I think you should be able to once the launch problems die down. There's definitely options to join a friend's session and to invite crew members to activities.

So for those who haven't realized... I just found out you can deposit your cash into the bank during a mission. So when you are running a bunch of missions in a row with goons, make sure to deposit most of your cash before finishing your final round. That way when you drop back into freeroam you only have 1 mission worth of cash on you.

You still lose money to hospital fees when you die in free roam though right? I'm assuming putting your cash into the stock market will guard against this, but I didn't want to tempt fate by relying on BAWSAQ remaining up.

My new iPhone wouldn't even break a sweat transcribing all the things every player says and throwing them onto the screen so it's easy to read and identify who said what, and into a log to be checked or laughed at later. Not to mention the game itself being able to interpret my voice almost perfectly for a wide variety of gameplay functions, almost no matter how I word the request. I sure hope the next generation of consoles can do that stuff, because the lovely audio quality and no way to know who's saying what other than memorizing voices is getting REALLY old.

You are really greatly exaggerating how good Siri is. It fucks up like half the time even when I make a special effort to enunciate clearly. Controlling a game with it would be a nightmare.

So I'm curious as to what's actually causing characters to disappear. Are they being straight up deleted by the RGSC servers or is something preventing them from being accessed?

edit: I should mention that I don't expect a solid answer, just interested in some theorycrafting.

I think it's that the servers are down/inaccessible, so the game thinks no character exists. Many people in that situation have had characters reappear. The chances are good if your character still appears on the social club website.

Except a bunch of people like myself made new characters which saved over the old ones, so in those cases the originals are gone forever. The notes for the current patch say that a bug existed which meant that even creating a temporary character or a character in slot 2 could overwrite the original slot 1 character, which I'm pretty certain is what happened to me, as I lost my original character pre patch and never touched slot 1 in the hope he would reappear.

I assumed as much so I started yet another new character (but in slot 2 in case the original returns) and encountered a strange issue when I returned after a break and loaded her up.

Maybe my old male character is still alive somewhere in the cloud and has possessed my new female one? Another reload should sort out this issue.

Hmmm.

I don't believe this is as intended. If you die while carrying actual money, the game still deducts the money from your bank instead of the cash on hand (I had like 1800 in cash). I am pretty sure this is still bugged and not functioning correctly.

If it is functioning the way rockstar intended it's still hosed up as it's to expensive to have fun in free roam.

You aren't supposed to lose any cash on hand unless you have more than $5000. The hospital fees are a separate thing from that, whether they are an intended feature or a bug.

I wonder if it's OK for me to create a new character on the 2nd character slot while they work out the issues on my main guy.

I think your first character is gone, if you can access other cloud stuff like BAWSAQ and snapmatic and they don't appear. I'm in the same situation and tried a slot 2 character, which appears to be saving properly (so far). Surely if the cloud can retrieve my second character and BAWSAQ and snapmatic then it should be able to get my first guy if he still exists.

Mind you I don't know much about this cloud business, is a reason one thing on the cloud might load and another might not?

Edit- and this guy vanished even though I hadn't attempted to make a new character and hadn't hit retry at that screen (didn't even encounter the screen on that character).

There are 3 tiers, low, mid, and high. The high ends start at 200k I think, though there might be one mid level that high. All have the basics, but you get bigger garages and then the heist room with the more expensive ones.

You get half your money back when you upgrade, so if you are on the borderline, just wait until you can get the next level of apartment so you can enjoy the bigger garage.

The expensive ones have windows that let you see the city, as well as any chaos in range. Combined with the spectator mode from the TV, its something mildly entertaining if you are getting some food or whatever.

You should have the achievement already from your first apartment purchase, since it comes with a garage.
