i dont have the thread handy but basically some bitcoiners said "cam girls should take bitcoins because x, y, and z" and then someone who makes their living as a cam girl and runs a successful pay site came in and said "this won't work you're wrong and here's why"

the bitcoiner them told her that she didn't know what she's talking about and spouted the usual talking points. cam girl proceeded to continue to take him to school.

One last piece of shadenfreude I've seen while messing around with cryptocurrency. https://www.cryptsy.com/, another popular exchange site, had a brief bug where you could withdraw coins when you had a balance of 0. Around this same time, people reported shrinking BTC balances and missing coins. Friend advertises a site where people can get new coin together.
Creator of coin shuts him down.
Creator of coin uploads his source code online.
Friend finds source code and downloads before the coin's release.
Friend comes across large stash of coins meant for the creator.

Later:
More people find the source code and begin advertising.
Creator threatens to rewrite the coin to ignore the early "miners".
Creator announces delays almost at the moment the coin was supposed to be released.
Community gets angry and uses the source code to make their own coin.
The new coin is an intentional mockery of the original coin.

So there's plenty reasons why you shouldn't invest in btc but I got really lucky with them

The people who know about bitcoin even fewer hit points in "trust stranger on the internet" skill than we cam girls have.

Try telling an average Joe who is afraid to trust anything other than Paypal that he should pay you with the currency developed by the dark internet and he'll disappear even faster than he does when I say, "I take Payoneer, NiteFlirt, or AdultWork". Try telling a cam girl she should accept the currency that was developed to hide illegal activities and is commonly used by hackers, drug dealers and people who consume illegal porn and you'll get suspicious looks like you're getting now.

Stains two ways
A)If he says he wants to pay in it I know that he's smart enough to figure out how to get services similar to mine without paying for it. Therefore, why is he paying for it?
B)Have you ever been a woman exchanging wads of dollars at a bank on a Sunday afternoon with eyeliner stains on your lids and crumpled hair? Bitcoin is the virtual equivalent of that. Everyone who knows what it is knows who usually uses it and will therefore look at you like you do that. I already get enough poo poo because the general public think the legal adult industry and the illegal adult industry are all the same. I'm not asking for a second helping.

Like I said, I'm wicked paranoid, but those are just my thoughts.

Anyways, besides your poor responses there are plenty of other reputable company's/options for cam-girls to receive money. It's not like we haven't discussed the issue before here, as anyone who actually bothered to do a bit of research before approaching their target audience would find. It's not like we take our work and our money seriously.

Funnily enough, I'd be the perfect target audience for this pitch (if it was actually a pitch to cam chicas instead of a paid PR offering, I mean). The vast majority of my customers are my own, I can and do send them to any payment processor I choose. Why I'd want to waste time explaining bitcoins to multiple customers each day is beyond me. Let's say it takes 15 per customer to explain bitcoins. That's hours of out my day. Every day.

Another point: there's potential security issues with bitcoins, and I don't understand the system enough to understand those issues or how to prevent them. Thus I don't have full confidence in recommending bitcoins to my guys who trust me to not gently caress them over. I've worked hard to gain and maintain a base of customers who respect and trust me enough to use the payment options I recommend. Why would I want to jeopardize that on an as-of-yet unproven payment option?

I'm not even going to bother delving into the stability of the currency or why I'd want to gamble $1000's each month (even assuming I only sent only a small percentage of my guys to bitcoins to minimize risk). Many of us have written all of the above and more here on sw before and if they can't bother to read it and address our concerns then that's on them.

I think the OP's last comment in her last post sums up the situation nicely. We're not approached as professionals here because we're simply a bunch of 'strippers'. Great attitude to have on a sex worker forum. Since we're sex workers there's apparently no need to treat us like business women, and since we're not perceived as busines women why would these people bother to present a professional pitch? I feel kinda naive that I couldn't figure that out until now, the question of why these bitcoin-related people approach us like we're flighty fools who should be dazzled by some shiny new option.

I would never get involved in anything recommended by someone who doesn't respect or understand my business.
