Sunglasses Kid, Robert Parker and Matt Kwid should be right up your alley with the funk stuff. The worst is when people put up a track but give you no way to buy it or download it, and like you say Spotify or Google Music and other streaming services will only have a fraction of what's out there.

/\ Gonna have to check those out when I have some time to sit down and go through everything.

This song deserves it's own post, separate to the playlist. Just recently got MGSV. Last weekend, I was stoned and this came on, during the intro....

Midge Ure - The Man Who Sold the World
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cLoytewvn0g

Such an amazing version of "The Man Who Sold the World." 80s middle-eastern, tripstep, throwback, mashup D&B :psyduck:

I really love the intro, especially the "play tape cassette" sound effect followed by a little high-pass filter that makes you feel as though your listening to it through a walkman, with mediocre headphones. The ending is wonderfully drawn out, which can make for great remix samples or an easy transition. I just wish that at some point, it dropped the percussion and isolated the drum beat. I might wind up to re-creating the drum beat in Ableton so I can gently caress around with it a bit.

Same, but I hate it. Whoever cut the trailer deserves an award, they make it look somewhat interesting but it turns out the trailer is essentially the film with all the long pauses cut out. It's a bad film, made badly by people who've seen good films and think that qualifies them to make something along those lines. So utterly out of their depth, and the cinematography was a nightmare full of technical headaches.

Soundtrack is good though.

I wish there was something that did the neon landscape some justice but without the added humour. Kung Fury was shite, Moonbeam City is fun but they felt it had to be an out and out comedy (which is fair, it's a Comedy Central show after all), Turbo Kid is really fun but again it relies on humour. I wanna see a ton of 80s throwback that's done completely straight, it can be over the top still but not in a "we need to add actual jokes to this" way.

I think most of them are afraid doing a straight up homage would be "boring"

that's what happens when we remember 80s movies through trailers of the most exciting and ridiculous moments. Nobody wants to remember the long shots of people walking and staring at things

Agreed. I was looking forward to it so much, and even if the movie wasn't such an incredible bore (maybe excluding the flashback to the '70s) the last 10 minutes would have ruined that anyway. Whoever thought that turn was a good idea?

I have a fantasy of making a movie or TV miniseries based in the Shadowrun universe as it was described in second and third editions. Cyberdecks, wires, chunky keyboards, future-80s hair, chrome eyeballs, elf wizards with way too much hairspray so they all look like David Bowie. :allears:

This'll spit out a text file of that folder and all sub folders. Remove the /s if you don't need the subs.

Are you in a big metropolitan city? As long as they understand stylized lighting you could probably find someone who can work with it.

There was a guy on r/outrun who took in a pick in a car using a red and blue led bulbs and that gave him some pretty good results
