I'm assuming there's no way to get a trial version of FPR since it's a PS2 Classic, right?

Oh man, for some reason I thought it was $20. I'll definitely pick it up then.

I'm starting to realize that one of my favorite things to do in FPR is get a striker/MMA guy and just KO the gently caress out of people. Mysterio jumping all over you? Punch him in the face. Angle wearing you down? Punch him in the face. Cena's overcoming the odds? Punch him in the face.

It's oddly satisfying...

Nothing like KOing Heath Slater with a right to the jaw. I'm really glad I picked FPR up, and now that I actually am getting the gameplay, I can win matches.

I read the FAQ that was posted earlier, and I have a handle on most everything (in FPR, just to be clear) except finishers/signatures. Unless I'm super blind and missing it, I don't see how to perform finishers, nor how to tell if you have one available. Thanks for any help.

Finishers and Signatures are just moves that you can pull off normally. Some times a dudes finisher is a straight up strike or basic running move. If you had the ability to you can just fire off finisher after finisher, no meter or anything. I think most of the time if it is a grapple move finisher that its in the Square and X slot of front or back grapples.

Thanks a lot. Just brainbustered a dude out of his boots thanks to that tip.

EDIT: This is a really minor thing, but man, I love the sounds in game. The mat impacts and little "oofs" out of the wrestlers makes it so much cooler for me. I've always felt like WWE could use better sound design in game, because often the moves feel weak as hell because they don't make the kind of sound I expect.

No, get fire pro wrestling returns :)

Or be a cool guy and get both like me.

I think WWE '13 is still a good buy (especially since it's pretty cheap now; I got mine during Black Friday for $25) and the Season Pass isn't ridiculous. I bought it mainly because I hate to take up slots if I can get them in game some other way and I just often prefer the dev made stuff (though obviously some models aren't great...Booker T...). I find myself now just alternating between them and I still have plenty of fun with both.

The season pass is also a special deal type thing, as you can only get DDP and Goldust if you buy the pass, or you can buy them piecemeal if you prefer and just get CAWs.

The servers have been pretty stable the last few times I tried them, and if I'm not mistaken, 2K are maintaining them for now. I was able to grab The Shield and a few arenas with not d/cs.

The main problem I have with WWE 13, and modern WWE games in general, is that I just don't feel like I'm getting the right kind of challenge from it. I am not sure how to put it into words, but when I play a game of Fire Pro I feel like I'm working hard to win but it's not cheap about it. With WWE it's usually really easy, even on Legend.

Yea, that's my problem with it as well. Someone posted sliders in the last thread to try and make it more competitive and oddly enough, they said to put it on Hard because the AI won't ever really go for finishers on Legend. The sliders definitely helped, but I can still win about 90% of the time, unless I'm deliberately picking a weak character.

My dream game would be the gameplay (and CAW slots) of FPR with the graphical capabilities of WWE games, even if that could be improved a whole lot more.

I definitely think it has to do with how many matches you play that are already set. I had a Remarkable Match between US Champ Bret Hart and Smackdown Champ (created title) Taker and it allowed me to shake Taker's hand or hit him. I've only gotten one more since then, so who knows.

The way I did the Jericho/Road Dogg table spot was just using Jericho's powerbomb (Unfortunately I can't remember off the top of head which direction that is) and using the stick to turn it into it.

Also WWE '13 related, does anyone else's Universe become locked on certain matches? I swear, every week on RAW it's Mankind vs. JBL and Smackdown always has HHH vs. Brock. I haven't looked at their rivals yet, so maybe that's it.

As for the grapple system it's not too terribly complicated. A is your grapple button and you press that while pushing a direction on the stick (or while running to do a running grapple) and that puts you into one of four holds. Then you press a direction and A again to do an actual move, X to hit/punch/kick, B to irish whip, and if you hold RB you can target the limbs.

The THQ site doesn't have the manual any more (which I guess makes sense as 2K has the license) but I found a .pdf link for it: http://www.thesmackdownhotel.com/wwe-13/wwe13_360_onlineman.pdf

I think for me the most important thing is they need to commit to this idea of "authentic" WWE experience and go in a more simulation type direction. The thing I always point to is there's no real difference in heel/face in game (barring the feet on the ropes ability) and very rarely does a match look like it does on TV. The audio and camera angles this year were cool admittedly, but I want to really feel like I can craft that in ring story that I want to. For example, you used to be able to argue with the ref on a 2 count; sure it didn't really do anything, but it was entertaining.

There was a fake description a few pages back and it sounded exactly like something I'd want. It had stuff like the ref breaking up guys when one's on the rope and the ability to attack your opponent early. I mean, if Wrestling Mprie was made competently it's pretty much what I'd want.

There's a lot of little things they can change to give the game more life, but I think 2K just needs to do a complete overhaul and start from scratch. A new movement engine and animation system would be a good start, but I admittedly don't know much of that end of it all. I'd like to see managers having an actual purpose instead of "oops let me get on the apron three times and then leave...". Let me give commands to the manager like "hey distract the ref so I can use a weapon..." or "hey get on the apron...".

But until then, I'll play some more FPWR...

It's close enough to release now that it's probably either been delayed or gone gold (ie finished and sent to the disc pressing plants), and achievement list releases / leaks happen often enough that they're generally considered spoilers with regard to narrative-heavy games. There's nothing that seems too out of the ordinary here, save for maybe the "superstar head" thing, which hasn't been present in WWE CAW modes for some time, and the super Shellshock OMG achievement, which seems a bit specific. A game mode built around the Undertaker's streak seems a sensible enough addition given its perennial B-story tenure at Wrestlemania.

I do really hope they're bringing back slobberknocker matches and not making them a Taker-only thing. They extended the life of No Mercy by quite a long time. At the same time, if the AI is as docile as it tended to be in WWE13 it won't really matter.

For what it's worth, X360a.org has posted it (link: http://www.xbox360achievements.org/game/wwe-2k14/achievements/) and they are normally pretty good at verifying if the list is legit.

I always thought a good way to do an engine update would be to make a stripped down version of a regular game with just like an exhibition mode but sell it at a cheaper price (perhaps something like a XBLA/PSN game). It would give them a chance to work on the other modes later and get a nice new engine out so people could see it.

I totally see why WWE wouldn't want that and it's probably a bigger investment than just cranking them out yearly.

This is an excellent entrance theme.

I tried making a CD for the 360 version once and ripping it and for some reason half the songs didn't work. I'm going to try editing them as you mentioned.

The way I did it on 360 was to make the playlist with the one song in Windows Media Player and if your 360 can see it, it should show up in game. I just stream the songs from my computer, though it can be hard getting them to play. I've had to add them twice and delete a copy to get it to finally play, but it works eventually.

Man, I forget how to do this with every drat WWE game. 2k14.

I've got a bunch of playlists set up on my computer, one song each, as recommended, but I always forget how to get them all to show up as selectable when I'm messing with entrances. Maybe I'll just have to shove them all onto the hard drive proper to get around this every time.

I found this video and kind of skipped around, but it's pretty much what I did for my guys on 360: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O3g6O4bQitc

You just basically have to put the songs in a playlist in Windows Media Player (if you are using something else, then this is pointless) and your 360 has to be allowed to network to your computer and share music.

I have it all set up in WMP, and it's worked for 2k13 and games past, and my XBox Windows Media Center knows they're all there. There's always just something I guess I have to do first to get them to be selectable in the actual music menus of the game when editing entrances, and I always forget what that is.

I know when mine wouldn't play I would add another copy of the song to the playlist and then delete it and re-save it, but who knows if that's just placebo. They would work after I did that though for the most part.
