Rev Ebon, Smuggler Scoundrel You work with what you've got. It's worked out so far. Maybe it's luck. Nah, that's crap. Ebon first starting working as a bounty hunter, mostly tracking down smugglers, assassins and terrorists rebels. Seems the rebs took that a bit personally and tried to kill him and his wife, but the empire saved them both. That's when Eben enlisted with them to serve. When his wife caught a serious disease, the empire supplied medicines free of charge. Eben served the empire as part of the military police. Perhaps his methods was unconventional, but he got results. Obligation: Debt Was saved by the empire, along with his wife when they were caught up in the cross-fire of a conflict with the rebels. Now that he enlisted, the empire is also supplying medicine to keep his wife alive. Duty: Political Support The so-called rebellion and "freedom fighters" are only bringing Chaos and suffering. It is better under the control and peace of the Emperor. Deed: Turning in terrorist family He even turned in an Uncle who was plotting with some rebels n a terrorist plot. It wasn't anything major, but it would have been bad. He was surprised to find his Uncle was involved. He liked him, he really did, but as little as he liked sending a family member to prison, his duty to the Empire and the order it brings is stronger than family ties to terrorists. Tiberius "Tibby" Korne - Imperial Navy Acquisitions When the clones were "let go" as it were, they had a large number of ranks available that they needed to be filled. And they filled them with almost every able-bodied human they could grab off of Coruscant, and other worlds. Tibby was one of those, one of the first "real" humans that volunteered for the Navy. But he left for a different reason. Tibby was known as Kell Ghast in the Coruscant underworld, a well known slicer that caused all sorts of trouble when he ran a gang of slicers that caused random havoc with no discernable plan. He was personally a part of the crew that took out the city's power for fun during the end of the Clone Wars at the young age of 16, and the destruction he and his team of slicers caused was responsible for the blackouts on Coruscant that led to the eventual destruction of the Jedi Temple. Once Kell Ghast realized that he would never be safe on Coruscant again for his participation in the Clone Wars, from both sides, he decided he needed to disappear. So he forged a new identity, and joined up with the Imperial Navy. Once he got in, he found a nice little corner in Navy Acquisitions and Procurement, and sliced his way into that position where he's been wheeling and dealing ever since. Now the past has caught up with him, when the ISB agent summoned him, he didn't use his manufactured name. He used his real one... Duty: 5 Resource Acquisition - Tibby has been working in Imperial Logistics and Acquisitions, basically the wing of the Imperial Navy that assigns tech and resources to units and ships. Its a chushy job for someone that wants to stay hidden, but Tibby is more interested in ensuring that no one notices his past, and therefore he does an excellent job of ensuring that ships and units get the resources they need. Mostly by slicing the Imperial Database and forging approvals rather than going through legal channels. Obligation: 10 Criminal - Tibby's background is that of one of Coruscant's best slicers, back in his youth. His gang of slicers wrecked havoc in both Government and Business systems, and eventually he was able to bring most of Coruscant's power grid down during the final battles of the Clone Wars on Coruscant. That bit of slicing has placed a huge black mark on his name by both the Empire and the Separatists, so to avoid that black mark he went into hiding, in the Imperial Navy. Kal Reese Kal Reese was a starfighter pilot in the Imperial Navy for five years, having signed up just before the Rebellion kicked off in earnest. A son of a pod-racing mechanic from Esseles, Kal grew up around machinery designed to go fast, and became obsessed with the idea of space flight as a way of going as fast as it was possible for a human to go! His coolness at high speeds, and quick reflexes, led him to be assigned to the testing cadre of the then-new TIE Interceptor - a role in which he excelled. After the testing phase was completed, he was assigned to a training squadron for new TIE/Int pilots, teaching them the ropes and how best to handle the faster, more aggressive chassis. When his squadron was ambushed by rebel X-wings, he was the sole survivor, earning the title of Ace. His improving reputation earned him a more specialised role within the navy - now he was assigned to Hunter Squadron, a TIE/Int squadron whose objective was to hunt rebel agents, diplomats and troop transports as they were vulnerable travelling between worlds. By now, the adrenaline rush Kal used to feel at high speeds was being replaced by a love of combat instead. This lead to his dismissal from Hunter Squadron after a year or so, when he ignored a direct order to disengage when the rebels laid a trap for them using a phony supply convoy. The squadron suffered 75% losses, and Reese was court-martialled and had his beloved ship taken from him. Leaving his court-martial, he found a strange note waiting for him. Apparently a new team was being formed for... special purposes, and it appeared they needed a pilot with a daring streak who wasn't afraid to get his hands dirty. "Guess I fit the bill", Kal thought...

