Top panel is lightly edited if you want to be a jerk about the rules and 1 panel must be pure.

Did Chuck Asay actually suggest that having an insurance agent sitting by your bedside saying "let's see what your plan covers" was supposed to be good and comforting? I've personally only ever had one major hospital experience in my memory (knock on wood) and the only thing that could have made it worse at the time was thinking about how/whether it was going to be paid for by an insurance company.

The original comparison was insurance agent or a government representative.

You don't need to state the obvious about that.

I know, but in his other cartoons he does at least attempt to whitewash his "this is what you're in favor of" into something resembling cheer and desirability.

I think my favorite aspect of that cartoon is how even in the "good" panel, with the insurance agent, the old woman looks terrified. Most cartoonists would draw her relaxed, because insurance is good and helps you, but Chuck Asay knows that whatever happens you're probably going to die.

Every entry has been great so far, fantastic stuff from everybody. Here's my own contribution, which is some pretty low hanging fruit so I guess that makes me a qualified political cartoonist!

Well, it gets easier when people forget they're meant to be doing contrast cartoons.
