Any obvious holes I have in the army? I already have the minis marked with X plus the second GŬILÁNG and KEMPEITAI. Otherwise I'am pretty wide open for suggestions.

I do want to have an option to run Japanese-only list in future, but I kinda liked the look of Guilangs.

Changed the invicible to SJ-I & ordered some minis. I'll have to fine-tune the list as soon as I've faced my opponents Space-scots & Nomads.

Rules question about hacking:
Can you use all short-skill hacking as an ARO? TAG shoot your hacker & he tries to immobilize the TAG?
If true: Can you defensive hack against ARO-hacking, even in your active turn, or is that ARO only?

Are you no longer able to lay mines during deployment?

Minelayer-special rule allows that, but it isn't in Main rulebook. It's from the Human Sphere, so currently only guys without 3rd edition rules have it.

It might get removed/changed when the update.pdf:s come, but until then, it works exactly same as in 2nd edition.

Are they actually that bad? You can pretty much awaken 4 of them with a command + order token. Or just let them be order-monkeys for the first turn.

2nd order, a Surprise shot with a bow (both miss)
3rd order, still misses
4th order, throws the bow away and shoots pistol (gets killed by the doctors combi-rifle)

I probably should have just used the 2nd order to get into cc.

Now this wasn't even the worst part of the game. My opponent had Heavy grenade Launcher TAG, but It was badly protected. So I started first turn with a 3-woman Karakuri linked team doing assassination run. They eliminated few lone fusiliers and got within 8 inches of the monstrosity. I used a command token to shoot everyones DEP:s at it (15 or less). Everyone misses.

Hey I had a question about AROs, typically where the model is when they trigger.

Lets say I have a Father-Knight captain facing against 2 doods. Lets say they are in an open field and both doods have los to him. He spends his first order moving into base to base with dood A. Second action to attack.

How would the AROs play out? Would dood A be able to do a BS attack? At the start of the move action dood A wasn't engaged. Would dood B be able to make a BS attack even though the Father-Knight captain is engaged with dood A?
In addition to others answers:
Doods have to declare their ARO:s after Father-knights does his move and you can decide your second half of the order knowing what their ARO:s are. In this example you could do the CC-attack against one guy or you could shoot and distribute your burst between them. Or if the one of the doods ending up in CC-range decides to dodge, you could just shoot the one not dodging and hope that the dodger fails.

I wouldn't even bother with using forward observing with that gimmick team.
You'll have to spend 1-2 orders for each targeted result and risk losing those orders permanently from AROs.
I'd just take the -6 to hit and shoot 6 times each turn. It still works on 9 or less and is much less risky.
FO:s are pretty useful for completing missions after you crush your enemies.

Its based on open knowledge anyway.

Yeah basically, iirc it falls under points costs which aren't public info either. Ill get the rule checked for you.

I'm not that familiar with other armies, but All Yu Jing lieutenant options share the same weapon/skill bundle with another figure that isn't lieutenant.
Basically every experienced player (or those who checks it during the game), should know which of the non-camo figures on the table are potential targ lieutenants.

Flipswitch posted:

The answer from our SuperModerator is; No, which is why SWC/Points Costs are considered private info.

You can still look it up in advance if you want, or even during a game really, but that's kind of being a dick in a casual game and in competitive you'll just clock yourself out soo.

Where do you pull swc/point costs into it? Issue has nothing to do with that.

Quick example from army4:
JAPANESE SECTORIAL ARMY
──────────────────────────────────────────────────

GROUP 1 8 0 2

KEISOTSU Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife.
KEISOTSU Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife.
KEISOTSU Combi Rifle+ Light Grenade Launcher / Pistol, Knife.
KEISOTSU (Forward Observer) Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife.
YURIKO ODA Combi Rifle, Panzerfaust, D-Charges, Antipersonnel Mines / Pistol, CCW.
ARAGOTO Combi Rifle + Light Shotgun / Pistol, Knife.
ARAGOTO Boarding Shotgun / Pistol, Knife.
NINJA Combi Rifle / Pistol, Shock CCW.

I haven't marked the lieutenant in above list.
From above selection of models, first 2 keisotsus could be lieutenant, 3 & 7 have weapon, 4 has skill that lieutenant cannot have. 5 and 8 don't have ltn. option. 6 could be lieutenant.
Every player is capable of deducing this from your models.

All of the above is based on open information and IMHO is within the spirit of sharing open information with your opponent. :)

Of course, if your only legal option on the table is single Keisotsu with combi-rifle, it is pretty obvious to even newbies.

Because some models cost SWC to be Lts.

That's beside the point. Question is shorthand for: Which models in the table have same name, open equipments and open skills as the valid lieutenants options for your army. You don't need any private information to deduce that.

Edit: And if I remember correctly: If something isn't explicitly private information, it is open information.

It will probably be the longest first turn followed by very short 2nd and 3rd turns.

Adding Impetuous Smoke Grenade-dudes (daturazi/Oznat) might protect them on your turn, but you'd still need to add regular orders for them to reach the enemy. Currently they get 2 orders each, which doesn't get them anywhere.

Issaries
Sep 15, 2008

"Negotiations were going well. They were very impressed by my hat." -Issaries the Concilliator"
They'll be eating 1-2 ARO shots per order. More if there's Total Reaction or suppressive fire guys on the table.
As they all home into closest enemy, they tend to clump together. In these conditions explosive is a liability. When they go unconscious to an ARO, they'll take their comrades with them. a Massive chain-reaction even!

But good luck for the try. Your best change is that your opponent doesn't know what to do with millions of hungries facing them.

BTW: Is there any Regular+Impetious troops with AVA:TOTAL that could make this kind of list to work?

Most of these Impetious fodders are either irregulars or have limited AVA.

Closest I know are Kuang Shi:s for ISS and they're AVA:8, which isn't enough.

Sounds good, even if they cost a lot. I've only faced 4 at a time and they were pretty scary.

16 Daturazi = 224

Which would leave 76 points for 3 specialists to complete missions and 1 ltn.
Probably doable and there would be 36 orders to use.

I'm tempted to proxy this out and die gloriously for the Morat Aggression Force.

EDIT: Or just add maximum of 4+4 hungries for 40p and forego mission specialists!

Suppressing Fire is great, but has some weaknesses the opponent can exploit. It has to be set up outside of Line of Fire, or enemy will shoot you straight. It only has the range of 24", so Long range Snipers / HMG can force you to abandon SF or eat bullets.

That depends on the mission description:

On 2 Rulebook missions, they specifically say that either a Miniature or Marker counts. (Armory, Supremacy)

Nimbus Zone on other hand it specifically says that only models can control consoles, not markers.

If you are talking about a Third-party missions/scenarios, it could go either way.
