Hercules Solo: d10, 1 pp, Stress: None Hercules was excited to find some way inside Stark Tower - his comrades-in-arms had already had more than enough fun without the Prince of Power himself! With Thor gone, surely they needed a divine presence on the team, and who better than the Lion of Olympus? The lobby was packed with people, however, and Hercules had no patience for navigating the crowd - he simply did not have the time to deal with the adoration of the masses at a time like this. Instead he had taken to the rooftops around the tower. The tower was an impressive structure, to be sure, but this is Manhattan. There is no shortage of tall buildings in the area, and Hercules is more than powerful enough to make a simple jump. Spying the opportunity he has been looking for, the brash demigod takes a running leap and does his best to jump directly onto the roof of Stark Tower. I'm using brash demigod as my distinction for the leap. Dice pool is: Solo = d10, Brash Demigod = d8, leaping = d6 Total was 12, effect die d6. http://orokos.com/roll/111330 quote:

Hercules Hercules laughed as he saw the little sentry come to life, and in a booming voice exclaimed, "Ha! I see Stark has seen fit to provide me with some entertainment this day! Too bad he couldn't give me anything a bit bigger to face, but the Lion of Olympus will rise to the challenge none the less!" Hercules then moves with speed that belies his huge size and rips a section of the door away to use as a shield to block the sentry's beams as he prepares to strike back. d10 Solo, Prince of Power d8, Combat Expert d8, Enhanced speed d8, Stunt d10: 15 with a 38 effect. Sentry VS Herc (Defense I did roll a 1 with one of my dice, I guess I get a PP right? Herc then smiles at the sentry robot as he grabs the piece of the door he had torn away and charges the robot, wrapping the door around the little bot in an attempt to immobilize his enemy, trying to get back to more pressing matters now that he's had a bit of sport. d10 Solo, Brash Demigod 1d4, Combat Expert 1d8, Godlike strength 1d12, SFX: Grappling - 1d6 plus step up my effect die (Can I use this on this attack since I'm trying to restrain the enemy with the scrap metal? Hercules Hercules roars with laughter as he finishes wrapping the metal door around the drone and tosses it to the side with gusto. The demigod then turns and smiles to McCoy. "Hah! If it isn't the Beast himself!" He claps a hand against the Avenger's shoulder. "I've come to avenge alongside my oft-times comrades-in-arms! Show me the way to the wine and we will drink in celebration!" Hercules starts to make his way inside, not even waiting for a response. "We shall feast tonight in honor of the great deeds we are bound to do!"

Hercules 1 pp Hercules heads straight for the bar and starts making selections, grabbing the largest brandy snifter at the bar to use as his wine goblet, beaming at the fine wines that Tony Stark's fortune has bought. "The Doctor is correct, friend Beast - we are noble warriors and should stand as shining examples to all the world! The large crowd at your gates will disperse in time when we punish the villains responsible for the troubles of this country, I assure you that." He downs the glass of 1983 Cockburn port he has poured, and refills quickly. "That was why I leapt onto your roof to reach you - the mob outside is so large that I felt climbing buildings would be faster than trying to push through their clamoring. Tell me, my fellow Avengers, when are we going to go and explain to them that we are their heroes, not their villains? Or will we be taking part in glorious labors to demonstrate our nobility to them, rather than relying on oration?" Lager fucked around with this message at 15:02 on May 7, 2013 |

Hercules Hercules smiles wide to the good Doctor. "I had thought you might never ask." He starts to check for a way to open the windows and jump down to the street, but then reconsiders wisely - wouldn't want to appear threatening, after all, or risk landing on anything breakable. "We should get down there as quickly as we may. To the express elevator!" He runs to the elevator and presses the button, feeling somewhat disappointed that it doesn't open immediately - standing around waiting for it, even if momentarily, is not exactly his style. He looks sheepishly back to Strange. "So..." The Prince of Power scratches the back of his neck and clears his throat.