Voran Tinovorish Much as the Empire is loath to admit it, the rebellion is growing like a parasitic weed. It spreads to places where the light of Empire does not shine, spreading it’s message of anarchy and disorder. Yet it is this anarchy that allows the rebellion to survive. The Empire does not know how to fight the rebels on their turf. They do not present an army for the Imperial war machine to crush into dust or have obvious fixed bases or fleets to attack. The majority of them strike from the shadows, slinking back to places the Empire never bothers to tread. It is not a game hunting down a big game xenos, it is an extended version of killing a colony of vermin. However the Empire is getting better at stomping out the weed. Voran Tinovorich is living proof of that. A member of the Storm Commandos, the newest weapon in the war against the rebellion, he is a hybrid of the brutal efficiency that is the trademark of the Empire with a flexibility in methods that allows him to fight the rebellion on it’s own turf. Voran is a member of the “Force Deployment Section,” the Storm Commandos' own section of assassins. Trained to operate away from Imperial territory with little support, they work to eliminate their targets above all else, individuals that the Empire has deemed too dangerous to live. Here you find the mad bombers, the riot instigators, rebel dogs of war, and other extremely dangerous individuals who threaten the overall peace and stability of the empire. Sometimes it is too easy. A rabble rouser gets too big of a following in an area where a single blaster bolt is more efficient then dispatching a Star Destroyer. Sometimes you have to put a little work in, like a defector who goes to the ground in the Outer Rim after being found out. But then the mission on Commenor came along. It was suppose to be simple enough, liquidate the leader of a terrorist cell responsible for multiple bombings of military and governmental targets. The target was only known as "The Jackel" and was one of the most dangerous terrorists ever faced by the Empire. Voran was part of a team of his most trusted brothers-in-arms. They had all the information, the target's location, the layout of the security systems, even codes to get them into the hab-complex. The night when the raid was to go down, everything went wrong. Guards were more alert. The security system was the toughest thing the splicer had ever seen. Their codes stopped working after then entered and it forced them to take detours. And then the team walked into that courtyard. No cover, no concealment, just a killing field that tore through Voran's team like a vibroknife through bread. Voran managed to escape the deathtrap through creative use of his former comrades' grenades. Racked with disbelief and guilt over what happened, he poured over the planning for the mission for the mistake that doomed his team. But it was not a mistake he found. Buried deep in the com traffic from the hideout were secret messages at military level encryption. Voran could only get partial decryptions. In them he found references to "The Jackal," payment, and thanks for the "advance warning." Voran had been betrayed from within. Someone on the team had sold them out and walked away with blood money from the rebels. Recovering from the mission Voran saw rebel propaganda arise over the next few days on how a cowardly squad of Imperial assassins had been thwarted by one of their great heroes. Checking his messages he found the most unusual orders. A new posting with a new organization that he had never heard of. He poured over the message and his eyes light up. Voran immediately responded. Duty: Counter Intelligence The rebellion infests the galaxy like a weed, growing into every crack and crevice. Every tiny root of this foul infestation must be discovered and burned out, even when it is among those we trust. Deed: Voran has eliminated dozens of problematic individuals for the Empire. His most famous mission was actually when he literally two killed two birds with one stone. The "Patriot's Cry" terrorist cell had been striking at Imperial forces throughout the Brynkua sector, crippling the ability of the Empire to keep order. Meanwhile the secessionist politician Eshka Jastra'ek had brought several planets to the brink of open rebellion, with the Empire slow to respond due to the disruption by the cell. Voran managed to track down both, in the process finding out the Eshka Jastra'ek was the leader of Patriot's Cry. Several clips of blaster ammo later, both problems had been solved. Obligation: Betrayal Voren is obsessed with finding out the identify of the traitor from that fateful night and getting his revenge, even if it mean cutting through half of the rebellion to do it. Senna Jehrand 0 ABY Lieutenant Jenrahd sits in the blandly-decorated reception area of a part of the Complex she's never been to before. She fingers her temporary clearance badge, but her eyes betray no hint of the nervousness she feels. Though she wonders what this is about. Did she make some sort of mistake? A new assignment? An investigation into - but no, that's impossible. She hopes. Her sidearm was surrendered at the security station, but most of her equipment is in the attache case on her lap. She would like to pull out her datapad and catch up on her research - there's a paper on Neimoidean circulatory physiology she's been meaning to read - but she knows she might not hear her next instructions, and that would look bad to someone. So she waits. Patience. 1 BBY - Excerpt, personal addendum to INRB research report #7-07645-L "The Tisner Effect shows some interesting promise, and it is hoped that further investigation into its implications will reveal exciting new discoveries. However, the conditions necessary to induce it are delicate, and the emitter both too fragile and too cumbersome to be used in the field at this time. In addition, I and the rest of the research team wish to express our shock at the revelation that the late Dr. Bilar Gatten's personal effects uncovered rebel sympathies, and our relief that his accidental exposure to the Tisner Emitter prevented his research from falling into the hands of terrorists." 