Game is weird since the patch. Red cards in every other game, full-backs getting consistent 9 ratings (15-20 tackles apiece), a bit of ball-on-elastic-band here and there...

I also grabbed one of the benders this time (can remember which one) in a plan to go 4-5-1 with Giroud as backup striker. I might shift it to a 4-3-3 against crap teams though turning the wingers into strikers. Walcott can do that easy and Ozil will adjust I'm sure. I don't play friendlies, so the team/formation has its first test in the league against Chelsea at the Emirates.

Since I can't think of anywhere else for this, I will post it here. If it needs moving or anything just let me know. Has anyone tried the Football Chairman phone game? It's really simple and frustrating but insanely addictive. You start by building a team and hiring a manager with 3 stats (Matches, Coaching and Transfers), from then on you just deal with facilities and transfers. You can improve your training facilities, youth facilities or improve your stadium and during transfer windows you can accept or reject bids for your players whilst acting or or rejecting your managers suggested transfer targets. Games can be instantly skipped and the whole thing moves at a good pace. I currently have 3 promotions under my belt leaving me out of non league obscurity and in League D2!!!! Like I said, it's pretty basic so I can't offer much advice, although sacking my manager and hiring a better one did see me rise from 15th in the table until I eventually finished 3rd and won promotion.

After winning the Premier League, the Champions League and multiple other titles the Board have finally deigned to build a new stadium, taking our capacity to 26,000. Might be a few years before we are challenging the big boys on gate receipts.

I have sunk a heap of time into this over the last couple of weeks, I found it really challenging when you get to the Championship due to lack of funds and being able to attract a manager who can find good players. I started putting all my available funds into the youth team and you can get some amazing, free, low wage players by doing that.

I just sold ten (10) season tickets as Maidenhead. Surely some of my players have a couple of mates who could make that sort of commitment.

After getting Preston North End promoted, the Championship season was a bit tough. After a 1-3-12 stretch from January to late March, we somehow pulled off the Great Escape by going 5-1-1 down the stretch to finish 2 points clear of the drop. When playing as a team with a 55k wages budget, having most of your primary earners injured is no fun.

Why can only one player from each team go for the ball at once? I'm sick of watching the two guys near the ball ignore it while some idiot half the pitch away sprints for it. And then stands still and gets slide tackled.

You know what's a good match strategy that I'd never tried before? Balanced - Standard - No instructions Given up trying to play 'possession football' with Swansea. They've not go the players for it. Fast and loose, hoof it up from defence. gently caress the board.

I've seen people say the board have not been happy with their style of play before, but has anyone ever gotten sacked over it? I assume once the results are ok and you meet your season expectations you'll be ok?

The way i play this game is i use FM genie scout to find all the top top teens and sign them to my conference team then i work my way up and win the champions league, sometimes I have to edit their favorite club to make them sign, and I reload my save when I lose. Can you still do all this?

My Standard/Balanced season hit the rocks big time. Typical mid-season slump. 30 points after 19 games and I'm cruising in mid-table. Winning the games I should win, losing the games I should lose, with the odd humiliating battering away against decent teams (5-1 to Southampton, something similarly depressing against Newcastle). Very few draws. Through to the knockout stages in the Europa using my reserves (admittedly very easy group). Goal difference just the right side of positive. I'm now into April with two wins in 2014 (inc. home against Cardiff 3-2 epic job-saving game). Knocked out of Europe by Valencia. Michu and Bony can't hit the target to save their lives. Switched to the 5-3-2 Juve tactic and ground out a draw at Newcastle (1-1 both goals horrible comedy defending) and a 1-2 away win at Fulham. Next fixtures Utd, Arsenal & Liverpool. Chelsea 4 pts clear of Utd in the league. Man City are 11/12th or something. Replaced Pellegrini with AVB over xmas with no real improvement to results (beat me, though). Norwich, Cardiff and Sunderland (who were top 6 in my last game) favs to go down. The hosed up defender ratings have made half my defenders demand new contracts that I can't afford. Begged the board for more money, which they granted, and I spent it all on getting De Guzman a permanent deal. This wiped his form data and player registration (thinking about it I should have set the completion date to end of season. Would have saved me £5k/week in wages, too). Losing Dyer in the summer cause he's bad. Got Candreva & Benoit Costil coming on a free. I've probably already spent next years transfer budget in clauses so hopefully they do well.

I haven't played nearly as much as I'd have liked to yet, but I am loving the new tactics. It works in ways that make sense rather than abstract terms. For instance my playmaker aml plays more centrally so that my complete fullback with get forward more can overlap on his left, forcing a winger to track back massively or the fullback to make a choice. You do have to keep things like role balance and how rigid you ask the team to be compared to how specialised your roles are though or it all falls apart. Big Per heading in all the goals from corners helps too I guess.

Some things are better, some worse. I miss being able to look at what the actual difference between an AM and an AP is. And they've hidden target man supply options, if they still exist at all.

That really frustrates me, because you used to be able to set a non target man as your cross target. Now that you can set "cross aim target man," that only works if your forwards a good header. It's stupid.
