Stupid pubbies. The DTOP guild does coordinated dry top runs every Friday and Saturday, one hour after reset, that typically go through two runs up to tier 6, and ends with killing the legendary sand giant to cap it off. Loads of fun and lots of geodes.

LS2 is just pure garbage, bite sized instances with sub fan fiction tier writing that you can't even skip for bad rewards.

And I hate the new zones, I shouldn't have to log in and play pattycake to find a good dry top or whatever, know what would be cool? If every like 4 or 8 hours the zone went to level 6 right away, that way you can maybe plan around logging at that time and getting poo poo done, instead of depending on the mouth breathers in the instance who usually don't do anything beyond scaling poo poo up to impossible levels, and the silverwastes is just a horrid zone, karka 2.0 mobs combined with repetitive events and bag farming and more bag farming, I guess if you like that poo poo you're in heaven, but holy poo poo is it boring, topped off with a 5 minute event that fails 90% of the time because GW2 don't do raids but they have no problem with events that require mass coordination in an instance where a 150 people can fit.

Your glasses are rose-tinted. Season One had plenty, and I do mean plenty, of pattycaking trying to get into a good zone, plenty of mouth breathers who did nothing beyond scaling poo poo up to impossible levels, repetitive events involving nothing more than farming, and big finisher events that failed 90% of the time.

I just wish getting the gloves were less annoying. Oh yes let's rely not only on pubbie competence but ALSO hope for RNG chests dropping the gloves (10 chests opened 1 pair of gloves atm). Or you could grind bandit tokens for hours! Wow so fun! So many people are just lying down and accepting this as "good design" that it makes me furious.

What? Making players go through the same LS instances 4+ times was a really loving stupid idea and I'm glad it's gone. They didn't add a better alternative (sPvP reward track and RNG chest lol) but at least we're not fighting the Glint's Lair end boss over and over. And if you think the armor is so stupid, you don't even need to get it! :v:

And I am super sick of all the anti-ranger mechanics in these places, I'd like to play my favorite class as intended, not with my pet downed constantly because Anet doesn't test for dick, such a simple fix to, give them AoE resistance or just make them immune to AoE damage and boom, you fixed like 90% of pet issues.

I really hope an expansion comes out soon, something big, lots of new zones, cool poo poo to explore, maybe elsewhere so they can use a tileset that isn't brown cause this crap just ain't doing it for me. I will happily pay for quality zones instead of getting subpar crap for "free".

I am loving the new zone on my ranger. Longbow is actually a fantastic weapon there. The aoe cripple makes the lunging terragriffs a breeze and the interrupt is great when dealing with leeching thrashers (if there are tentacles coming out of the ground at you, interrupt the nearest leeching thrasher while you strafe around). For pets, I've been using devourers; they have great survivability and back away from enemies while evading underground, so they don't die in vile thrasher poison pools as much as the other pets tend to.

Agreed. I actually enjoyed the Scarlet Hologram fight in the end but gently caress the long-rear end waits and fighting the triple flying buttbots to even get access to that. Even then I'd say the hologram fight still took a bit longer than I would have liked.

I don't think I'm alone in feeling that people don't really wanna spend more than 5-10 min actually doing a single fight, regardless of what mechanics are involved. People want to constantly be moving forward, doing more and getting rewarded for their time. Then again I certainly feel like every reward I get equates to playing the game for about 5 minutes a day total no matter how much time I actually put into it :p

Lots of whining about no one doing events when really there's plenty of people but everyone is too reluctant to even bother chatting on map chat and coordinate.

This is concerning for a player like me who tends to play GW2 in spurts throughout the year. I log in to unlock updates thinking that I will be able to easily participate later especially with megaservers filling zones up with a reasonable number of people. I was playing during dry top's release but I have not touched Silverwastes yet. So I guess what I want to know is whether or not these zones are going to be fun when they stop being the newest thing to do? Is Dry Top pretty empty now?

