Hey fellow Perthgoon HellCommander! Yeah a lot of the Perthites here who play infinity know your roommate. He's a good bloke (and helped immensely with the game too!).

As KR Multicase is having a birthday sale on at the moment (buy an Aluminium, Kaiser or Backpack with trays and get a standard sized card case for free), I am going to take advantage of it I think to get myself a carrying bag. Anyone else here use them for Infinity, and if so, which size did you choose for your miniatures?

It helps that I've got a housemate to teach me how I can be less bad at the game, (I could start by playing more generic PanO and less MO).
Speaking of Infinity in Perth, which clubs get a good turnout? I only moved to Perth a few days ago so I still have no clue what the local wargaming scene is like.

Best thing about an airbrush is that you can use it in your garage. It also puts down a better primer coat than can primer too.

Headed out to our store's Halloween Infinity event: a casual two-round tournament with big zombie-murdering scenario afterward. All of the worst ITS scenarios (Lifeblood and Supplies) but with zombies as objectives (verify and cleanse). Also, 200 pt armies with no spec ops. We can bring two, but I'm lazy and it's casual so I'm just bringing one.

After a year of playing MO, I'm bringing out my vanilla Haqq again. I want to see if I can project some board control without a link team.

It's not particularly complicated. First time including Saladin in a list, so I'm probably not getting the most use out of him, but I want at least two specialists so I don't have room for a Fiday or anything like that.

Love the Lasiq and the rocket launcher firestorm. I pity any ALEPH or Tohaa you come across!

And yeah, Saladin (or any of the big-name generals) rarely pull their own weight currently, and even less so in mission tournaments: your specialists already have big bullseyes on their foreheaad, but one that will freeze your whole army for a turn once he's down is an irresistible target. At least he's cheap and you won't feel bad if he spends the game hidden.

I re-listened to latest The Krug episode. In addition to 26 point ninjas with tactical bows, they mentioned a Kum release called "The Sisters". Carlos also showed them some sort of a picture on his phone that I think was USAriadna related that apparently literally made one of them shed patriotic tears.

I did the pants and straps. Leather and grey are colors that I've never managed to be happy with the final result though, but I think it looks good enough at this point.

Just need to do the white, the hair, and revisit the face. Did the face in female contrast instead of male contrast without thinking (been painting too many female models for my Viktoria Malifaux crew). Then blackline where needed.

Turns out I was the only guy in my pod who didn't play against Steel Phalanx today.

I got wrecked overall. First game against Corregidor was reasonably under control and I would have smashed him if not for my Lasiq getting critted on a 2 (:argh:), but still earned some points (it ended 4 objective points to 5). Second game, though, I got straight up combat camoed off the table by a Military Orders army. His four infiltrating TO sergeants killed four models in three orders, and that was the end of any board control. Especially when my specialists all got ARO critted (though I could have played one of them better). Wound up earning nothing for that game (0-7) and got last place as a result. Disappointing, and I could have played better, but not entirely surprising. This is why I usually bring a defensive link team to deal with combat camo, and a TO camo sniper of my own for board control. Vanilla Haqq has neither of those. The Ghulam Panzerfausts were very nice in the first game, but they got slaughtered by combat camo in the second. Same deal with the Lasiq sniper.

Odd note: Saladin never died. I was worried about Lt. hunting, but at 200pts people don't have enough orders to both secure the objectives and hunt down some dude who's prone in a building in the back of a deployment zone.

That's sad to hear, Jack. I ted to truggle hard myself whenever facing more than two camos. In regular games you can go slow and steady and be ultra-careful, but the fast and furious flow of tournament games does reward camo camping.

Edit: Didn't see you wanted just one with Dog Warriors and Antipodes.

Well it's going to have to be non-sectorial for the moment, as the Kazak sectorial hasn't been released yet. You'd get 2 Dog Warriors and an Assault pack at that level, which isn't that hard to fit into a 300 pt force.

I was thinking you'd like to stick with the Russian theme, but you can go for whatever you like. This list has multiple specialists in Forward Observers, Doc and Engineer, able to both claim objectives as well as spot out opponents to drop pie plates on their heads using the Traktor Muls. You've got a bunch of regular grunts to give you orders in the first pool with your generic Kazaks, who aren't bad shots btw, as well as being a good cover for your Lt. The Autocannon is there to shoot anything which might threaten the approach of your Dog Soldiers, and your Scout is handy with the Ojotnik (which only gets better in V.3), as well as having a good WIP 14 for doing FO on your opponents, as well as being able to deploy mines for you.