1 BBY - Partially restored audio record, Research Lab 726-F-a, Coruscant, Imperial Naval Research Bureau [Male voice] "-ou've seen what we do here, the kind of research that goes on. You have to know what that will be used for. It's not something I can support any longer. I can't be a part of this. We can leave, together, you and me! We can [unintelligable]" [Female voice, yelling] "No, drat you! You've never understood! I stand for the Empire. I'm proud of what we're accomplishing here, what it will do for the Galaxy! This is a new era, Bilar, and we will lead [static] into a brighter future than they could ever have dreamed! Have you forgotten what the Empire did for me? What my life could have been, if they hadn't saved me? [rustling] No, don't look away! This is why we're doing this, so there can be a day when this doesn't happen to anyone else." [34 seconds unrecoverable] [Male voice] "made up my mind. But please, Senna, please-" [Female voice] "Don't ask me this, Bilar. Stay. Don't ask me to choose. You know what my answer will be." [Male voice] "Then I guess this is goodbye. I love you, Senna." [Sound of blaster, set to stun] [Female voice, barely audible] "I thought I loved you. I was wrong." [Seventeen seconds of silence] [sound of environmental containment locks cycling open] [end of recoverable audio] 9 BBY - Personal writings of Senna Jenrahd, encrypted Nara is gone. She ran away. I let her go. It's the worst mistake I've ever made in my entire life. I understand why she wanted to leave. I know things were hard for her. She's never been as good at school as me, but I've tried to help her. People were nice to me, even growing up in the Creche because they said I had potential. I tried to shield her from the worst of it, but I couldn't always be there. I wanted to, but I just couldn't. But we've always only had each other, ever since we were taken away - rescued - from the market on Veltooine. When the Imperial Army brought order to that hellhole, and brought us to the Creche here on Denon. We're family. And now she's gone, and she hates me because I wanted to stay. Because I stayed. Because I believe in the Empire, and I want to help it rescue all the children out there who need it. Nobody should suffer the things we did, and what we would have if they hadn't come for us. It was the best thing that ever happened to us. Why does she hate the Empire? Why does she want to fight against us? I don't want my sister to be a Rebel. 16 BBY - Excerpt, letter to Jeslaen Cours, Director, Denon Creche Oh, and heads up, Jeslaen, I'm sending you a couple children we found on Veltooine. Human sisters, we figure 12 and 11. They were scheduled to be auctioned by some nasty alien slavers but when we liberated the place we put an end to that little market. They're both slave-marked, tattooed on their upper left arms. No other marks or scars. I guess the bastards wanted to keep them pretty. Makes me sick thinking about it. These kids have had it hard, Jes. They deserve better. Take good care of them. My best to Zeg and the kids. I'll be back next time I get leave. This Rim Pacification campaign can't last forever. Major Lott Cours, Imperial Army Duty (5) Tech Procurement- The Empire is the greatest civilization in Galactic history, and must strive to maintain its technological superiority. The Rebels have been cunning in seeking secrets and advantages in the dark corners of space, and the servants of the Emperor have a duty to beat them to it. Obligation (10) Betrayal - Senna's sister Nara ran away from the orphanage and joined the nascent Rebellion. Senna knew she was leaving, but let her escape anyway. Deed - Senna killed her supervisor/lover to prevent him from joining the Rebellion as well. She thought she had covered her tracks, but ISB found out and considers this proof of loyalty to the Empire. Lemniscate Blue fucked around with this message at 08:46 on Mar 1, 2014 |

I've decided that I will be picking the CO on Monday evening so that any other CO submissions have time to tweak their sheets of they still want to be on the regular team. So far we've only had one CO submission, so that makes that easier, but never know. Further, I'll have the CO player help me in choosing the rest of the team, maybe, or at least take his/her input. Lukan Triege, Lieutenant, Imperial Navy Upon reaching the age of majority, Lukan Triege easily gained admission to the prestigious Corulag Imperial Military Academy. His primary record reflected a studious mind, athletic scores fell within the top 1%, and, most importantly, Lukan’s bioscan came back 100% pure human. Academy instructors expected great things of Lukan, and he did not disappoint. He received high marks in field engineering, game theory, military history, and philosophy. During the Student War, an elaborate training exercise, Lukan ordered his regiment into an obvious frontal assault against the strongest enemy defenses. The imitation troopers suffered 75% casualties, but the sacrifice allowed allied regiments to roll up the enemy’s flank and win the exercise. After graduating with honors, many observers expected Lukan to seek an officer duties within the Imperial Army. His test scores and the Student War displayed the capabilities and belligerence the Army sought in young recruits. The fact that Lukan’s mother was Surface Marshal Ursa Triege, Outer Rim Command, Imperial Army did not hurt matters. “You’re a damned stubborn boy,” was what Ursa Triege told Lukan after he revealed his intention to join the Imperial Fleet. “Just tell me why.” He never did. Instead, Lukan left home, found passage on a supply ship to Anaxes, and applied to the Imperial Navy Academy. He was accepted with surprising speed, spent three months in familiarization training, and then was tasked to the Detainer-class cruiser, Jeref, as a lieutenant, 2nd-class. Life aboard the Jeref was not what Lukan wanted, and he expected he had his mother’s influence to thank for that. The cruiser itself was a barely functional ruin, the captain, Shone, was an idiot, the crew were mostly Rodian, and Lukan was assigned to security with a platoon of Navy troopers at his command. Worst of all, the Jeref was due for decommissioning and the scrap yard. The ship was to finish its six month tour, then set a course for Kuat. Given how slowly paperwork could move through the bureaucracy, Lukan fully expected to waste the next year twiddling his thumbs while Fleet Command decided what to do with fourth-rate personnel. A month before the Jeref would leave for Kuat, Lukan was seriously considering a transfer to the Army. He knew his mother would be happy to push the paperwork through, and anything would be better than working alongside alien filth and lackwits. Then, the whispers began. The first Lukan