I don't remember if this has come up yet but that 'viking rune' that kept showing up on Cherenkov's face is Aleph, the first letter of the Hebrew alphabet. Its mythological significance is that in Hebrew, it's the first letter of each word in one of God's names (I am that I am) and it's also the letter written on a golem's forehead to give it life. Dunno if that's actually going to be in any way significant or if it's just more gratuitous symbolism but there you go.