Hercules Buddy d8, 1 pp, Stress: NA Hercules nods in appreciation. "A much more dramatic entrance, friend Stephen. I am grateful." Feeling much more confident now that he isn't standing and waiting, but can instead take action, Hercules holds his arms out in front of himself and, in a booming voice, addresses the crowd of protestors. "Well met, all! Hercules is here to address your concerns and earn your praises! What would you have me do?" He does his best to give a bright, friendly smile to all, and bows his head slightly to the superhero supporters, showing that he is grateful for their presence. Wasn't sure whether to roll or not, but I'll give it a shot - I'm using d8 for buddy, d8 for Prince of Power (trying to look as regal as possible) and not much else I think I can use. Charming the crowd: 1d8 1 1d8 8 Ouch. Well I get another pp, at least, and it looks like total was 8 with a d4 effect die (since I've got nothing else to use). And I'll still say if we're taking turns that I'll let the crowd go next so we can let them decide whether this is going to wind up being a confrontation or not. Hercules d6 Team, 1 pp, No stress Hercules has heard of this Purple Man from his allies, and knows what is coming. Gritting his teeth, he prepares for the mental attack. As the living sandstorm comes down, Hercules is put someone at ease, judging that the impromptu team being formed should be able to deal with the threat at hand. As the frustrated villain lashes out, Hercules does his best to stand up to the mental onslaught, but...Wait, why are these superhumans trying to threaten his good friend, Zebediah? No, that can't be right..."Villain, you will not control these mortals any longer!" He strains against the enemy and does his best to keep his mind his own. Dice pool is d6 Team, d8 Prince of Power, I think I can use the d10 complication from Dust's attack earlier? And I'll spend a pp for a d6 push die. Defending against Purple Man: 1d6 6 1d8 8 1d10 3 1d6 2 14 with a d10 effect. I guess I'm hit, but that means I reduce the effect die, right? So d4 stress? Let me know if I'm not grasping something, but I'm excited to see what happens next. I'll wait for the Doc to take his hit before I do anything else, but I'm very anxious to hit something. Hard. Edit: I made a few rolls with varying dice for this. Hercules Team: d6, 0 pp (I think), Stress: d4 (I think) Hercules hefts his golden mace and gives Purple Man a wide grin as he clears his head enough to prepare for a mighty throw. "Well done, friends! Now, villain, prepare yourself - you face the Lion of Olympus!" His voice booms out as loud and raucous as can be, and he hefts the golden mace directly at Purple Man's head. Team d6, Prince of Power d8, Godlike Strength d12, Combat Expert d8, and I believe I'm going to use my SFX Boundless Strength for a little extra pizzaz if I can - that'll double Godlike Strength up to 2d12. If this fails you get to add the highest rolling die to the doom pool. Beating the Purple off this Man: 1d12 5 1d12 6 1d8 7 1d8 8 1d6 4 That's 15 with a d12 effect. Apparently he is making some fuss on the C-SPAN at this time." Hercules Hercules is satisfied by the explanation from Doctor Strange, and relaxes his grip on the golden mace of Olympus, which he had been preparing to use in battle against the known terrorist who so brazenly stepped into their midst. "Yes, this is a good start, then. Why, before we went to fight the Purple Man I was stating that we should stand as examples and show that our nobility is above question - turning villains into heroes is a wonderful way to prove our point!" He smiles and puts his hands to his hips, striking a valiant pose. "I am glad to see that my advice was nothing more than preaching to the choir, as they say. Welcome to the Avengers, Mystique. Stand on the straight and narrow and I will have no cause to defeat you in glorious battle."

In the time he's been in the penthouse Hercules has finished the port he started on and has since sampled a few of the finer wines and liqueurs. The big man then strikes another of his wide array of heroic poses. "But to business, the good Doctor is correct - I do plan to petition for membership once again in your ranks. I am most disappointed in having missed the opportunity to provide Doctor Doom with a well deserved beating and I do not plan to miss such a grand battle again." He gestures towards Mystique. "Tell me, might we find the real Magneto and deliver glorious vengeance upon him? He is a fugitive in the first place - even if he didn't really declare war on us, we certainly have ample cause to bring him to justice!"

