i'm not into mmo's at all but your premise is pretty dumb. just because "older fans" don't like a game doesn't mean anything positive or negative about its quality. "older fans" will complain about absolutely everything and generally suck.

Another MMO trying to challenge WoW, except unlike WoW it doesn't have 10 years of development and additional content behind it so people only poo poo their pants playing the game for three months instead of several years and then get bored of it and abandon it.

Cool TES facts:

The female high-elf in Oblivion sometimes goes "WHOOAAAAAAAAAA!" in this outrageous Bill & Ted way when she gets hit.

That's it, I ain't got nothing else.

Why the gently caress does everyone frame MMOs in terms of challenging WoW now? WoW is terrible. It shouldn't be emulated or challenged, rather MMOs should be designed without any regard for it whatsoever.

I understand it was the most popular MMO, but gently caress it anyways, it sucks and always has.

Basically, if you think WoW is/was good and are hating on TES then I don't care what you say.

ever since 2006 every mmo has been challenging wow

rift straight up marketed itself as a competitor to wow

elder scrolls online, a game whose development started in 2006, had a memo that they kept for 8 years "beat wow"

we've had f2p mmos, story focused mmos (lol) and improved combat mmos and yet a slightly better everquest made in 2004 was the most sucessful

why? because it came first at the right time, simple as that

all that story content didn't matter for poo poo in the starwars mmo because there was no endgame.

wow had the perfect balance of grind and endgame content, and continued that balance for years.

every new mmo has limited endgame, because why make that when none of your players have reached it? however, people get through that content faster than you you create it, meaning you will death spiral. increasing grind will alienate the player base because there is a game with less grind and more content (wow)

Fact: Telling someone you murdered his family in Oblivion will cause a guard to cut him down when he attacks you for it. The guard will then go back to drinking heavily.

i disagree because you can actually do quite a bit 5 days into the game and 2 years in basically means you are piloting a big liability

there are a lot of things about eve that are good, but it's still an mmo therefore bad
