So now I'm looking at Aleph too. I'm having trouble seeing who the PanO cheerleader unit is supposed to be. I guess it's Fusiliers? How is Aleph's ability to take 4pt netrods not unbalancing in terms of being able to generate a bunch of orders for a very low point cost? I think I'm liking the looks of the Aleph cheerleader models and also the prevalence of mimetism/camo and no wound incapacitation in the army.

I'm not very good at this game, but as far as netrods go I think consensus is that it kinda is broken, but everything else Aleph has is so expensive that it's not too broken.

I'm preordering Operation: Icestorm, and I want to get an additional box for each faction to expand it out and play bigger games with my friends. I don't have any PanO or Nomad stuff. What would be good purchases to compliment the stuff in the box?

Edit: I'm thinking the Tunguska Interventors box for Nomad and then the Kamau Hacker/Guarda de Assalto for PanO.

Swagger Dagger: It's hard to say much about interventors or any other hackers as the rules will be redone (and apparently vastly expanded) very soon. I would say for additional boxes, the starter sets for the various sectorial armies are good places to look. Value for money and gives you a number of models. If cost is a factor, things with small ancillary models like auxbots, koalas and pandas, or massier models like remotes, give you a bit less gameplay bang for their greater bucks cost.
So Nomads: bakunin and corregidor starters both good, Morlocks box gives you interesting and fun warband troops (if you're into that weird Bakunin poo poo), you could get some of the hellcat or tomcat drop troops.
PanO: Neoterra, MO or Acontecimento boxes all good, auxilia box maybe.

For individual models it is hard for me to actually recommend because there is so much variety. Throw out some names you like the look of and I'll explain what they do in (the current) rules.

Thanks for the advice. I think I'm just going to get the Icestorm box and each faction's spec ops right now so I can try out different scenario rules. Down the line I want to get the Capitaline Army and Bolts for PanO since I love the models more than anything else in the faction, and probably Hellcats for Nomads.

I wasn't sure if it folded or not, sorry. If you like the aesthetics, the WorldWorks Terrainlinx stuff is made to store flat but you're not going to get any multi-story buildings out of it. You can really easily make a 4x4 "mat" that slides together really sturdily and add a bunch of walkways and upper levels to it to compliment bigger buildings you find elsewhere, though.

I've put together some of their fantasy terrain, and it was high quality stuff. You just print it out and glue it to foamcore, and it anchors well so stuff doesn't knock around.

Sectorials get a limited selection of models in exchange for being able to make link teams. By going vanilla you get to use whatever models you want, which is cool, and there are some armies where only the vanilla faction gets access to some cool TAGs or whatever..

Well it's going to have to be non-sectorial for the moment, as the Kazak sectorial hasn't been released yet. You'd get 2 Dog Warriors and an Assault pack at that level, which isn't that hard to fit into a 300 pt force.

I was thinking you'd like to stick with the Russian theme, but you can go for whatever you like. This list has multiple specialists in Forward Observers, Doc and Engineer, able to both claim objectives as well as spot out opponents to drop pie plates on their heads using the Traktor Muls. You've got a bunch of regular grunts to give you orders in the first pool with your generic Kazaks, who aren't bad shots btw, as well as being a good cover for your Lt. The Autocannon is there to shoot anything which might threaten the approach of your Dog Soldiers, and your Scout is handy with the Ojotnik (which only gets better in V.3), as well as having a good WIP 14 for doing FO on your opponents, as well as being able to deploy mines for you.

It's a pretty hefty list. Not much in the way of big guns as some other lists, but with 5 Wolf dudes sprinting across the table it probably doesn't need them!
