It's actually kind of a very lackluster finish to have the Wily Fortress with only a single boss. Beyond the...everything, I'm just disappointed.

I'm with Simon, that looked positively tame! Especially with all the E-tanks it threw at you, and the one time you fell in a pit, Beat rescued you. I'm not saying you need to suffer for your art, just that you aren't following through on your set-up!

This already feels like Minus Infinity in 16-bit. Eagerly awaiting the promised horseshit. While we're talking about creators of thread-famous fangames, the Lecarde Chronicles developer ended up making a commercial game that's basically Lecarde Chronicles with the Castlevania serial numbers filed off. This is surprisingly lenient design for a romhack. I mean, there's still some pretty bullshit patterns in there that look hard as hell to make it through unscathed, but the punishment for screwing up is typically minor. You didn't die even once!

You didn't die even once! after the first episode I grabbed it because Puresabe does good work, but yeah, Rockman EP is pretty kind to the player - E, W, and S tanks drop like candy, unless you're on 1 HP already, no amount of enemy damage can put you below 1, so picking up even a small weapon energy (which AFAICT always heals you by 1) brings you back from the brink of death The only really bullshit thing I've run into is the final boss and even that's way less bullshit than the original wily capsule. not really sure how you'd reasonably get 999 bolts outside of just running levels over and over to kill the joe near the end 1-200 times though

Yeah, they definitely didn't subscribe to a "less is more" approach to design. Cloud Man's stage was way too long, didn't have any real focus, and didn't even really have a central gimmick. It's arguably made worse by using spring man's gimmick, so you don't even really get a themed area until you have the lightning bolt + water thing, but even then that's rather a lame gimmick and there's not much to it.

It's got some really rough design choices, quite uneven, but this looks to be version 1.0. Also some sort of weird set of fan...OCs? as all characters, which makes it difficult to parse. Avoid "Spike"'s level, which has a cute DBZ theme and terrible enemy placement.

Yeah I played this through myself and Self-Burning is broken as poo poo. As is the Proto Shield that I lucked myself into getting in one of the first stages I visited. Technically it's a very impressive hack, but, yeah, it's kinda horseshit in parts.
