Michael Corleone posted:Retail Slave, when will position eligibility for players playing new positions this year be added in? As far as I know, it'll be as soon as Yahoo adds them (usually after about 15 games at their new position). However, you'll be able to see right away if a player is eligible for a certain position, as you can search players by position eligibility during the draft. However, OF is all considered one position, so theoretically you could have 3 right fielders and you'd be fine. Some leagues do LF, CF, RF eligibility, but this league isn't one of them.

OK, well I did a mock auction today, and expected new positions for this year aren't in, probably because they haven't played there yet! Also, can anyone play DH, or only real life DH eligibles?

Michael Corleone posted:OK, well I did a mock auction today, and expected new positions for this year aren't in, probably because they haven't played there yet! ^^^Well, in that case it'll probably be a few weeks into the season, then. Yahoo used to make it 15 games before they considered someone eligible at another position. DH, or UTL, can be any offensive player. So you could have, say, 2 elite 1B and if you want to keep both of them, stick one in the 1B slot and the other can be UTL. However, DH's like David Ortiz are only eligible for the UTL position.

I've seen leagues where they treated DH like any other position and had a separate UTIL position that you could put anyone in at, so I'd check just to make sure.

FYI Yahoo is 5 starts or 10 appearances for a position player, not 15. For pitchers its 3 starts or 5 relief appearances. Yahoo is the easiest to get position eligible in. edit: and Ortiz is 1b eligible this year as he had 6 games at 1B (presumably in interleague).

edit: At the moment, someone has taken on both teams, thanks to those who showed interest! So I've got an opening in two long-running keeper leagues I've been running. We've got a deadbeat owner who rarely drafts and never manages his team, and I'm looking to see if I can finally replace him and have a 10 man competitive league for at least one year. I'm okay with rookie owners, as long as you pay up and don't completely abandon your team, you're an improvement over the current owner. It would be most convenient (for me) to have one person take over both teams since a lot of the players in one league are in the other, but at this point, I'll take anyone willing to play at all. If you're interested, just PM me or email me at palleon at gmail.com. The draft dates are still up for debate, if you join soon enough you can have input! Here are the details: League 1: Snake Draft, Head to Head Can keep up to 5 players a year, a total of 3 times in a row (so total of 4 years), round to keep player is average of their previous draft year and the round they are going for the current year in Yahoo. 25$ Buy in, 25$ Reg. Both those teams seem cool and I would join if they were free leagues. Does your setup mean that draft picks and Auction money is meaningless though because very few good players will be available and they will be expensive? I'm a newb and just trying to learn. e; I bet that the limited market in the auction league means that everyone spends like their the Yankees. Does your setup mean that draft picks and Auction money is meaningless though because very few good players will be available and they will be expensive? I'm a newb and just trying to learn. Since you can only keep 5 players in the snake draft league, the very early draft picks are usually worth more as players filter back in (this will be year 11 for this league), then your second and third round picks tend to be for players that would otherwise be 5+, but that's how all keeper leagues are. There's good teams waiting to be drafted, but you definitely have to plan based on who is available. As for the auction league, the worry is always that there will be a lot of scarcity, this will be year 4 for that league, and some years a lot of players get kept, in others, not many do, but typically, people will drastically overpay for the stars, and end up letting them go back into the draft because it's generally unaffordable to keep a lot of players unless you had a steal of a draft the year before.

Looking for some keeper advice here. It's a 12x14 Head-to-head Category league (weird, I know - but a handful of categories are essentially bonus points - SLAM, No Hitter, Perfect Game, etc). Only 8 teams in the league. Can keep THREE of the following players (round): Bryce Harper (22) Matt Carpenter (21) Homer Bailey (23) Jacoby Ellsbury (3) Harper is a lock. So is Carpenter (I think). Do I go with sheer value and keep Bailey, or am I better off keeping Ellsbury early? I'm leaning towards keeping the 3 hitters, but want to make sure I'm not crazy to leave Homer on the table... Also I have the 3rd pick McCutchen likely to be the best player available at that time. If I keep two OF, am I crazy to go after Prince Fielder instead?
