A lot of people think Kingsbury is the "hot new coach" that will be scooped up by a big school and will own bones. Not sure if thats accurate, but he does have significant success as an OC and seems to know what he is doing. He wouldn't be a terrible hire.

So is Minnesota now looking for a new coach? You have to think they are at this point. Kill is stepping aside for an undetermined amount of time, I think he should just retire at the end of the year and step aside so a new guy can come in and start coaching and be as effective as possible. I don't think any of the current assistants have done anything to warrant a HC job, unless Claeys gets some good wins as the interim.

His real downfall last year was the scheme Coach Sal put in that Tennessee didn't have the players for. Still neither one of them had a class at UT like UT currently has. This is the type of class (no matter how it finishes) that fills some of the big needs we have right now. Will Jones win at UT? No idea, but I like our chances under Jones more than I did under Dooley. I know you love to poo poo on Jones (not the first time), and you maybe right, but please excuse UT fans having a positive outlook given how the last 5 years have gone. He is our coach, and I will give him 3 to 4 years to show me he is the man for the job.

He's really close with Belichick.

Doesn't matter. This isn't spygate style stuff. No player is ever going to trust him and rightfully so. He isn't a Belichick style rear end in a top hat, he is a whole new breed himself who isolates and alienates half the players in the locker room, and the other half only tolerate it because they are replaceable.

I could see him having another shot after a few years kind of like how Carrol did, but I don't expect him to have another NFL job after this one for a while, even as a DC. Maybe as a position coach, but no more.

The only reason Saban would go to Texas is money. All the other arguments about tradition, recruiting, facilities, etc. are moot. Alabama can do all those just as well with Saban at the helm. The only thing Alabama doesn't have that Texas does is a poo poo ton of oil money.

As for personal preference, he's already competing at the highest possible level with very good facilities and access to recruiting areas as fertile as what he'd have in California, so unless he's just really in love with the idea of coaching in California it's really pretty close to being a lateral move.

Yes and no. The big question mark is would he leave Louisville for Florida. He has shown immense loyalty to them for giving him his first shot, especially given the fact he was passed over year after year for a HC gig for the stupidest of reasons. However, he has put in "his time" and wouldn't be seen as just dumping them since he has stayed for several years. I feel like a number of coaches do it almost as a retirement. People joked (and still do) that the only reason Spurier went to South Carolina was for the golf. Schnellenberger coached at FAU too and took them to a bowl game pretty quickly. Its kind of different with Snyder, but he came out of retirement to Kansas State. I know there are a few more I can't think of right now.

Someone in the GDT just (jokingly) suggest Steve Addazio for UF. While he wouldn't be good for UF, I could see him moving up a tier to a better program. The guy can't call plays for poo poo, but he somehow managed to be respectable at Temple (albeit Golden probably left a nice stock for him) and now doing pretty good at BC.

Florida will be this year's USC, except we are going to fire him after losing to Tennessee or Kentucky at the beginning of the year and limp for another season til we hire someone. The problem is that he is in the same situation Lane Kiffin was in last year. He is on a very short leash and any loss to a team he is expected to beat will result in his mid-season dismissal. Here is the schedule next year:

Aug. 30: Idaho, TBA
Sept. 6: Eastern Michigan, TBA
Sept. 13: Kentucky, TBA

(a loss to any of these results in his firing)

Sept. 20: at Alabama, TBA

(He can lose here and keep his job assuming he has won the first 3)

Sept. 27: Bye week
Oct. 4: at Tennessee, TBA

(Losing here means he hitchhikes back from Knoxville)

Oct. 11: LSU, TBA

(Also an acceptable loss)

Oct. 18: Missouri, TBA
Oct. 25: Bye week
Nov. 1: Georgia, TBA (in Jacksonville)

(Muschamp has yet to beat Georgia, so this is probably the highest pressure game)

Nov. 8: at Vanderbilt, TBA
Nov. 15: South Carolina, TBA
Nov. 22: Eastern Kentucky, TBA
Nov. 29: at Florida State, TBA

(He has to go 3-1 on this stretch or he is done)

If Muschamp wants to stay past the next season, he has to have a 10 win season. Dude is as gone as gone can be. We should just hire a new coach. The only reason to keep him is that Foley thinks someone even better will b e available or poachable in 2015 and he is just biding time. Chip Kelly could be possible as his show cause would be gone, but that is assuming he flames out in the NFL.