Hercules "A fine idea young Dust has," Hercules chimes in as she mentions joining in on tracking down the villains that plague the Avengers. With Dr. McCoy's permission, of course, I believe she could learn much with the Avengers and we could certainly benefit from her assistance!" He gives a look of certainty to Tony, showing that the young mutant has his full support. Not that it means much from a man who technically hasn't even joined the team yet, but surely they wouldn't turn down a legacy member - especially a legendary hero like the awesome Hercules?

Hercules PP:0, Stress: N/A, XP:1, Team d6 Reacting with incredible speed for such a large man, Hercules grabs his golden mace and throws himself into the elite group as well, judging them to be the most worthy adversaries and the most deserving of a divine beatdown. Of course, it's also a good opportunity to see how Iron Fist is coping with his newly acquired godlike power. Having worked with Thor on many occasions and having a high degree of respect for his Norse counterpart, the son of Zeus is interested to see how his legacy is being upheld. Hercules considers shouting the battle cry, but fights hard to contain himself - Dr. Strange should have the opportunity to cry havoc and let slip the dogs of war, after all. As Hercules lands in front of the mass of alien soldiers he swings the mighty mace in front of himself and charges headlong into battle. Team d6, Prince of Power d8, Godlike Strength which I'm going to double with an SFX - if this actions fails you can add the best rolling die to the doom pool - 2d12, Combat Expert d8. Smackdown on some bugs: 1d12 1 1d12 3 1d6 3 1d8 3 1d8 3 Ouch. So 6 with a d12 effect. That's just depressing. I did get an opportunity, too. Welp, that didn't go well at all. Ikzayal can go next.

