Actually, in scanning the thread to make sure I had my kit in order, it should be 120 apiece, since Lloyd's barter check was sub-par (700 caps instead of the expected 800)

Also - I'm a terrible person and forgot to give the deathclaw a cut, hence my original figure of 200.

I don't think I'll be needing a cut. Did plenty of side work to be comfortable yet. Not sure what a deathclaw would do with money, but feel free to find out with whatever my share was. Should be about 175 a piece from 700 for 4 people.

Sorry, just been busy today and can't post at work right now because I broke my phone on accident and I'm using some slide out keyboard relic right now, just now getting time to sit at the comp, but it'll be edited into that same post here in the next 15 minutes. You haven't really gained equipment, but you've lost ammunition and gained some caps as far as your sister is concerned. She'll have that 10mm pistol that she was wearing in the house when you first saw her after she got done at the Unity tent, and I'll generalize her survival gear. Anyhow check in just a few.

Just so I can understand for future books, like the ones I have in my inventory, the core rules say this much about book reading.

Core Rules Book posted:

To gain skill point from reading, 5 hours must be devoted to studying the book. A roll against the character’s intelligence must then be made. If successful, character adds 1d6 skill points for the relevant sill.

I can understand Susan's notes being different, since they affect multiple skills and would probably be more like a perk. So should I do rolls or flat increases for the books I have right now? Because lore wise I can kinda see where you'd be going with the D.C. journal being flat.

To be honest, I've just been going with the flow as of late given that much of what we've agreed on or supplemented has fit the bill, but this does bring up a good point.

I think for simplicities sake, I'll keep flat amount increases after studying for a few hours or so. Magazines temporary, Books and special items like those notes, permanent.

I think I'll wait on some sort of map before acting. Makes it easier to read and cuts down on the describing you have to do.

But something I have been thinking, but not saying since it hasn't been relevant recently. Sahen's strength is 9 and his carry weight 250. Therax's even more so, and most player characters aren't any sort of slouches when it comes to hustling heavy equipment around like it isn't even there.

I'm wondering if there's anything to be said about picking up more, well, living things. Just by the weight rules alone I could stuff most people into my bag and walk off none the worse. And there's no weight stats for the critters, but I can't imagine what we've faced so far would weight too much.

I think what I'm trying to ask is could I, were I in an adjacent tile, just make a strength check or other contest to grab a hostile critter? Maybe even swing it around a bit? Could be fun.

I have a few questions, now that we're in Neo Nashville:

- How long has Jackie been gone? She presumably had a small apartment; is it reasonable to expect the rent is still current on it? How is it furnished?

- Jackie presumably has a few friends in the city: a drinking buddy or two, someone who sold her a few guns, a favorite watering hole. I can make the list, or Dr. Idle can, but I'd like to get a few ideas pinned down when trying to plot out some revenge.

- Jackie was working as a dealer for a long time, and shortly as an enforcer for the (presumably) pseudo-organized-crime gambling district. Does she have any enemies she should be looking out for?

- How well does Jackie know Neo Nashville, and, more importantly, how well does it know her? Will she get immediately recognized walking back into her old casino (or the one she was dragged out of), or will it be possible to case the joint and look around without it being a problem?

In all actuality, it's probably been a little over two weeks. I'll work on a city map later tonight, but you do have an apartment both furnished and current on rent.

pre:
Jackie's Apartment
You live in the ruins of a building called The Stahlman
over on Union street. Just off of the riverfront.
It's a 12-story building that has been turned into apart
-ments over the years. The top 5 floors are caved in or
too far ruined to safely live in.

You live on the 3rd floor in a 1 Bedroom Apartment. You
have a bathroom with running "dirty" water. In the main
living area which also connects to a kitchen. You have
a dented desk, a torn up couch, a functional radio and
an armoire with a few articles of clothing. There is a
steel desk chair that could be used to sit at the desk.
You have a heating plate in the kitchen and various
dried meats, canned foods and cured goods stored away
in a pantry. All things aside, you've spruced up the pl
-ace pretty good. That was, until you were almost made
a slave.

pre:
Friends
  • Connor - A caravan guard that you've shared drinks with. He stops into town ab -out once a month. He is 'sweet' on you, but hasn't said anything. He is 32 years old, with a simple looking face and a dirty mange of light brown hair across his head.
  • Fast Fingers Ricky - A dealer at the casino you worked in. Nice to talk too, a good alcoholic.
  • Tina LaPlume - An ex-prostitute turned waitress who also worked at the Silver Slipper casino.
  • Anyone else you want to make or look for.
Merchants There are variety of merchants and vendors in Neo-Nashville, but none of them seem to have made a lasting impression on you. There was Heavy Pete's Armory though, your favorite gunshop in the city Will have other types of shops too. Watering Hole You preferred to not get caught up in all the bullshit of the city, well as best you could, and as a result you found Harker's. A bar built in the remains of a 2 story post- office. Managed by a retired raider, with a strict no-tolerance policy. He respected you, and despite his past, you might could even say you respected him somewhat. Man, makes his own hooch, drat good too. Enemies The city was always filled with people, both coming and going. Although, the only real chance of you being recognized was if you went looking for it. Primarily meaning, showing up at the Silver Slipper like a bull out of hell. Doesn't hurt to keep an eye out though.

