I'd like to post this up, I'm a bit on the fence with it, but it's something at least. Supernormal Step Skin Deep is another one I've seen mentioned once or twice in the old thread, it's fun enough with obscure myths. I'd almost recommend Zombie Ranch for the, "Is this traced from porn?" game, but even then it's a boring slog to get through. At least it's not Misfile which is a long, boring slog to get through and without enough anything to make it fun to even make fun of.

Supernormal Step falls into a weird category for me. I like the art, and I want to like the comic, but whenever I read it, I find myself just not caring at all about the characters or what happens to them. It's like watching a Michael Bay movie - all flash, no substance. Edit: Come to think of it, that's pretty much exactly how I feel about Ava's Demon as well.

Man, those are straight up literal tentacles of fog in Derelict. Artistic metaphor or the Miasma turns out to be a weird gaseous creature?

I'm pretty sure we've seen the fog expressed as tentacles before in the story, haven't we? It's implied that breathing the fog does funny things to people.

I just launched a new webcomic which I hope it's okay to plug here. It's called Latchkey Kingdom! and it's an all-ages comic about an adventurous girl in comical danger. The first chapter is already up, it's inspired by The Legend of Zelda but it's my hope that it'll be perfectly entertaining even to people unfamiliar with that franchise.

My good friend draws and writes the webcomic Cosmic Dash. It's a science-fiction webcomic about this turtle mechanic named Dash who works for a galactic shipping company and goes on adventures. Here's a link to the first issue, featuring a romp in a theme park. The creator has a SA account, but he mainly lurks. Perhaps I'll try to lure him into this thread.

Is there any particular reason why your RSS feed has no title and doesn't post anything but the page names like "Jinx 21"? Your site doesn't even have ads to make the reader look at. Generally, when the feed doesn't post the pages or even page previews to click, I usually just don't bother reading the comic. (And you have to be Oglaf-good for me to click the previews.)

Do people really think Ava's Demon is too slow? The updates are often 10+ panels long, and contain more story progression than you get from a lot of page-a-week standard format comics (and remember that it'll be doubling up to twice a week fairly soon since the kickstarter made the biggest stretch goal). Sure it's not gonna match a page-a-day comic, but on a per update basis it's no worse than many others, and a lot better than stuff like Charles Christopher which has a lot of side gag comics (I love those myself, but it means the plot progression is glacial) or Derelict which has a very irregular schedule. I rather like the panel by panel method, it's like a cross between comics and cinema, and transitions between panels allow you to see little changes in a more animation-like way and the fact that there is no variation in panel size and positioning doesn't have to be restrictive if you think of it more like a cinema screen than part of a page cut up and stuck on your computer. There are plenty of places where it enhances the visual storytelling, there are two panel transitions this week where there are just small changes between character positions which carry a lot of meaning, and because each panel is in the same screen position those small changes are very apparent. It's a more "directed" experience than page based comics, but that's because it's trying to do something a bit different. I honestly like the plot/dialogue too, I'm interested in the characters and in what happens next. She has preloading on the page now too, when you're looking at panel 1 panel 2 is loading in the background so as long as you're not rushing through the panels in like a second it's a fairly smooth reading experience

This is just taste, but there is not really anything I find that interesting in it and a lot of stuff I find annoying, and the format and writing have a tendency to make it feel like kind of stiff story-boards which in turn makes it hard for me to "get-into" it (same problem with all of your examples). I mean there's plenty of people that Like it though and I can totally understand why they do, but I also understand why people would not care for it or not get the appeal. I don't really think your going to reach a comfortable consensus on it.

Wonderella is one of those comics like Wondermark and SMBC where I know I like it but I always forget to check it regularly, and so I always end up doing mini archive binges once I remember it's there. What I'm saying is thanks for the reminder.