knew of trouble was when one of his less idiotic troopers brought him a rumor. Supposedly, Varchun Farr, an infamous Rodian agitator, was hidden among the crew. Farr had a reputation for inciting mutiny, and Lukan did not believe Farr would be on an alien crewed ship bound for decommissioning by mistake. Nor did he believe the scoundrel would take a risk like boarding an Imperial Navy warship without a real chance of success. That meant Farr had allies among at least some of the officers, and, most likely, a good portion of the crew - a crew that knew how to operate an interdictor vessel. Direct action was needed, but Lukan had no idea who to trust. Fortunately, Captain Shone’s birthday provided the answer. While the other officers gave half-hearted toasts to Shone’s ‘abilities’, Lukan got roaring drunk. He sang bawdy songs, shouted bad jokes, and got the ill-bred Shone laughing madly by the end of the evening. Lukan finished his display with an angry diatribe decrying the Galactic Empire, Fleet Command, and even the Emperor himself. Shone and the others had not expected that. The officer’s mess was so quiet Lukan thought he could hear his own heartbeat. Then, Shone began to slowly clap, and the other officers joined in. Every. Single. One. Lukan smiled, bowed, and noisily threw up over the side of the table. That got the biggest laugh of all. Making his excuses, Lukan stumbled out of the mess. The instant the door closed he was on his feet and running. An hour before the party he’d injected so many anti-intoxicants into his body he suspected he wouldn’t sleep for a week. He tabbed his comm-unit three times. With the prearranged signal given, Lukan’s command, Imperial Navy Trooper Platoon 3681, sprang into action. Lukan had been training them hard for months, and feeding them a diet of hard proteins, exercise, and Imperial propaganda. Two squads headed for the bridge, and three marched toward the engine room. Lukan reached the bridge before his troopers. The executive officer was on duty, and, coincidentally, talking with a Rodian section chief Lukan didn't recognize. “Varchun Farr, I presume,” Lukan said. The XO’s eyes widened, and the Rodian smirked. That was all the confirmation needed. Lukan calmly drew his blaster pistol and shot the XO between the eyes. Lukan’s loyal squads stormed onto the bridge a moment later. While two troopers sealed the bridge blast doors, the others began killing their way through the bridge crew. “With the bridge crew dead, you won’t be taking the ship anywhere,” Farr said, quite calmly. “Yes, that is accurate,” Lukan agreed. He gave the order, and his men bound Farr to the captain’s chair. “Neither will you.” “Wrong,” Farr replied. “I have the rest of the crew, and the other officers. You’ve taken the bridge, but not for long.” “What makes you think I won’t just kill you?” Lukan asked. “Lieutenant,” Farr said. “If you kill me, the rest of the crew will make sure you don’t live much longer.” “You’re probably right about that, but that’s not why I’m leaving you alive.” Lukan calmly tabbed his blaster to stun. “I know there are people in Fleet Intelligence who would love to speak with you.” “My men control engineering,” Farr said. He jerked his head toward Lukan’s troopers. “You’ve two squads here. You think your other three can take the engine room from a company of Rodian marksmen? Please.” “You’re right,” Lukan said. “Which is why my men are not going to engineering. They’re head to central support. And right about now-.” “Sir, squads Aurek, Besh, and Dorn have reached central support,” a Naval Trooper announced. “Excellent.” Lukan shot Farr in the chest with two stun bolts, then turned to the trooper. “Tell them to seal in, shut down all life support, and vent everything but the bridge. Command authorization Isk-Resh 773-Triege. Now, Sergeant Hork!” “Sir!” Sergeant Hork shouted. Hork stood by the main HoloNet pit. The crewers who had been manning the station were all dead. “Send a distress signal to Fleet Command.” “You bastard,” Farr muttered. “Yes, quite.” Then Lukan shot him again. Three days later the Star Destroyer Amaricore arrived to take Farr into custody and transfer over a skeleton crew. The Jeref made it to Kuat on schedule, and, when it arrived, Lukan found a missive waiting for him from the Imperial Security Bureau. *** Deed Stopped Rebel Varchun Farr and prevented the cruiser, Jeref from falling into Rebellion control. Duty (5) Internal Security - The most dangerous threat to the Empire comes from within its own ranks. Any Imperial trooper or rating or bounty hunter could be an insidious threat waiting to take an action at a critical moment to bring entire campaigns grinding to a halt, wasting lives and time. Lukan’s experience on the Jeref taught him that vigilance against these threats is the truest form of devotion to the Emperor and humanity. Lukan is constantly on guard for any and all signs of betrayal, particularly where aliens are involved. Duty (5): Recruitment - Every engagement with criminals and dissidents is a war of attrition, and that is a war the Empire simply must win. More people must be found to serve, and they are needed in every capacity. Not only does the Imperial Military need more soldiers and pilots; they need more technicians, engineers, mechanics, scientists, doctors, slicers, and just about every other kind of role filled. Lukantius understands the risks of recruitment, as well as the needs, and he is constantly on the lookout for both talented and trustworthy allies. Motivation (Belief: The Empire) The Emperor and the Empire stopped the slaughter of the Clone Wars, brought peace to the galaxy, and overthrew the tyranny of the Jedi fanatics. Those who would end the Empire are short-sighted fools more interested in their own enrichment than the good of humanity. *** New character stats found here. I just want to throw this out there. In my opinion the job of the CO is not really to dictate what everyone does but to help things from stagnating too much and to try and keep the game rolling. It's almost a cheerleader position. Because of this if my character is selected as CO I will likely choose another CO candidate as a second in command and hope they work in the same way to keep the game moving. I think everyone rolling a CO candidate character expects to tweak or radically alter their submission if not selected to be the acting CO, but I don't think having a CO means those skills won't be useful for other characters as well.

