Even so, her scene with Fiona this past episode helped a lot to re-humanize her, hopefully there is more stuff like that in the coming weeks.

I really loved that scene at the end with her crying and Fiona comforting her. I'm also very relieved that she didn't get molested by the pizza delivery guy.

Fiona and Debbie have such a great relationship. I'm really enjoying the new season, even the parts others aren't liking. There was that Mandy/Debbie scene that I found odd, though. Mandy laughing off the whole concept of statutory rape, and Debbie not knowing what it was, seemed weird in light of their actions last season, even if the situations weren't the same.

Why should people hate Debbie's friends, unless you think you should also hate Mandy or the slutbag Fiona used to be.

Her friends/associates are also just young kids who don't know any better. Might as well hate Carl for that matter.

Mandy is a girl who regularly gets molested/raped by her father, yet doesn't leave the house or tell anyone about it (out of desperation, fear or just having nowhere else to go) so "abuse" or "rape" for her means that.

I can't even imagine my favorite characters being portrayed in any other light. I'm very sad that I can't get a fan shirt from the real series but all I found online were fan shirts with the American characters.

This version is so far superior to the UK one that it's quite amazing that it's actually based on that one.

And yet she was revolted by the twenty-something woman having sex with 14-15-year-olds. I know there was the aspect of her having slept with Lip, but the way she called her 'kid fucker' really made it seem like that wasn't all.

Maybe she called the teacher/molester a standard derogatory term in the heat of the moment, especially since that teacher lady seemed really upset by being one and outed again as being one?

I'd have to watch that scene again, but it seemed like there was a lot of her being pissed that someone else was loving 'lip.

It was partly that, but she absolutely said something in the vein of “You think I'm gonna let you off because if what's between your legs, kid-fucker?!" My impression was absolutely that she hates pedophiles in general, and that it went beyond Lip. Might be a subjective thing, though.

Ok, this was the best episode of the season so far. Liam getting into the coke stash was pretty jarring, akin to when Monica slit her wrists; poo poo caught me WAY off guard and everyone's reaction wrecked me. I also really enjoyed Lip's romp through Chicago to find Ian. His actions this episode painted a pretty definitive picture that says, at least to me, that Lip is finally starting to realize he's the only one who can save his family from the poo poo life they've been living. The look on his face as Fiona tried to figure out what was going on at the hospital said it all. It was pretty moving.

Very interested to see where this goes. This season hasn't been the greatest because of the stories all feeling a little stale, but the past two episodes have given those stories a bit of closure or at least a shot in the arm, and it looks like things are gonna be CRAZY again soon.

Also, I liked how Jimmy/Steve's dad had a quick throwaway line about whether Lip and Debbie had heard from his son at all, if only because closure on his plot from last season (ie: is he wearing cement shoes at the bottom of Lake Michigan or not?) is the #1 thing I want out of this season. I just want a concrete ( :v: ) answer!

See, my wife thought this too but to me his expression at the end of the episode was 100% "the second I left the family everything went to utter poo poo". Also he is literally the only adult Gallagher around at the moment so this is just going to completely derail his college chances.

Also I didn't fully buy Fiona and Vi being THAT irresponsible with loving coke around Liam. They have been shown to indulge before but holy poo poo, this puts them in Frank and Monica territory at least and Fiona was never about that. If she had just forgotten to throw away the stash and he ate it thinking it was sugar or something (do Pixie Sticks still exist?) that would be one thing, but this was just too out of character for 3 people who used to be among the more reasonably responsible adults.

Yeah, I didn't like that either. The whole episode up until that point was about Fiona trying to get rid of her crazier impulses and dealing with the fallout from them. It was such a 180 to then be doing coke in the same room as Liam.

Jesus Christ. That was some seriously brutal stuff with Liam. Loved this episode, and the promise of a hosed up, dark rest of the season ahead. It all seemed a little too good to be Shameless. I've said it before, and I'll say it again - 3.5 seasons in and I have no loving clue if Shameless leans more to drama or comedy. It makes me laugh hard and then shanks me in the back, and I love it.

The thing with the coke is a little weird - I imagine they were going to be keeping a close eye on Liam, then they got high and THOUGHT they were keeping a close eye in him, and suddenly, bam. Stupid, stupid mistake, but this is still nowhere near Frank and Monica level. The on;y thing that strikes me as off is that Fiona was confused about why the police were arresting her. Maybe it's just because she was still high?

It was stated in an interview months ago that Jimmy's dead and they simply lost the permit to shoot on the boat before they could film the death scene. That being said, the fact that we never saw it in the show means they could totally change their minds later down the road. I honestly wonder if the multiple mentions of Jimmy are building to something, or if the writers just think the characters never talking about him would be weird and unrealistic.

I need to remember to sandwich this show between some 'real' comedies from now on :smith: I can't handle bad stuff happening to babies and pets. That and it looks like Ian's following his mom's path down the mental health highway.. he may have been on drugs as well, but completely flipping out while in the Military, which was his life's goal, seems like a very Monica thing to do. The last third or so of that episode gave me serious flashbacks to the Thanksgiving episode, right down to finding Liam/Monica in the kitchen.

It looked like the sweat lodge idea didn't work out for Frank either as he was shown to be unresponsive and was going to be transported to the hospital after the cops found him at the end. That was a fantastic episode and I'm glad it finally straightened out the show just before the halfway point in the season. Good observation with the irony of the "No Distractions" sign at the beginning. They better have very good reasons for bringing back Robbie and Debbie's ex-boyfriend if they do because they can just about be written off the show from this point. I hope we get a Fiona in jail subplot.
