Vesperia is pretty Not Stupid for a jrpg, even characters that you expect to be total idiots are actually kinda cool in their own ways. It's a real shame the only version available in english is a beta version of the game.

You're downplaying the changes they made to the combat to make it even more rad (you can't just go into over limit as yuri and rub the controller over your face and win, for one). Maybe "beta" is a harsh term, but it's pretty clear they just intentionally left lots of stuff out of the game to make the GLORIOUS NIPPON ps3 version better.