Tarrik 'Breach' Voss, CompForce Assault Division When COMPNOR wants something blasted to smithereens, whether they want it quickly and efficiently or as spectacularly and publicly visible as possible, they call Tarrik Voss, combat engineer and all-around wrecking ball. There are two simple reasons for this. One, the man is a wizard with explosives. His medical file, rife with skin grafts and burn treatments, corroborates Voss's incredible enthusiasm for ordnance of all kinds: remote charges, detpacks, grenades, even less conventional weaponry like IEDs and flamethrowers. He knows all the right places to plant a charge if you want a building brought down or a ship hull breached, but if you want to get a little more up close and personal with the Rebels, he can back you up with a dizzying variety of grenades. While not particularly suited for open battlefield combat, his skillset makes him a talented support unit. More on that in the Duty section, if you want some gory details. The second reason, which becomes readily apparent whenever someone makes the mistake of trying to talk to him, is that Voss is drinking the Imperial Kool-Aid by the gallon. There's no mission he won't take, no structure he doesn't think he can find a way to demolish. For several years, ISB's internal affairs department weren't totally sure if he was legitimately that fanatical about the New Order's cause, or just a high-functioning psychopath who really wanted an excuse to blow things up. It'd be hard to argue that the latter isn't necessarily the case, but Voss's obsessive attention to detail when completing his mission parameters eventually led IA to conclude that no, this man was the real deal as far as allegiance went. The Chandrila incident (see the Deed section) only reinforced that conclusion further - as far as Voss is concerned, the New Order is the only order, and everything else is just fuel for the fire. He doesn't speak much, preferring to let his work do all the talking for him, and so far it's said quite a bit. For this reason, Voss's name came up during candidate selection for Section 96 - he's not exactly your typical assassin or spy or whatever, but his utility is unparalleled. Not just in the obvious fields, either; part of the benefits of his training and experience is that he knows all the best places to look if you want to make sure you don't get bombed. Considering people just blew up the Death Star, of all the things, counter-explosive knowledge is as important as the ability to take down a city with a well-placed baradium charge. Not nearly as flashy and impressive, though. Duty (5) Sabotage - Simply painting Breach as 'the guy who grenades your enemies or blows up stuff so you don't have to shoot it' is tremendously underestimating his capabilities. He uses explosives less like a club, bludgeoning everything in the Empire's path until it's gone, and more like a scalpel, achieving objectives with exacting precision. Sure, if you want that Rebel base to telescope inwards on itself, he can do that, but think about the applications. You want a hole punched in the side of a ship with a shaped charge so you can board it mid-flight? He knows where to put the detpack. You want an entire server room shut down without having to run from a fireball? No worries, ion ordnance will take care of the job. You want a thermite bomb vest strapped to the hostage before he's sent out in the field as a decoy? Voss can throw it together in a matter of minutes. Oh, what's that, you just want to get into the reinforced vault and kill the Rebels in it? Give him a second to look at the door and he'll knock down the top 2/3 of it so you can take cover behind the remaining third and shoot them. Plus the knowledge of how to destroy things includes, by nature, the knowledge of how to build or repair them, so when the tech inevitably screws up or the computer goes on the fritz, chances are fairly good he'll have your back in a pinch. Deed - Imperial intelligence discovered that several prominent politicians on Chandrila, emboldened by Mon Mothma's betrayal, had begun holding seditious meetings in hopes of inciting open rebellion (followed by a military coup). Voss was dispatched to eliminate the would-be conspirators 'publicly, in a way that sends a message' at a rally they were holding later in the week in Hanna City. His superiors naively assumed he would simply car-bomb each of them and let the public draw their own conclusions, and were very surprised when the targets made it all the way to their rally. It didn't quite go off without a hitch, though - as Junior Senator (and conspirator-in-chief) Delain Cath was getting to the end of his speech, an incendiary device embedded in his lectern detonated, setting the Senator and everyone within a six-meter radius ablaze. The remaining crowd, including a few surviving conspirators, made a run for their vehicles, at which point a set of detonite charges went off and severed the landing platform from the skyscraper it was mounted on. Almost in slow motion, it slid off the edge of the building, flipped end over end, and gracefully plummeted thirteen stories into the Silver Sea, killing everyone in attendance. There was some initial concern about collateral damage, but this was assuaged by the very thorough suppression of the public's rebellious tendencies (for a time, at least), complemented by Voss's explanation that 'even entertaining seditious rhetoric is grounds for execution' was a pretty decisive message to send. Obligation (10) Score To Settle - The defection of Specialist Kai Hemic from COMPNOR's ranks six months ago was really not that huge a deal as far as the Imperial 'bigger picture' was concerned. One failed operation on a noncritical planet. Not world-shattering, in the scheme of things. Tarrik Voss, however, obsesses over the event for one very big reason: Hemic was his primary handler at the time, and when she defected, the Corellian told the Rebels everything about the mission he was spearheading in that sector. The target-rich environment dried up, and the next thing he knew, COMPNOR was declaring the operation a failure and pulling him out. He would've had it, and she snatched it away from him. As you might imagine, Voss took this very personally. He regularly watches the incoming intelligence reports for mentions of Hemic, and if he ever manages to track her down while on assignment, he's got a whole bandolier of demolition-grade proton grenades with her name on it. Not a CO candidate. Why would you ever want this man leading you? Get out of here.

