EDIT: Also, a request: does anyone have a GIF of the scene from the original series where Shinji makes eye contact with Unit 01? That was the defining moment of Evangelion for me, that was when I realized I had to keep watching. So good.

My opinion is that they were built by the IPEA due to the similar looking logo on the back of the Mk. 04A
