Another trailer.

Reminds me of this mural from Nier

Looks really good, I'm super excited for-

:stare:

This silence is mine...

This is actually the opening movie. They were kind enough to censor the more spoilery parts there at the end!

Anyway, I translated it, albeit by ear:

quote:

Mikhail: Zerooo!
Zero: What?
Mikhail: I need to go take a pee-pee…

Her flower… a song from the land of the dead.
Her sword… a dragon from the land of the living.
The countless endings make not a beginning.

?? (the voice is clearly Peter, who voiced Caim/Angelus in Drakengard and Weiss in Nier): I imagine you'll feel quite secure with a dragon protecting you. Be grateful!
Zero: I'm not sure how secure I'll feel with one like you… Mikhail.

One: Though we came into this world in the same way, and both know the danger it is in… still, we have no choice but to kill each other…?

Zero: You've grown strong, Mikhail…
Mikhail: Zero, you dummy…!

??: This is the story of six sisters who protected the world with the power of their songs.
But one amongst them wished for destruction… the traitor Intoner, Zero.

One: This… is what birthed the Intoners!
Mikhail: Zero, get on me! We'll fight together!
Zero: I… I!
Dito: This is the world of chaos I've always wished for!
Octa: I wished to bed you one more time, Lady Zero!
Decad: This is the greatest of rewards…
Cent: I'm just a fool, after all.
Two: Cent…! CENT…!
Three: Hee hee… not bad.
Four: The world is singing for me… and for you, my sister…
Five: I want to twine together with you so tightly it drives us both mad, Zero!

They also introduced a new downloadable costume for Zero, this one styled after Furiae: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tN0Zg6mJwOc
The dagger she's fighting with? The same one Furiae committed suicide with, apparently! :D

Hehehe...peeing dragon.

They did say that Mikhail is a reincarnation of someone. I kinda like that Peter is the Japanese sorta-mascot for Drakengard.
Nice to see they're carrying on the Nier tradition of spoiling the gently caress out of the intro.

December 19 - Color Variation Costume for Zero (free)
December 26 - Furiae and Nier Costumes
Beginning of 2014 - Manah and Eris Costumes
Afterward - Story DLC Different from the Main Scenario

As long as we're going crazy on the costume train, I'd like some for the Apostles, too. Cent as Urich, Decad as Leonard, Dito as (human) Emil, say.

Apparently there are two versions of the 15-second commercial, a HARD version which is the one we saw with the screaming, and a NORMAL version which can be seen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PHSoMTDpDi4

There's no new footage but you can hear a different verse of This Silence is Mine, which sounds like it's going to be an epic song. Apparently it's almost 10 minutes long!
Fun fact: the creators decided to commission a song from singer Onitsuka Chihiro due to a popular fan video for Drakengard on Nico Video that was set to one of her songs.
Personally, I've been a fan ever since I heard her sing in Breath of Fire: Dragon Quarter.

Ugh, I get the feeling waiting for my Anniversary Box to arrive is going to one of the longest in my life. I want to play nooooow!

So, from a few quick internet searches, I've found a few interesting details that may or may not tie into the plot; after all, they could pull a Neon Genesis Evangelion and have none of this poo poo mean anything whatsoever other than to sound really cool. Izra'il is the Islamic angel of death, and one of the 4 archangels of the Muslim faith, along with Jibril (Gabriel), Israfil (Raphael), and Mikal (Michael). Phanuel is from the Book of Enoch and is supposedly an archangel as well. His name means the Face of God. Galgaliel is the angel that governs the wheel of the sun. Zaphiel is an archangel and chief of the Thrones order of angels. Abdiel is a character from Paradise Lost. He is the angel of faith and denounces Lucifer to God upon hearing his talk of revolt. Armaros is apparently one of the leaders of the fallen angels, or grigori. Armisael is the angel of the womb. Finally, Egrigori sounds like a portmanteau of egregore (a hivemind) and grigori.

Also, holy gently caress that music in the trailer is great. I really want the soundtrack to this game.

In regards to the Angel-themed naming scheme, when listening to the trailer again last night I realized I made a small but important mistake in my transcript/translation. When talking to the character voiced by Peter, Zero says Mikael and not Mikhail (miKAeru vs. miHAeru in Japanese, so you can see how I might make a mistake). It should read like this:

quote:

Mikael (the voice is clearly Peter, who voiced Caim/Angelus in Drakengard and Weiss in Nier): I imagine you'll feel quite secure with a dragon protecting you. Be grateful!
Zero: I'm not sure how secure I'll feel with one like you… Mikael.

Mikael and Mikhail being different spellings of the archangel Michael, of course.

Also, some screenshots courtesy of this tumblr:

Mikhail: Ow! Ow! Zero, you're stabbing me! You're stabbing me! I said, you're stabbing me!

Zero: There's no way I could get along with a virgin.

Zero: Be it woman, child or senior citizen; anyone else who gets in my way, I'm mowing down!

Zero: Die! Die! Die! Die! Die! Die! Die!

Play-asia only lists one thumbnail so I was confused but they have the CE sold out sadly. And no, the U.S. always gets shafted on Collector's/Limited nowadays because at some point everyone thought we were going "all digital" and thus have no need for physical copies of any media. I just wish I knew how much space the game would take up because for some reason my PS3 is missing 50GB (even if I uninstalled what little I have I'd only get back up to 60gb out of 110 which makes no sense) and then I could decide if I just want to wait on a PSN or sink into the physical copy.

Because the U.S. version is coming at some point in 2014 :(

Hold on, let's be honest here. It doesn't have nearly as much to do with the great death of physical media as it does "Drakengard is not a very popular thing" and "printing discs costs money." Selling physical copies only from their web store ensures that they won't accidentally print way more discs than there exists demand for. We should thank our lucky stars we're getting an English version at all because this game is going to sell terribly and they know it.

Take the money you'd spend on a collectors edition and buy a bigger HDD if you need it IMO.

e: we'll know what the filesize is in a couple of days.
