I've been looking into this game after playing TC to death, can anyone tell me if they improved the interface/fleet control and weather TC mods work with this? Also do they still do that thing where you get it for free if you bought the superbox?

To be fair, character models were never their forte. Look at the tiny little comm unit models from the main X series of games.

Also, I imagine that that model looks worse given the edits they made. No way they intended the boob window to be accented like that.

Still horrible on all fronts though. I'm looking forward to the next game, where all of the neat stuff from AP/TC is added back in. I guess they'll call it re-rebirth or something.

You guys realize that thats just a joke mod, right?

Never underestimate the Nexus. That's tame by their standards. There's even a topic showcasing how bad the mods they showcase are on these forums.

I'd have assumed it was a joke if it had a MLP character done up in bondage porn or something sitting there. And maybe even then i'd wonder if someone wasn't wanking off to it.

Its mostly Bethesda games that attract all the weirdos, other Nexus sites aren't as ridiculous. Also this thread, the author even tagged it as a joke mod.

X3:AP - XRM Question

I am getting some pretty terrible performance when there are faction fights going on, and I have a pretty good machine. Does anyone know of any issues and or performance fixes?

My Current rig:

i7 4770k Quad (8 thread) 3.5Ghz
32GB DDR3 2133
SLI - nVidia Titans
2x 1TB Samsung SSD (One OS/Software the other is games)

All drivers are current and up to date.

When running the game it is only using around 13% of my CPU, and maybe 5 - 10% of each GPU, according to system monitoring software running on a side screen.

As a rule of thumb 90% of performance issues with X3 are CPU related. Doesn't the i7 only have 4 cores? Blindly guessing I'd say the hyperthreading prevents the games thread from tasking its CPU core to capacity, so try disabling that.

If there is a way to make XRM not be total bitch, and remove the XL requirement on jumpdrives that would be awesome. It does add a lot of stuff that I like. But I couldn't care less about the engine trails tbh.

Get the X3 editor and fire it up. Go to file, open from vfs. The file you're looking for should be types/TWareT.pck. Open it and find the jump drive, its fairly self-explanatory. Change the wareclass and when saving click switch to systems dialog, then save to {AP folder}/types.

I've gotten people complaining that my score of 47 was far too high. Honestly, I don't think it is - a lot of the complaints leveled are insane frothing PC Master Race bullshit. There's plenty wrong and broken with the game just taking it on its own merits, but there's also a core here that I think can be salvaged.

That's still a bad score.

Not really PC Master Race bullshit when the developer promises an improved intuitive UI and delivers a broken mess that is all but unplayable with anything other than a 360 controller. Or when the developer promises the depth and complexity of previous games and delivers dumbed down nonsense with depth replaced with tedious minigames. Or when the developer straight up comes out and admits they tried to bring this to consoles but couldn't dumb it down enough for the limited hardware and that they will bring it to Xbox One.

Really even if you fix all the bugs you are still left with a broken mess of a game that traded all its appealing features for tedium and bullshit. And because people keep saying that mods will fix it, yes, but that doesn't change the fact that the vanilla game is terrible. The score of 28 is well deserved.

i wish there was a way to switch it to German and have english subtitles. I am almost positive that it would be a lot better story wise.

It isn't. They just have a really lovely writer.

I really don't know then, thats the only thing listed as a required command library on Lucike's site. I don't remember any special library needed for CODEA specifically, but I don't speak German so I really can't tell from his website.

It needs military transport too.

The fact that they literally didn't have a beta test also explains a lot.

I see things are still pretty bad, but how's the patching coming along? Are they on the right track?

They patched in video capturing and a UI toggle, meanwhile combat ships in your squad don't attack the enemy even if they are directly attacked. I'm glad they've got their priorities straight.

Has anyone successfully gotten an X52 Pro working with the game? Last I checked you couldn't bind like half of the buttons (including the trigger ) and a couple of the axes were unrecognized, so it was more or less unusable.

Joystick support is pretty much nonexistent except for a few specific joysticks, the X52 Pro is not among them. So far I haven't heard any announcements about plans for improvement either. Though you could just make a profile for it.

We can change the thread title to something about rebirth if and only if they make it so you can change ships else AP is still better.

My taranis has disappeared off my owned ships list :( is this a bug or working-as-intended? i received no notifications of it being under attack, etc. It was there, opened the panel a minute later and gone. Still not there.

There is no message log in the game so ships will get killed in other sectors and you're left guessing what happened to them.

It's not as bad as I thought it would be (high praise indeed :)). Flying around in space is quite beautiful and smooth. I've only played it for about an hour and a half, so take this with a grain of salt, but it feels like there's a whole world underneath waiting for me to figure it out. Of course, it's a world that contains very annoying "features" like my stupid looking and sounding co-pilot, retarded NPC interactions, and the ability of my ship to scan out to only about 1 km, but still... Hence my question about the mods, hopefully there's enough there to make the world more approachable.

The flying around is generally considered the best part of the game, its everything else that is broken and terrible. On that note, did they finally figure out how to make a targeting button?
