I finally have an almost finished character I want to play and feel a little bit confident about that it could actually work, and now there's a chance the group will switch to another system before I even get to play it once. Figures.

Are there any good rules for handling crowds and panicked mobs? Specifically things like being trampled, swept away with a group, that sort of thing.
|
# ? Jan 24, 2016 20:20 |

I think there's horde rules somewhere, with trampling I'd maybe do like unarmed attack a few times? and with being swept away I'd say agility and reaction, with bonuses if they have a martial art that would help.

Why does the free-fall skill exist and why does it have 5 specializations if there are no parachutes or wingsuits or anything that really go with it in the actual game as items? I am kind of wanting to do a sort of character that uses that with flying drones to get easy access to locations and it makes me sad that I cannot do so because it's only half implemented.

Imagine a wingsuit. Picture it in your mind. Got it? Congrats it's in your SR game. It costs 5000 nuyen, is black and it has red trim. Now go do your freefall checks. Your GM will be fine with this.

Not on shadownet they're not, sadly. If you wanna league game you're stuck with the glories of RAW.Tias posted:Fate takes away the one thing some grogs really love about SR, the gear porn. An entire subsystem for buying a thermographic lens for your backup underwater basket weaving kit less so. Ronwayne fucked around with this message at 06:22 on Jan 27, 2016 |

Hey, I sort of need some help here. I'm a complete and utter newbie to this, but for a class on game development I have to create a character in this (5th edition) and I have absolutely no goddamn clue what I'm doing, everything might as well be written in Latin. Ideally I would like to create the Demi-Fiend from Shin Megami Tensei Nocturne and punch things in the dick to death and hurl off energy beams and such, but I understand that might not be feasible. I know it's kind of a dick move to ask but it's for a class and I have no goddamn idea what I'm doing here. e: I have a pdf of the book and quick-start rules. I just have to create a character for now though and it's a lot of stuff to go through. ManlyGrunting fucked around with this message at 21:52 on Feb 3, 2016 |

Hero lab will not save you. Dehumanize yourself and face to sourcebook. (Seriously, you need to read the stupid thing to get the context for why you would make mechanical choices in chargen.)

I can't think of any game where the chargen engine also has all the rules of the game in there. Come on, man.

Or you know, get cyber arms. Be a sellout. I forget if shadowrun nagas are sapient water snakes or lizard ladies with fish tits like other settings.

Magic fingers. Magic fingers for Everything. I'm kinda doing it now actually. My guys a mage who found out he was q mage by throwing a temper tantrum as a kid which resulted in him casting a flame thrower spell he couldn't control and burning off his hand. Now I have a force 1 focus sustaining magic fingers and he convinces everyone he's a germophobe so they don't question his gloves.

Still not sure how my priority is gonna be though, like obviously I want a ton of magic, since that means the poison is more powerful, but the naga have a default 4 max agility.

You know you're doing it right when you've spent 82000 out of your starting 100000 on a pimped out car that provides no real benefit over just getting a stock car. The enhanced image screens together with an internal yerzed out customization can make your car quite amazing. The sky's the limit. edit Actually the sky isn't the limit now when I think about it since you can turn the interior into looking like a space shuttle and have the image screens displaying outer space. It is vastly more profitable to be an auto thief than a Shadowrunner, if you GM is using the book's suggested payouts. When I'm GMing, I pay out quite a bit higher, but also make lifestyle costs more important so at the end of the day the PCs gather spending money at about the same rate. It cuts down on them stealing everything that isn't nailed down. Liquid Communism fucked around with this message at 06:47 on Feb 17, 2016 |

I've always taken the approach that anything stolen like that would end up reported and they'd have to sell it to a fence to get maaaaybe 1/4 the listed price, though I'm intrigued how you manage the carrot end of that problem over the stick. What do you do to make lifestyle costs more important?

What do you do to make lifestyle costs more important? Simple. If the players don't keep them up, they have to deal with the consequences. Like their landlords selling them out to the people looking for them, or the local gang coming 'round to demand their protection money. Or the local go-gang lifting their car, since cars in SR5 at least are woefully easy to gank. The last thing runners want is their bolthole being the site of a shootout or burglary, and being known to be such a cheapass that you can't keep up the rent is bad for the rep.