Lorn Elrad Deed "Ladies and gentlemen, thank you for coming on such short notice. I know that you're on deadline, so my comments will be brief. I won't be taking any questions at this time." A haggard Lorn Elrad sips from a glass of water at his podium as he looks out at the Holonet reporters quieting down. A good crowd today; both the Imperial News Network and a bunch of the planetary and sector reporters. He clears his throat and begins to make his statement. "Ladies and Gentlemen, I have sad news to report. The Imperial Navy has learned that the planet Alderaan, the capital of the Alderaan Sector, has been destroyed. Investigations are still ongoing and likely will be for some time, but from what we have discovered so far, it appears that a terrorist cell associated with the group that calls itself the "Alliance to Restore the Old Republic" stole a new experimental mining laser, reconfigured it, and then, in an act of foolish and suicidal insanity, turned the laser on the core of the planet, causing a seismic event that set up a cascade that ripped the planet apart. The hearts of every member of the Imperial Navy go out to the people of Alderaan. The Grand Moff of Oversector Outer, Grand Moff Tarkin, is pursuing the terrorists responsible, and is confident that he will bring both them and all of those associated with this horrible crime to justice." "Further, due to the increased terrorist threat, by Imperial decree, the Senate has been suspended effective immediately for the duration of the crisis. Senators will retain their titles and legal privileges, but, from this day forward, all laws and regulations will be issued by the Council of Moffs and a special joint committee of the Army and Navy, pursuant to Imperial approval, of course. Constituent services will continue unchanged, and the average Imperial citizen will not be affected, except perhaps by enjoying the benefits that this new governmental structure will bring in terms of efficiency and the ability to better serve the public." "And, thirdly, a little bit of happy news. I'm pleased to announce that the Imperial Navy has completed the relocation of the Malthraxians to their new home, where they will be able to live happily and peacefully. For their safety and protection, New Malthraxia will remain closed to outsiders without authorization, and Malthraxians are restricted to the planet. As a result of this, Malthraxia is now open to human settlement. Anyone interested in emigrating should contact the Imperial Colonization Bureau for further information. Malthraxia is truly a garden world, with abundant minerals and natural resources, a good climate for farming both food and cash crops, and is a good opportunity for anyone wanting a fresh start." "Finally, a reminder to everyone. Be vigilant. If you see something suspicious, if you hear something suspicious, say something. We face a dangerous enemy; fanatics who don't share our values and want to destroy our way of life. Alderaan is a lesson on the price of complacency. So be a patriot and a good citizen. Do your part to keep us safe and we'll do our part to keep you safe. Thank you, and you can get a copy of my statement at the press office" So ended the infamous Alderaan briefing. This was the briefing that brought Lorn Elrad, Information Officer with the Imperial Navy and Imperial Propagandist, to the attention of the ISB and Moff Breslin. But it was not Lorn Elrad's only service to the Empire. There was another item in his folder that came to Moff Breslin's attention. An incident from two years earlier. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ The Bestine Shipyards were a buzz of activity, and had been since they had come on line a year ago. In all the bustle, no one noticed the small shuttle that docked at the refinery. That was just how Rebel Commando Tak Ondero liked it. Ok. Listen up, team!, he addressed his small unit. We all know how important this is. Bestine is the biggest Imperial Shipyard in the sector. If we destroy it or damage it, we cripple their capital ship production all along the Inner Rim. Schematics for the yards show that this refinery is the key to destroying the construction facilities, and we've managed to pinpoint the one location in the refinery that will bring it down. Duty shift schedules show that we've got half an hour to get there, plant the charges and get out undetected. So lets' move! As the rest of his team suited up, Tak looked at them, remembering the adventures they had shared. They weren't just a unit, they were friends, he thought, as his eyes passed over them. There was 'Twitch', their demolitions specialist. From a prominent political family that had dared to speak out against the Empire's atrocities, Twitch had managed to flee from the purge that brought his family down. Then there was Drydryllkazza, their Wookie heavy weapons specialist. An escaped slave, he fought to free his people. There were Dex and Jala, husband and wife, who were fighting for a better world for their children, and Madac Thorn, former stormtrooper, who got sickened by the things he had seen and done and had joined the Rebellion in an attempt to find redemption. Then there was Tak himself. He didn't know why he had joined. The excitement, probably, and the need to get off the farm he had been stuck on for his entire life. The team made their way through the facility to the control room. It was there that the schematics said that they should plant their explosives for maximum effect. They didn't face any opposition along the way. The duty roster was correct, and, with the intelligence that was provided, they were able to avoid any patrols. Finally reaching the control room, they burst through the door. Much to Tak's surprise, it was no control room at all, but a conference room. A thin man in a navy uniform sat on the far side. Madac raised his blaster, but stopped as force fields came down around them. They were trapped! The