Who hasn't played flash games? There's so many of them, enough to makes websites like Newgrounds and Kongregate huge. It's a great stepping stone for amateurs to get their feet wet making games, or to stretch their creativity in nifty sprite action sequences. Of course, a lot of it is crap, but there's still half-decent ones out there.

In this thread, I and others (maybe even you?) will be playing all sorts of Flash games. From the great to the horrible, it'll be a nice look into a side of gaming that's often mocked. Hopefully this thread will let us all embrace the fun qualities of Flash games, crappy animation, goofy humor, and all.

A few ground rules.

* NO NUDITY. This is the easiest and safest way to deal with adult-rated content without getting into all sorts of subjective arguments between what is art and what is pornography (which is what 60% of all flash games are anyway). If there's only a minor amount, censor it.
* HOLY gently caress DON'T POST PORN GAMES. Seriously, I shouldn't have to say this, but yet I have to. Remember that posting that kind of poo poo is against the rules here, and nobody here wants to see it anyway.
* Both screenshot and video LP's are welcome here. If using screenshots, please use the test poster for less clutter. Either way, I recommend labeling which you're doing for convenience's sake.
* I'll try my best to include all LP's posted here, but if I accidentally skip you, please contact me through PM's, AIM, or Twitter and I'll be sure to add it.

Other than that, play whatever you want, and LP it however you want! Hopefully we'll get some good entertainment out of this, perhaps even find a few hidden gems!

First off is Final Fantasy Flash RPG, a rather basic game with dated humor, general bugginess, and a few poorly-thought out ideas, though it has its charm. Pretty much a good way to start the thread off!

e: Probably most up-to-date version is here. Haven't really touched it, but it seemed to fix Cloud having 0HP and instantly dying.

There were a ton of these FF-clones, weren't there? I remember playing this one where you go around killing FF protagonists for whatever reason, and thinking that was the best one. I wonder if I can still find it somewhere.

I've been sort of hoping to see a thread like this, there's a flash game I used to love a long time ago, despite its many foibles, and I wanted to take a shot at LPing it, so thank you, Mega64!

I'd love some feedback/advice on this, things I could do better, whether or not I should do it at all, etc.

I do hope you don't mind me butting in like this, though. I've never taken part in this kind of thread before!

EBF 3 is a game with questionable writing, which is probably unsurprising, but a a huge amount of content, fairly high-quality art, good music, and lots of nice animations. On the whole, it's a pretty ace flashgame.

I guess the best way to sum it up is Flash Final Fantasy as written by a 4channer, content designed by someone with entirely too much time, but plenty of good ideas, and art and such by someone who is... pretty awesome by flashgame standards. I'll be showing off just about everything, despite the fact that this is almost certainly going to take quite a while.

Ooooh, nice choice 100%jf! I've played that particular entry in the series through to completion, and I can attest to its quality. (There's not that many boob jokes.) The spinoff side-scrolling platformer/action game is pretty decent too.

Oh, and if anyone doesn't mind a loooong JRPG game... Might I suggest Mardek? It's big enough to come in episodes, though the first is basically a little intro segment.

There's also The Enchanted Cave, but it's basically that bit from Lufia II. Might be good for a brief look.

The writing in the Epic Battle Fantasy games is pretty groanworthy, but I have to say I'm a sucker for the gameplay; the second one is probably the closest a turn-based RPG could ever get to being described as 'arcadey'. There are things the games do that I wish those fancy pay-money-for type RPGs did. First and foremost on the list is how equipment works; you don't go from a rusty dagger to the Excalibur +2 or anything like that. Every piece of equipment is powerful in its own way, at least in theory. I'm sure there are some optimum equipment setups for the game, but for the most part no sword or armor is 'better' than the others, it's just specialized in a different way, and you need to manage and swap them out whenever their different specializations are needed.

I haven't tried the fourth one yet. Maybe I should take a whack at it and see how many memes and references were crammed into the game this time.

My best advice would be to use what you think is amusing or interesting and leave out everything else. If there's nothing that interesting from them then there's no reason to show it right?

From the sound of it there's a lot of NPCs in the game so it might get kinda bloated if you show all of it.

Why do you ask when you know what the answer will be?

Post this terrible abomination of a flash game without delay. If necessary, use guest commentators to make it interesting or copious amounts of alcohol to make it bearable. Preferably, you should combine the two and have everyone involved drink heavily both before and while recording.

Yeah, don't feel like you have to include everything if you think it would be dull. Show off the more entertaining NPCs, and if there are a huge amount of quests, you may want to summarize the duller ones and show off the more interesting ones. It's pretty good so far, though.

I can legitimately say that only one thing about Mardek annoyed me, and that was when the rarest enemy in an area was given a 10% drop that couldn't be found any other way. That drop was also the only thing that taught a certain skill (because learning skills in Mardek works on a vaguely AP-like system).

I could not get that drat drop. Lady Luck kicked me in the nuts, over and over again. That's less the game and more my own personal bad luck though.