Taking a laser to the face: 1d6 3 1d8 2 1d10 9 1d8 5 so 14 with a d8 effect. I take a d8 of stress, right? As the lasers singe his flesh, he stands up tall and gives them a fierce glare, the smile still on his lips. He twists his neck around, clenches the golden mace firmly, and laughs in a booming voice as he smashes the mace into the ground, trying to break the floor under the feet of his enemies. I'm going to do a stunt for a pp, trying to break the floor underneath the enemies. As the lasers hit he tenses his muscles and ignores the pain, though he can smell some of his copious hairs being singed. When the smoke clears, though, the Prince of Power is without serious injury, and he grins wide at the insectoid warriors as he stands to his full height. "And now you see how hopeless your cause is, villains! You have tried in vain to injure the son of Zeus, and left your flank wide open!" The demigod laughs uproariously as he sees Dust tear through the enemy ranks. As he watches the young mutant box the enemy in between a sandstorm and himself, he applauds loudly and then readies his golden mace, preparing to strike anew. Taking lasers like a champ: 1d6 1 1d8 5 1d10 9 1d8 6 15 with a d8 effect, plus one opportunity. "This should hold them, I trust, until our friends in SHIELD arrive to take them into custody." He pats his stomach with vigor. "We should hold a feast when our press obligations are finished with. What better way to celebrate our victory than with lamb, aged cheeses, and fine wines?" He starts to meander away from the group, dreaming to himself. I must say that it is an honor to be serving alongside old friends like Iron Man and the Beast, as well as my new allies such as Iron Fist, Ikzayal, and the lovely and courageous Spider-Woman." At this he glowers somewhat at Rich DuFour before resuming his more pleasantly toothy grin. "As for how I like to work out, I prefer practical workouts - battling a hydra is a fantastic way to work up a sweat. As is battling Hydra soldiers, for that matter. But when battle is scarce I try to lift weights at least three times a week. You should be able to keep your sessions to about two or three hours each. You can cut back some on the weights if you have a brave companion to wrestle with. The best way to do that is nude and oiled, though I have been warned by my comrades at arms in the past that your modern world seems to have a bit of an issue with the beauty of the human body so I suppose that a spandex outfit can suffice." He flexes his great arms for the crowd at this, "Follow the words of mighty Hercules and you will be the envy of your friends and the scourge of your enemies!" He then thinks for a moment before deciding, as he wants to ensure that he is a good role model, adding, "And stay off the drugs!" He smiles wide to Tony and gives him the "A-OK" sign. As long as the Avengers are here to do battle with the forces of evil, your fine city shall be safe - so promises Hercules, Lion of Olympus!" He strikes another heroic pose from his repertoire as he boasts. "Take what just happened as an example of what is to come - any who dare to try and abuse the knowledge of noble warriors like the Fantastic Four will not prove victorious - they will only find my fist waiting for them when they come to this world! "And now you see what true power is capable of, villains!" His boast is short lived however, as he then has to try and steel himself for the plasma weaponry. Thinking as quickly as he can, Hercules decides to grab his trusted mace and smash it against the flooring of the base, knocking up debris into the air to try and confuse AIM's...aim. He then flexes every muscle in his body to try and prepare for the searing heat against his flesh. First pool will be Buddy d8; Prince of Power d8; Superhuman Durability d10; Combat Expert d8; burning a PP for a d10 Stunt since you rolled a one on the first attack; d8 for his stress. Taking a blast like a champ: 1d8 8 1d8 2 1d10 1 1d8 1 1d10 8 1d8 2 16 with a d8, so looks like a beat that one. Also rolled two more opportunities so I can apparently do no wrong with getting plot points. Onto the second...Pretty similar. Buddy d8; Prince of Power d8; Superhuman Durability d10; Combat Expert d8; d8 for his stress. See if I can repeat that one!: 1d8 5 1d8 4 1d10 2 1d8 6 1d8 2 So looks like 11 with a d10. So that would up the stress I believe. I'm going to spend 2 more plot points to add a couple of extra dice. Since I did a stunt with my last attack I'm assuming these will just be d6s. Adding a couple dice: 1d6 6 1d6 2. I'm going to spend two more PP (Which will make my total PP 2 now. (5 - 1 + 2 - 2 - 2)). Those two PP will be used to add my 4 and my 6 from this roll to the total, bringing it to 20 with a d10. Let's spend 1 more PP to add one more die and make it 22 with a d10. Please let me know if any of this was not kosher but from what I've been picking up from watching everyone else's rolls this made sense to my sleep deprived brain. As the smoke clears, Hercules hair is singed and steaming, but he cracks his neck side to side, staring daggers into the AIM soldiers. He raises a hand up to them and invites them to try again, smiling wide. "A fine attempt. If you dare to try again, Hercules is ready for you." Hercules 1 PP, 1 XP, 1d10 Solo, No stress Hercules gets obviously impatient as the AIM thugs debate over how best to try and harm him. "Less science, more shooting! Come and collect the gift of battle!" He is so busy berating his opponents that he almost doesn't have time to prepare himself for their next attempt at shooting him. Getting hit again: 1d10 9 1d8 5 1d10 9 1d8 4 18 with a d8 for the first, So many lasers....: 1d10 3 1d8 4 1d10 2 1d8 2 7 with a d10 for the second...Ouch. That stays at a d6 stress I believe, right? d10 would bump it down to d4, but I lost by more than 5 so that bumps it to a d6, from what the book says. I forgot about the d8 stress on the rolls, but I didn't need it for the first one and when I rerolled the 2 d8s for stress I wound up a 2 both times anyway so it wouldn't have helped the second roll either. Hercules laughs off the first volley, but the second shot knocks him to his knees in pain. The demigod has seemingly hit a bit of a wall in his tolerance for pain. His flesh singed, Hercules spits a little blood out and gives the AIM goons a crazed grin. "Well done, villains. You finally managed to singe me. But I believe I've given you enough chances. There is a murderer to bring to justice, and Hercules has no more time to waste on your weakness! Have at thee, mortals!" With that, Hercules lifts his adamantine mace and throws it at the wall behind the pair of goons, attempting to smash the wall down onto the thugs and bury them in the rubble. His joy in this battle dwindles, and so he is not being nearly as careful about not overdoing it. still, in the back of his mind he hopes that their shields will keep them from being totally crushed under the debris. I'm doing 1d10 Solo, 1d8 Prince of Power, 1d12 Godlike Strength, 1d6 Area Attack SFX, 1d8 Combat Expert. Smashing a wall on the AIM thugs: 1d10 2 1d8 8 1d12 3 1d6 4 1d8 8. That makes it 16 with a d10 on the first and a d12 on the second. The stress die would not possibly help so I'm not bothering with those, we'll just see whether they can defend on this one. I'm thinking I also get 1 XP for congratulating them for causing physical stress on me, right?