man rose and walked over to them as guards came rushing into the room from all directions. Ah, right on time. I admire your punctuality, the gaunt faced man said. I am Lieutenant Lorn Elrad of the Imperial Navy, and you are my prisoners. I wouldn't normally have come, but when I heard that the Bestine Shipyards would be visited by the famous Black Sheep Squadron, led by Tak Onderon himself, I had to see for myself." The officer smiles coldly and cruelly. My apologies. I see you are confused by the situation. Let me explain. It came to the information of Imperial Intelligence that there was a mole within the Navy who was getting information to your 'rebellion'. There were, of course, many, both within Imperial Intelligence and the Navy, who wanted to see him arrested immediately, but I was able to convince my superiors that even his betrayal could serve the Empire. We therefore made sure he had access to incorrect information. . .information that we had designed deliberately to spur you rebels into coming out of hiding. Even as we speak, Imperial Intelligence is raiding rebel cells and arresting rebel operatives throughout the galaxy; operatives we were able to flush out thanks to the mole's work. He leans in, his face close to the force field, close to Tak's head. Did you really think that there was a single point in this refinery that would let you destroy the shipyard? What sort of idiots would we have to be to build a facility with a single weak point that would destroy the entire facility? And if we did, how idiotic would we have to be to leave it unprotected? Bestine will not fall today. It will never fall. I hope you enjoy your interrogation, Mr. Onderon. If you want my advice, tell us what you know. You will eventually anyway, and why make life more difficult for yourself? Take them away!, the Imperial officer commands the station's guards, and the last thing Tak sees before he's led away is the sneer of the supercilious Imperial. As the rebel scum was led away, Lorn couldn't help but smile. The Empire had done good work here today keeping the Empire safe. He briefly considers staying to watch the interrogations, but it can get messy, and there are people for that. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Duty: Political Support The Empire does not hold onto its power due merely to its army of Stormtroopers or its Star Fleet. The Empire survives because it serves the people, and the people know that. It is important to the Empire that the people know that; that they know that the Empire serves them. However, facts can be difficult things for the masses to understand. Sometimes there are facts that, to the ignorant or malicious, seem to paint the Empire in a bad light. It is important, in that case, to educate the masses; to teach them how to look at the facts correctly so that they understand the deeper truth. Duty: Counter Intelligence Information is power, and he who controls the flow of information is a powerful person indeed. Behind every rebel strike, behind every rebel atrocity is information in the wrong hands. Tracking down leaks and plugging them; making sure the rebels get no information, or better, false information guarantees that they will be unsuccessful in their futile attempts to bring down the government.

Aeiva Tching, Princess of Atrisia, Margravine of Kaltai A thousand years ago, Atrisian emperors had entire sectors bowing before their might. Their words were law; their favoured family members accorded places of honour and responsibility in the highest echelons of the empire. But that was long before the petty nobles in parliament slowly began to usurp power away from their rightful rulers. Before power-hungry commoners eroded the barriers to excessive advancement and wreaked havoc upon Atrisia with their selfish, narrow-minded policies. Now what was left? A hollow shell of an empire, dwarfed by the true empire, the Galactic Empire, to which it was an “ally” – in reality, more like a vassal or tributary. And worse, the royal family had been reduced to a pathetic caricature of its former self. The emperor ground down into a figurehead, struggling to exercise what few powers remained to him, while his children and grandchildren received little more than ceremonial titles and lives of relative comfort. Anything else they had to “earn”, as if their inherent superiority were not self-evident to the idiotic politicians who now held the reigns of the empire their betters had built. As one of the reigning emperor's grandchildren, Aeiva had been born into that position. She had done her part to fight back against it, however. She had enrolled herself in the Royal Naval Academy of Atrisia as soon as possible and – despite the nearly intolerable indignity of having to compete against commoners – successfully demonstrated her superiority by finishing first in her class. Sadly, many of her family members were not so motivated. Some of them preferred to accept the pacifying bargain offered by the parliamentary usurpers, growing fat and indolent while their birthright was stolen out from under them. That was one of the reasons she had been so pleased to accept the position of military attaché to Atrisia's ambassador to the Imperial Senate: the ambassador was none other than her uncle Iaag, one of the more accomplished members of her family. Another reason was that it was much easier to admire the Galactic Empire than the Atrisian one these days. There was no greater force for peace and justice in the galaxy – in many ways it was the true successor to the old Atrisian Empire, writ large across a thousand times as many worlds. That is not to say that it was without its flaws, of course – the unfortunate allowances made for the advancement of commoners in many positions foremost among them – but it was certainly a superior model to that of her decaying homeland at the moment. Aeiva's first months in Coruscant had been a refreshing change of