It's a pretty hefty list. Not much in the way of big guns as some other lists, but with 5 Wolf dudes sprinting across the table it probably doesn't need them!

What a fascinatingly unusual cock. Now, allow me to show you my collection...
I've never loved this community more than today.

A few weeks ago, on the way to run introductory activity, I lost my case containing all my ALEPH and Nomads. I spend a lot of time running tournaments, introductory games, and trying to help a community of a game I enjoy so much. It's been a pretty stressful time of year for me, the final semester for my degree, and I lost the case at the start of crunch time, prior to announcing a new Infinity Campaign in the store, and I've still tried to find time to run such activities in spite of these obligations.

One guy saw my post in a Facebook group about my misfortune, investigated which faction is my favorite (ALEPH), which unit is my favorite in that faction (Asuras), and then did this, and just gifted it to me:

It's a converted Posthuman MK3 to an Asura Hacker, and beautifully painted.

This is such a fantastic community.

Just wait till the Kazak sectorial comes out, and you can have all of this, plus your Line Kazak's in a link team!

A friend of mine and myself put together a 300pt Kazak 'hit list', named for causing as much pain as possible to your opponent. Let's just say that a sectorial which will allow you to have AP HMG's in your basic Line Kazak link team is going to be sick.

Basically it breaks down like this - Out of all the Sectorials in Ariadna, Kazak's are the most specialised of all the forces. They very rarely have any cross-over abilities. What do I mean by that? Take a look at the basic troops for Caledonia, Merovingia and the Kazaks. Caledonia and Merovingia have troops in there which have skills like Multiterrain, as well as the ability to take units with Limited Camo/Inferior Infiltration. What do the Kazak's have? +1 BS, and access to AP HMG's, Sniper rifles, Missile launchers and Forward Observers amongst their core troops. Their entire function seems to be about sticking it in and breaking it off. From looking at the skills and weapons available to their troops, they're a force of specialists in their field. Less likely to pull off sneaky maneuvers, more likely to blunt force their ways to victory against their opponents.

If Ariadna gets access to make Harris teams, the Kazak sectorial is going to be fearsome. Because think about what other units in their group might have access to become link teams? I am thinking it's more than likely to be Tankhunters and Veteran Kazak's. Too expensive perhaps to make a 5 man team on their own, but a Fireteam? Why not! Imagine a 3 man Tankhunter link team consisting of an Autocannon, AP HMG and one with a AP Rifle and ADHL. It's 3 SWC, but it's also a terror. A terror that starts in Camo deployment no less.

They also have the only access to the Ojotnik, which in my opinion in v.3 is going to beat out other sniper weapons (AP and regular) for those units which can be deployed at half-table distance. Their sweet spot will allow them to cover the entire board if they're placed using infiltration, only being let down at 0-8 range, which their antipersonnel mines helps mitigate somewhat. A burst 2, DMG 14 AP rifle is nothing to sniff at. The AP Sniper rifle is nice, but I'd rather have dudes that use their infiltration to the best advantage, especially when it allows them better chances to hit, as well as doing things like marking enemy units via Forward Observing and the like.

Also the new Marksmanship L2 on the Spetsnazs is brutal as hell. Boarding shotgun that fires AP ammo that has both shock and ignores partial cover due to his Marksmanship L2? And on a troop that has mimetism and AD: Parachutist? Sign me the hell up!

They are essentially the beatstick faction for ranged combat in Ariadna, and don't suck with close combat much with the Assault Packs or Dog Soldiers. Where they look like they might be a bit deficient is lack of decent hacking (which Ariadna has universally), limited access to smoke grenades (Dog Soldiers and Assault Pack controller only), and expensive specialist units, possibly putting 5 man link teams of expensive troops out of reach, meaning you're more likely to need to fall back on using Line Kazak's as your main link team. You'll also have problems with TO camo and ODD because of the lack of access to fire based weapons, and no real access to much MSV 1 (though a Vet Kazak can have both, which is pretty funny - first you burn them, then you shoot them at no negative due to your MSV 1).

But apart from that, they've got some really impressive options, and I expect that the decrease in points costs across the board for many units will be beneficial for them too, seeing a reduction in costs for units like the Scouts etc. It's going to be a really interesting Sectorial, especially if you're after something which is low on subtlety but high in beating your opponents face in. I look forward to seeing it's release.