Hercules d6 Stress, 2 XP (Unless my congratulatory gesture last action didn't count for the XP), 1 PP Hercules claps his hands loudly and chuckles to himself, then realizes that the real opponent - Nitro - is having fun elsewhere with his companion. Not about to let the battle end prematurely, the God of Might runs to collect his mace and then bolts down the hallway where he last saw Nitro heading with his tail between his legs. As he ran down the hall, Hercules decided it would be best to follow the familiar "ZAP!" sounds of laser fire. Surely that would lead him right to his quarry.

Hercules 2 XP, 1 PP, Stress d6, Buddy d8 Hercules smiled wide to the floating head in the center of the room. As he had entered the room, Hercules had been momentarily disappointed at seeing Spider-Woman taking Nitro out so handily - he had wanted to finish what he'd started. Ikzayal wouldn't be letting him hear the end of this anytime soon, he thought as he chuckled to himself at his overconfidence. But then he'd caught sight of the MODOK twins, and became immediately elated. "Thank the Holy Heights of Olympus, MODOK is here! It's been a long time since I have had the pleasure of breaking that massive face of yours in. I don't think we have fought since my days with the Champions, have we?" Hercules cracks his knuckles and prepares to go to work. "And now you provide with two of you to break. Prepare yourself, villain. I bring the gift of battle to you this day, and I hope you will learn to keep better company from now on!" He prepares his battle stance then, obviously ecstatic about this turn of events. He grins to Spider-Woman like a child on Christmas morning, and tells her, "I call the one with a body! I've always wanted to put MODOK in a chokehold, but he never had a neck before now!" I'll wait on my action if Spider-Woman wants to go first.

Hercules 2 XP, 1 PP, Stress d6, Buddy d8 Leaping into the air, Herc grabs the mechanoid's head as he passes in a wrestling lock and tries to get the monster into a chokehold. "When you submit, creature, I will let you go. Cry uncle and give up this pathetic attempt at a battle!" Herc tugs on the robot's neck, hoping to topple it backwards such that he can limit the robot's movements from here on. I'm going to try and inflict a physically restrained complication on MODOC by putting him in a chokehold. Maybe that's a little premature since it's the very start of the fight, but I think Herc would leap at the chance to wrassle a big dope like this. Dice pool is 1d8 Buddy, 1d8 Brash Demigod, 1d12 Godlike Strength, 1d6 Grappling SFX which also steps up my effect die, 1d8 Combat Expert. Wrasslin MODOC: 1d8 7 1d8 5 1d12 8 1d6 2 1d8 1 Got an opportunity in there, total winds up being 15 with a d8 effect stepped up to d10. I'm going to spend my PP to add the 5 in, so it'll actually be a 20 with a d6 stepped up to d8 for effect. Tagging the MODOK twins, obviously, since Spider-Woman and I have both gone. Hercules d8 Buddy, 1 PP, 5 XP, d6 Physical Stress Hercules grabs tighter at the robots neck joint as the beast starts prying at him with the axe. Were it not for Herc's divine durability, he would surely be flayed alive by the assault, but as it stands the axe might as well be a spatula right now. He comes close to losing his grip, but the Lion of Olympus was a world class wrestler back when the Olympics were new. While he wasn't accustomed to performing these locks while clothed, his experience served him very well. Dice pool is d8 Buddy, d8 Prince of Power, d10 Superhuman Durability, d10 Physically Restrained Complication, d8 Combat Expert. Hanging on as best I can: 1d8 4 1d8 1 1d10 1 1d10 9 1d8 7 Total ends up being 16 with a d8. Plus two opportunities. With the reaction out of the way, should I go now, or who goes next now that we're apparently in a new round?