pace, allowing her to meet like-minded nobles from across the galaxy. Her enjoyment had been cut short, however, by a disturbing revelation on the part of her uncle – that he, along with several other members of the Atrisian Embassy, were members of a network of rebel sympathizers that permeated the senate itself. How Iaag had managed to misjudge Aeiva so badly she could not fathom, but for some reason or another he had assumed that a few tales of Imperial “atrocities” would be enough to convince her to consort with anarchist terrorists. Aeiva had been horrified, but initially went along with her uncle's requests. Little was asked of her, and it became clear that she had been brought into the conspiracy mainly because it had become difficult to keep her in the dark. She used this to her advantage, steadily gathering evidence of rebel activities under the nose of Iaag. When she turned the information over to Imperial authorities, however, she was careful to ensure that none of the evidence incriminated her uncle. Traitor though he may have been, he was still family, and Aeiva could not bear the humiliation it would cause her family and her empire to have a member of their royal family – and their ambassador at that – incriminated in terrorist activities. More than a dozen rebel operatives – half of them employees of the Atrisian embassy – were eventually arrested, but Aeiva's selection of evidence and testimony kept her uncle safe. Even so, the revelations were humiliating for Iaag, who appeared to have been unaware while terrorists conspired in his own embassy. And his outrage at Aeiva was obvious, even if he could only express it in private. That had hurt, considering how much effort she had gone through to protect him from his own poor judgement, but she consoled herself with the knowledge that she had done the right thing. The Senate had been dissolved only a few weeks later, after which Iaag returned to Atrisia in protest. This had left Aeiva out of a job for the moment, reluctant as she was to leave Coruscant so soon. As luck would have it, however, she was soon approached with a very interesting new opportunity with the ISB. ______________________________ Deed: Aeiva exposed a network of rebel sympathizers on Coruscant, including several members of her own embassy and employees of multiple senatorial offices. Obligation: Despite her loyalty to the Empire, Aeiva is still more loyal to the Atrisian Empire, or at least its royal family, as demonstrated by the fact that she protected her uncle from suspicion even while exposing the network he was a part of. She recognizes that this sort of dual loyalty is dangerous, especially if she will be serving with the ISB, and has taken pains to keep it hidden. Your Commanding Officer will be Anders Olaffsen, played by Jaynen Over the next few days Moff Breslin will consult with Lt Malek and Lt Olaffsen and will finalize the final roster for Section 96. Those of you who had Commanding Officer apps, you've got time to tweak/edit/totally change your submission, if you want. I will still give everyone an equal shake and the fact that you made a CO character won't penalize you in any way for the final consideration. Good luck!

Just thought I'd add some info to clarify, since at least one person has a made up Duty, though I know what he was aiming for. The outline in AoR is pretty much right for what Duty means in terms of what you've accomplished, but in play your Duty will be a form of currency with which to accomplish extra poo poo. Bear in mind you may need high ratings in one or more thing to get what you want done, or else you may have to default on other forms of Duty (at a higher cost) to sort of strongarm your way through. This is what the Strong and Weak stuff means, a Weak Duty would need a much higher rating or be something you default to rather than being a main one. Here's the sort of stuff it could be used for:
Bear in mind, there are more applications for each Duty, these are purely examples, and there's always wiggle room.

Sorry to all that didn't make it. I personally like feedback, so in this post I will outline all the other submissions, and why they were not chosen, just so you have an idea of the process and what was being looked for. Jaren Telsh - I really liked this character, but Lorn was just way more entertaining and had such a great Deed that it was an instant hook. This guy almost made it in, though. Digg Findal - I liked this guy's Obligation and the story was pretty good, but ultimately there just wasn't enough room on the team. Plus kingtheninja is in a bunch of other games. Rev Ebon - This one had a pretty blase backstory with a kinda dull Obligation since it wasn't really much of a liability. Kal Reese - This guy was really interesting, and I was really sad to not be able to take him since ForeverBWFC is a newbie and he was really eager, but in the end while his backstory was pretty interesting, he was a little too niche for this campaign... I kinda hinted at that in the OP edits, but ah well. Voran Tinovorish - This guy's backstory would have been great except he's not a loyal Imperial soldier, he's still a freelancer. There is just no way the Moff would have pulled him into a group as clandestine as Section 96. He's an outsider. Aeiva Tching - This character has a cool backstory, and worked much better as a non-CO. Ultimately, the main reason this character got cut was because another player was a newbie EotE/AoR player and had a similar character to serve as XO, so sadly she didn't make it in. Hope that clarifies the process and makes people feel less butthurt. In terms of the CO, the main criteria I was looking for was for them to either have a really compelling Deed with a matching Duty (aka a Duty of 10) or to have some sort of horrible Obligation that could be an extreme liability to the entire group, but could theoretically be overcome if they put in the effort. Jaynen's guy was the latter.
