We also need to know why running is his shtick. What is Running Man running from? What could be so horrifying that you must literally spend your whole life in constant movement to get away from it?

A huge tip: You can't be noticed by enemies who are coughing from smoke, generally speaking. It's possible to smoke grenade the one target and both his buddies and then CQC-chain all of them and abscond with the target. Actually the thing most likely to spot you is the guard in the tower nearby, the actual escort guys are chumps.

Really stoked that Ground Zeroes got a price drop to $20. I'm getting a PS4 around Black Friday/Cyber Monday, and it's nice that I won't have the sticker shock most people had at launch.

I played it on PS3 but I am awaiting the PC release for two main reasons: 1) smoother gameplay and clear graphics and 2) owning the poo poo out of the Intel Operative mission by using the mouse to aim.

Same here. I also have this delusion that Konami will release HD Collection on Steam some time. And I feel stupid because I've seen the Zero Punctuation review lately and the guy spoiled pretty much all the twists in the game.

I don't think that is much of a delusion. At this point, especially if GZ sells well, there may be a serious chance of something like the HD collection popping up on Steam even before TPP is released. MGS4/Legacy collection may even be a possibility if nothing else happens before TPP.

Regardless, I am super pumped for GZ on PC. I didn't bother with it on PS3, lower framerates tend to give me migraines. Figured I'd at least wait for TPP before paying too much attention, but since both have been announced for release on Steam and I couldn't be more happy. Pulled out the HD collection and have been running through Sons of Liberty a bunch. Going to do a MGS3+Peace Walker story marathon over Thanksgiving to maybe hype up a friend, and hopefully in the long run we'll be invading one another's base sometime next year.

I could talk for a long time about how the Battle Beauty bossfights and their treatment as far as backstory is concerned is clearly meant as self parody and is the logical conclusion of the treatment of the boss fight characters between 1-2-3-4 but instead I'm going to say that the stupid videogame review man is dumber than me and I love to make the sexy octopus and friends strut around.

If by 100% you mean "do everything in the game," the PS1 version of the original for sure. No dogtags, no collectable camos, only a couple of unlockable items, the ghost pictures are like the only thing you'd have to go out of your way to get. It's also really short if you're rushing through with stealth camo.

I meant trophies. Didn't even think of the original. I've beaten it twice or thrice but don't know what ghost pictures are. And can you change your camo in MGS?

it's possible to get the MGS3 Platinum in one run. I did it. It can be frustrating at the end though since getting all the kerotans while also not killing anyone is difficult and takes a lot of reloading saves during the end chase sequence. Also a guide because you're likely not going to find those on your own without knowing where to look on your first run.

RJWaters2

It was not not not so great
And on the other hand, you have to beat MGS2 on every difficulty to get 100% of the dog tags, I can't imagine anyone actually has done this.

How in the bluest of all fucks do you get those kerotans in the bike chase near the end? I wasn't even going for them and I saw one at like a roadblock on the mountain trail part and I don't see how you can hit that one. I am absolutely horrible at aiming in any of the games before MGS4 though, so that may have something to do with it.

I'm on MGS4 now in my playthrough of the series and I still really love that game. The first time I played it, I wasn't really into MGS and had no idea what was really going on as I had only played 2 and 3 (and that had been years and years before) but now having played them all and so recently, the story actually makes sense. I mean, it's still convoluted as all hell, but I'm actually following it a lot better now.

That one isn't even the hardest. If you're not trying for all trophies in one run you can use a rocket launcher, otherwise you have to use a sniper as you're coming in on it. The ones in the airstrip are way worse. Basically I had to rapid fire it and hope I hit them, and if I didn't, immediately reload. Luckily you can typically hear the ribbits if you hit it, if you don't notice the animation itself.

I know Games slowly did an about-face on Zero Punctuation, but I find myself agreeing with most of his criticisms, especially when it came to the MGS4 review. I know being overly negative or nit-picky is part of his schtick, but at least it's better than IGN or whatever fawning over a game (http://www.ign.com/articles/2010/02/12/falling-in-love-with-an-idea?page=2 :barf: ) or giving it an inflated score. His criticisms usually aren't unfounded from what I've seen.

Dont judge me, I design your manhole
If I recall, his big stinger toward MGS4 was "MGS has always been badly written", which is really just a gigantic "Duh", so I didn't really care much about what he had to say about the game. I don't really think MGS4 is badly written in the same way the other games are though. It's bad without really being funny at all, so it's just long and boring garbage.

That's a pretty good way to put it. Writing in MGS and MGS3 had a lot of cheese but it was really endearing whereas 2 and 4 just go on and on like a wiki page.

Re: female characters in MGS4: I don't remember anything about the four beauties apart from the fact that one could fly and one had Doctor Octopus tentacles and at the end they jumped out of their suit completely wet and posed for pictures. That's simply bad writing.

I got everything in MGS2 and MGS4 (before they had trophy support). 4 is probably the 'easiest' of all of them to get 100%, in my opinion. The 3DS version of Snake Eater might also be easier with the addition of crouch-walking, but I'm not sure.

All I remember about 100%-ing MGS2 is fighting something like 25 MG Rays while only being able to survive one or two hits. It's the only part in the game where you get a ration on that difficulty.

The reason you don't remember anything about them is because literally the only time they are ever even mentioned outside of your fight with them is when Drebin tells you their life story after you kill them. The game ALMOST pretends they don't even exist outside their fights except for Mantis.