Hercules d8 Buddy, 3 PP, 5 XP, d6 Physical Stress Having successfully kept the robot in the choke hold, Hercules sets about with trying to pull at the monster's head - surely if he could tear the connections keeping its head attached there would be no way for the robot to continue fighting him and Spider-Woman, he reasoned. And besides, a giant head like that should pop off even a giant robot body with ease. Dice pool is d8 Buddy, d8 Prince of Power, 2d12 Godlike Strength (doubled by my Boundless Strength SFX), d8 Combat Expert, d10 Physically Restrained Complication. Lock it up: 1d8 3 1d8 4 1d12 5 1d12 11 1d8 2 1d10 4 ends up being 16 with a d10 effect. I'll spend a plot point to make my total 20 with a d10. Pass to MODOC.

Hercules d8 Buddy, 2 PP, 5 XP, d6 Physical Stress Yeah, I'll take your advice and use the 15 with a d12 instead. Hercules maintains a firm grip on the monster's shoulder with his left arm as his right arm tears the mechanoid's head from its shoulders. He had hoped to tear it off entirely, but unfortunately enough wires were intact that apparently the beast was still able to fight. "Haha, you have built a worthy foe for me here, MODOK - I thank you for the workout!" Glistening with sweat and effort, Hercules locks his right arm into his left, using 2500 years of wrestling experience to try and anticipate the robot's next actions. Unfortunately, the Prince of Power hasn't face many opponents with the advantage of a detachable head. He feels the robot's axe arm spin towards him as the mighty weapon sliced through the air at him. He knew from prior experience that the axe was not sharp enough to cut him, but the robot's swing might well carry the force to do some damage, now that MODOC had a clear bead on his position. Herc prepared as best he could and worked on twisting the robot's body to compensate for the force of the blow, but was not entirely successful and was rewarded for overconfidence with some severe pain in his ribs and back. Cursing himself for not thinking more clearly before knocking the robot's head off, Hercules redoubled his efforts in the fight. I'm rolling d8 Buddy, d8 Prince of Power, d10 Superhuman Durability, d8 Combat Expert, d12 for MODOC's Stress, d10 Physically Restrained complication. Trying not to be KOed like a sucker: 1d8 4 1d8 7 1d8 3 1d10 9 1d12 2 1d10 5 I'm spending a PP to make it a 21 with a d12 effect, fortunately avoiding being totally hosed here.

Hercules 1 PP, Buddy d8, 5 XP, d12 Physical Stress Hercules can sense that both he and the robot are each on their last legs and musters his strength together for another strike, hoping it will be the last. "You have been a worthy opponent indeed, MODOC, but you have received the gift of battle. Now it is time to submit!" He boasts loudly to the mechanical man as he spins around in a sweeping motion, using his wrestling knowledge to avoid being trapped under the robot as it falls - Hercules has fought opponents larger than himself before, after all. As the robot falls, Herc uses his free arm to grab at the wires and tubing holding the beast's head on, ripping and tearing at them to pry them loose and end the threat once and for all. Dice pool is d8 Buddy, d8 Prince of Power, 2d12 Godlike Strength and Boundless Strength SFX, d10 Physically Restrained, d12 MODOC's stress. Finish him!: 1d8 5 1d8 8 1d12 3 1d12 6 1d10 3 1d12 2... Spending a powerpoint to make the result 19 with a d12 effect. Let's have MODOC go next.
