Stand back I'm going to try science!
I think this update would be less confusing if I didn't have more credits that I knew what to do with.

Hydraulics and Armor makes for an amazing combination when tuning mechs. Anyone else feel running around with more level 1 items and internals seems better than a few level 2 or 3 items.

The $30 for "early access" will go away after a month or two, but I'm not going to lie that it's a decent hurdle to overcome if you want to bring your friends in for the ride.

All it's really doing is turning off people who heard it was free to play and upsetting veterans who want to get their friends in on the action.

I understand the reasons, but I think it's rather silly. I'd rather have the servers go to poo poo for a week or two than have waning interest in the game. The player loss you'll get from unstable servers is much less than the loss you'd get from hyping up a free to play game that isn't free to play currently for those who weren't involved in the early days.

Hell, why even do an "early access"? Those who wanted early access got it when the game originally entered public beta. Why not wait until it leaves beta to put it up on Steam? :v:

People generally don't come back to games, if they have a lovely experience when it comes to performance. They move on and play something else. Look at the last two battlefield games, people get sick of putting up with stuff and move on.

Steam provides Hawken with a new audience to target. Hawken needs grow their player base at a controlled rate. If they just launched it on steam with no barrier for entry it would be a nightmare(see above). On the other hand they need to grow and stabilize their current player base. The $30 for early access allows them to grow slowly and gets some additional revenue. $30 is little higher than I would have gone but the idea behind it is very sound.

So wait when I see stuff listing a price in HC and MC, I only have to pay one or the other price and not both? poo poo I'd been playing without internals or anything because I didn't want to spend my MCs just yet.

This is correct. You can pay with HC OR MC. Hawken is one of the new f2p games that, ruined its game with the f2p model in my opinion. I should really start playing this again.
