So watching Sid's return a few weeks back made me realize something. Sid is like Bizarro-Forrest Gump, somehow always missing the benchmarks of wrestling history despite being an active competitor in the time frame. Sid left NWA before the establishment of the WCW world title and official rebranding (I think. my grasp of NWA/WCW at this point is imperfect) and managed to show up at the tail end of Hulkamania. At the advent of the nWo and WCW's seeming impending victory of the Monday NIght Wars, Sid was in the WWF while it was at it's lowest point only to get injured and have no part in the attitude era. Sid then returns to WCW in May 99, which was basically the 3rd wheel falling off the axle. Sid then gets badly injured and retired from Wrestling three months before the merger and the Invasion. Despite Sid's past with Flair and Anderson I swear he is truly the 5th Horseman: That Which Sows Failure In It's Wake. (Sometimes through no fault of his own).
