Also this weeks controversial scene is like the third major "joke" about child rape in the series. Personally I found "He made me feel like a girl" more disturbing than Mr. Jellybean.

A cameo appearance by Crumply Crumplestein as the Jellybean King could have ended much worse. Muuuuuuuch worse. Morty's lucky he walked out of that bathroom with his face still attached.

Someone help me get my bearings

There's been six episodes ('Pilot', 'Lawnmower Dog', 'Anatomy Park', 'M. Night Shaym-Aliens!', 'Meeseeks and Destroy' and 'Rick Potion #9') with another five to go in this series, with new episodes starting March 10. A second series has been confirmed but there's no other details as yet.

Either you're missing the point or I am. Saying that the last episode was boring or whatever is one thing. Maybe it was an unimaginative take on an old story. That's subjective and it'd be silly to say that you're wrong or whatever. Like, everybody's entitled to their opinion. But saying that the episode or the jokes were exactly the same as Amazon Women in the Mood is objectively wrong. On the Internet. And making that assertion just to escape accusations of tumblerism would be extremely silly.

Big Ink posted:

You are correct. The concept goes much further back in TV than Futurama. Likely before Gilligan's Island or even The Twilight Zone, and yet further if you want to include radio broadcasts in the pre-TV days. Not to mention books.

In fact the title of the Futurama episode Amazon Women in the Mood is a reference to an old John Landis movie which was parodying old 1950s scifi movies which often had alien societies split by gender and ruled by women, like Queen of Outer Space.

I love the old prototypes of Rick and Morty, they really highlight the fact that it took Roiland years to develop them as characters (and develop himself as an artist) before they got where they are today.

They remind me of a lot of alt comics that just don't give a gently caress because it is what it is*, but then Rick and Morty has a broader audience that might not be in tune with how loving :unsmigghh: alt comics and less then mainstream stand-up comedy can get; the reactions from these non-alt comic people are precious gold, whether they get into the groove of awfulness or close their browser window and dry-heave.

*(see: Brunetti's 'Diaper Dyke and Captain Boyfuck' strips NWS NWS NWS NMS if the loving name didn't give that away.)

You'll be completely unsurprised to learn that Roiland used to draw alt comics himself (there's a bunch of them on his site) a few which later got turned into animated shorts.

Given all the other crazy promotional things that's been done for this show I wouldn't be overly surprised to find out that the 'leaks' are an elaborate prank played on internet pirates. The leaked version of ep 4 will be almost unwatchable (but you'll all sit through it anyway) and the ep5 leak will be a specially altered episode with a fake ending which is so lovely it totally ruins the show for everyone who pirates it.
