Big news tomorrow:

Cyd Zeigler @CydZeigler
An active college football player has never come out publicly as gay. Tomorrow morning, that won't be the case anymore. #gayDE

Just in case the hashtag seemed insensitive, he clarified that the hashtag is so everybody knows what position the player plays. (Last time he did something like this, he got poo poo for hyping it up for what turned out to be a kicker because lolkickers)

Then why is he saying this is the first? Do kickers not count?

Last time he did something like this was for Connor Mertens, who is an active kicker and came out as bi in January, in doing so becoming the first active openly bisexual college football player. The DE coming out in the morning is gay and thus the first openly gay active college football player.

The two teammates, Chris Casher and Ronald Darby, were recently charged with five violations of the university's code of conduct, according to the source, who spoke with Deadspin on condition of anonymity because the university's proceedings were confidential. Winston doesn't currently face any conduct charges.

Both witnessed and reported Winston allegedly raping the woman; Casher videotaped (but deleted the video soon after of) the rape. They're both being charged. Winston will not, but may face a university hearing, where the worst possible scenario is his class attendance and athletic eligibility may be affected. Unbelievable.

Welp

The federal government has opened an investigation of Florida State University's handling of the sexual assault allegation against Heisman Trophy winner Jameis Winston, FOX Sports has learned.

And that investigation will also look back at all sexual assault cases involving Florida State students in the past three years.

The question: Whether school administrators complied with their responsibilities under the federal gender-equity law known as Title IX.
