Franks first interaction with his grandson was to pay someone to punch him in the face. Also I was so relieved that the only thing Carl did when he pulled out the knife was cut the dogs leash.

I paused it to read the intro to Lip's paper. It was pretty alright. This season seems to be suffering because a lot of what made Shameless great was the interactions between the family and their friends and now everyone's got their own separate stories and the show's introducing new characters. Last season was so good too. Hard to live up to that.

Get caught as an adult in school not only do you go to jail (or get probation / community service) but you get expelled from school which would suck quite a lot of dick. The thing is, even without drugs, Lip had a lot of rackets on the side that, while were beyond the boarder morally and ethically wrong, weren't going to land him in jail. Such as fooling those kids about the concert and doing others work and what not. It seems that they completely overlook the fact that they've shown us Lip being able to handle these hurdles. So if they want us to believe he's just not making the grade here, it's got to be shown a bit better. Cause what we see is pretty much chump change.

I think the root of Lip's problems is that he can't sleep because his horrible roommate is constantly having sex in their room.

There's a huge element to the Lip issue that this thread is missing: his family. Lip is struggling in school because he lacks motivation due to missing his family. You saw that in his phone call home when things were going badly. He kept asking whether they needed anything and the look on his face when he figured out he wasn't needed was clear sadness. The previews for this week's episode seem to support this theory. I think he'll have a major turn around in like one or two episodes.

Kevin telling Lip to man the gently caress up was so refreshing. I want to see more of that, because it's paying off. Also yeah, Carl is loving nuts. And I'm really disliking Debbie/Fiona this season. Seriously, the both of them are so loving dumb, weird, and awkward to a point where it's annoying.

Yeah, I liked Lip's story finally getting better. But man, Fionna's is getting worse and worse as it progresses.

I thought Debs walking into the Milkovich's denful of angry Russian hookers and innocently going "so...is Mandy home? " was pretty great. Carl's method of breaking Frank's leg was awesome. Mickey's storyline has been equal parts fun and interesting so far, I like that he's getting more screen time. He's such a likable shithead. e: realized I said "pretty great" three times. So many quotes I don't even know where to start... "I don't know what you're saying! Don't worry we'll get a dick in you soon as we can!" Edited because sometimes I forget to type words that go in sentences so you can read them right...

This was a better episode. Kev's reaction to Lip was nice since people were complaining about his story. Glad that Matt wasn't a creep or pedophile or gay just a nice guy that likes Debbie (even though a 20 year old hanging with a 13 year old is probably questionable). Fiona's story is dragging though.

So I have been re-watching from Season One as well as keeping up with this season, and I don't understand how in the first few season time and time again Debbie accepts Frank and later Monica's behavior. I understand she is young as well as the fact that she is supposed to be the kind hearted one out of the Gallagher clan. But it is really a flimsy issue. I just find it hard to believe that no matter how much you love someone or care that you could keep putting up with all that poo poo, though I know even she eventually gets sick of it

I mean Carl still hangs out with Frank constantly.

They become not normal in a lot of ways. Their sense of normal shifts significantly and it can really gently caress people up for life. If they're really lucky it only fucks them up until they leave that environment.

That is fair and I guess I can relate seeing as I spent 10mths in a very physically abusive relation. I constantly came up with excuses in my mind as to why I should stay in it. Though I will openly admit that I don't have experience going through the whole lovely parents thing.

I don't understand why Fiona is getting so much poo poo here. I mean yeah, she's loving things up with her boyfriend by loving the brother but who cares, that affects noone else in the family but herself. It's stupid to date your boss and all but it's clearly the bosses job to not let the two situations get mixed up, not hers. It was ridiculous that he made such a big deal out of her lying about the car as well. A first reaction should maybe have been "I saw someone attacked you, are you ok?" no matter if he was her boss or boyfriend. Either way, she got put in a lovely situation because she was clearly lying to try to save her job (even though she didn't do much if anything wrong in the first place), but it got turned into her lying to her boyfriend too. And after everything she's done for the family, I think she deserves a little bit of success herself, especially when that success comes in the form of working her rear end off to pay for things like food for the kids. It's not like she wasn't working a lot before, she just has nicer clothes and more regular hours now. What I'm saying is Fiona is awesome and I will not have you all badmouthing her. Season 4 Debbie can take a boatride with JimmySteve for all I care though.

I think her awful choice in making her few friends as well as Fiona (and her father, mother, and two older brothers) not being there for her when she is entering adolescence is at fault for that...I don't think she's a bad person now but I agree it really isn't enjoyable to watch. She still seems like the same old Debs when she's around her adult boyfriend for example (compared to how she has been acting around her family/friends) but is obviously just really confused about herself and what she is doing. It is also really dumb that they haven't showed Ian and what he's been doing yet Showtime has made an official loving tumblr page which has explained what he's up to in blog form...even if there is an off-camera reason for that (ie. filming conflict) it's still stupid. I do like how it takes me a few seconds to remember what JimmySteve's real name was. Mariana Horchata fucked around with this message at 23:29 on Feb 4, 2014 |

I just want ONE crazy family breakfast/dinner scene with 90% of the cast present. They used to do that every second episode (if not every episode) and the machine-gun dialog and chaos is my favourite part of the show.

Debs' storyline this year is sort've weird since you really need the full series context (and it would probably even help if it were fresh in your memory) in order for it to really click. I watched enough of the marathon that aired a few weeks before this season started to be reminded of what a sweetheart she is, so she still has a lot of good will built up in my book. But yeah, if you just look at it in the context of this season it looks more like she is being a dumb poo poo head than that she is struggling with growing up, half her family abandoning her, and general naivety. Even so, her scene with Fiona this past episode helped a lot to re-humanize her, hopefully there is more stuff like that in the coming weeks.