QuantumNinja posted:

It's only been two weeks, but dealers are plenty and more often than not succumbing to their own supply. If anything, you may have stepped on a rival family member's toes, or somehow managed to piss off the higher-ups at silver slipper. Maybe your past was catching up with you with bad blood from a deal gone sour?

Most people will go on by you without a second glance, close associates and most of the Casino staff will recognize you. Stay towards the riverfront and west side of town and you should be fine, more or less. Go looking for trouble, and you'll find it.

I'm having trouble reconciling these details with the story in Jackie's Bio---should I read the Silver Slipper in place of the Antioch Casino? And if so, she was thrown out for getting into a fight after a patron tried to get sweet on her:

QuantumNinja posted:

It was less than a week before one of the regular customers started to get a little too familiar with her and she realized she had actually been hired as eye candy. When she resisted, she was beaten unconscious---repeatedly. She woke up in a slaver's den in VaultTown and was shortly sold into the service of a wealthy trader from Bedford who seemed to have a sinister use for her.

Pretty much everyone keeps to themselves and no one gets hurt. There is no policing authority. Businesses and establishments usually have their own protection. E.G., Casino enforcers and what not or a guard for a shopkeep.

A morally righteous person may stop you if they see you doing something bad, but more than likely they'll just get away from you, especially if you're taking violent actions.

Wreak enough havoc and the populous will turn on you though. You can accumulate negative or positive rep here. Different groups will respond differently to you depending on who you affiliate yourself with.

I'll have some more town details up today.

More About Neo-Nashville

quote:

Neo-Nashville
The far northern parts of the city are completely ruined from the result of a nuclear warhead that detonated two-miles outside of the city limits. More than likely, a missed target, but the damage was still devastating. What the bomb didn't destroy, time did. The coarse, radioactive sandstorms cut through the buildings over the first few years before being drawn towards the areas of true devastation westward where the storms still rage to this day. Twenty years later, Vault 76, hidden underneath the Grand Hotel, would open its doors and the citizens of that vault colonized the remains of Nashville. Over 150 years later, the town would become a cultural mecca in the Tennessean wastes, welcoming all kinds. Establishing a neutral grounds for all the citizens of the wasteland.

Three families took over the city. The Rosenthorpes who refurbished the Silver Slipper Casino. The Huttons who moved onto the main strip over in southwest Nashville and the last family the Wellings, which has since been disbanded due to violent warfare between the three families

Points of Interest
  • Park Rage - Pecker's Scrap Shop on the East Side
  • Heavy Pete's Armory - Weapons, Defensive Gear, Modifications
  • Harker's Den of Sin - A bar filled with a rough, but well tempered customers. Probably, from the threat of Harker taking his minigun off the wall and sawing someone in half.
  • Slaver's Guild Outpost - On the west side of town by the New Confederacy office off of Grundy. Buy and sell slaves.
  • UNITY Outpost - On the eastside, set up where the mutants resided. Chris might know someone there.
  • Stetman's Pornographic Emporium - A pornographic film studio and store. Stetman is a greasy slimeball, he tried to get Jackie to work for him before.
  • Silver Slippers(Rosenthorpe Family) - A fine casino on the Northside of Nashville. The Rosenthorpe's engage in warfare in the streets with the Hutton's from time to time. There aren't many Rosenthorpes left, but they have more than enough hired hands to keep their bases recovered for a generation or two.
  • Green Gator Casino(Hutton Family) - Where Jackie worked. Thomas and Wesley Hutton, twin brothers who managed the day-to-day affairs of the casino. Equally handsome, smart and evil. Veronica Hutton the daughter had a serious drug problem. The mother Barbara a whore and daddy Hutton, Michael "the Nose" Hutton, a ruthless killer and retired gunner for the Wellings. They run this town for the most part.
  • Antioch Casino - A shutdown Casino whose owner Bankrupt the place after losing all of his crime-loaned money. Fled town after the business went under, but he's probably resting somewhere with a bullet between his eyes.
  • Vault 76 - A still functional Vault in depths of the Grand Hotel.
  • The Grand Hotel - A large, renovated hotel that houses a vault. The hotel is actually powered by the vault and generators deep within the vault supply ample electricity to Nashville's old electric grid. The vault is maintained by descendants of those who first left the vault along with Followers of the Apocalypse and scientists from other areas of the wasteland who have come to assist in the replication of a project that started in the Capital Wasteland.
  • The Stahlman - An old hotel turned into an apartment complex. This is where Jackie lives
  • Riverfront Market - A large market place filled with wares and rarities of every kind.
  • The Pit - A fighting arena, teams or individuals can go toe to toe in vicious fights to the death against one another or various wasteland beasts. Gambling is ALWAYS involved and the payout for entertaining fights is quite rewarding.
  • Fields of Honor - Rugby Field, Home of the Blitzers. Daily matches against the Smashers, Rosenthorpe's team and the Deathclaws, the Hutton's team are open to attend from 10AM to 12AM for 5 caps.

There are various gangs and small bands throughout the town and all other manner of filth you could imagine. In the wealthier areas, family muscle gets paid to do security, but that's not always guaranteed. There aren't many children here. Those who do live here usually are homeless.

quote:

If an attacker is making a non-bladed melee or unarmed attack, they can declare a strike to stun. In this case, the attack is made at minus 30. Success indicates the opponent has been rendered unconscious for 15-EN rounds and minimum damage was dealt. If critical is made during the attack, damage is dealt normally according to the critical table.

I really should have specified, though, so I'll just deal with my own mistakes.