I understand that people make guilds to coordinate times that get a lot of people together to do a specific thing but my schedule doesn't really work well for scheduled events like that. It is one of many reasons why I quit raiding so long ago. I want to be able to just log in and "play". Now granted, I am okay with some things in the zone not being easily doable 24/7, but I do want to be able to go to a zone a feel like I can participate in most of what is available and do whatever is involved to earn rewards and so forth. Especially during prime time hours.

On the other hand, map chat is often bad and unreliable. I'd like to hear other people's thoughts on this.

No. Unless your megaservered to a fresh zone.

You need to coordinate to get higher than a 3-4, luckily you can buy everything at 3.

The zones with the biggest population issues are in Orr imo, and it's by having too much population. I think the orr temples should be on timers like world bosses so people can actually do the capture event instead of the boring defense. That's just me though, I can see how it's handy to be able to zone in and buy anything whenever you want.

Also: I like Dry Top, too. Just not as much as Silverwastes.

It should be noted that, at least in my experience, I still see easy tier 3 or 4 in "empty" Dry Tops. If events get done, the bar fills up. I'd even tentatively suggest that the bar fill amount from an event scales with the players in the zone. The huge chunks getting filled in during my visit this morning were unlike anything I ever saw when almost every event was getting done at all times every minute. With coordination you can probably still see tier 5 and 6.

My hope is that they circle back to a number of those older escort events and add the "revive X before timer runs out!" states instead of a total failure (or just perma-laying there until someone wanders by) if the NPC you're trying to escort is fragile or likes to stand in red circles.

Gaile Grey is currently discussing the bugged fractals weapon collection with players on the official forums.

The collection has been in since the September Feature Pack implemented them, but it's bugged in a few different ways:

1. It's a hidden collection, which doesn't appear unless you've already completed it.
2. When it does show up, it's listed as a Flame & Frost achievement.
3. The weapons don't indicate that they're collectibles until you already have all nineteen, but
4. The only way to actually open the achievement page is by right-clicking a fractal weapon.

Also, the only reward for completing it is a total of 10 AP.

All in all it's everything one would expect a fractal weapons collection to be. :allears:

WE KNOW THAT YOU CAN HEAR US, EARTH MEN
Totally out of nowhere, here's the SweetFX configuration I've been using for GW2 lately, since I found all the existing presets kind of garish and nauseating, even when they tried not to be. It's a modification of Sweet, Subtle and Sharp, designed to get SMAA, along with a clear, detailed image and better light effects while keeping the coloration faithful to the original and not making the whole thing look like some hosed up HDR drug trip.

Here's some comparison shots. (Open in new tabs so you can switch between them at full resolution.) The sharpening filter is particularly noticeable on surfaces like animal fur which were previously kind of smeared into solid colors. There are details on skin I never knew were there before. Charr and Sylvari will see the biggest differences.

Another effect that really jumps out at you is the way light plays across certain surfaces, particularly reflective points on armor, and on bodies of water. Even without animation, you can kind of see what I mean here.

The sharpening filter slightly degrades the SMAA, but not tremendously. You can get some pretty nice scenes out of it.

If you've never used it before, the SweetFX configurator is here. Point it at the folder with your game .exe via the menu on the left, load the above configuration .txt via the menu on the right, and select Save New Config at the bottom to make it active. Scroll Lock turns SweetFX on and off by default, so you'll know if it's working or not.

If you end up using this preset, or any preset that adds AA, disable AA in the GW2 settings. Also:

SweetFX posted:

After latest patch, the game needs a split install of SweetFX

The files d3d9.dll , dxgi.dll and injector.ini needs to be moved to the bin/ subfolder

So copy those over from the folder you extracted the configurator to. Additionally, can I just say that after typing all this, I really wish they'd called it something other than 'SweetFX'. I mean it looks terrific, but I'm pretty sure this has made me retarded.
