So my eyes got caught on Brynhildr, mainly because I read the manga for a while, even though I hated Elfen Lied.

Only thing I could think about it was "I didn't hate it". Now the manga was chuck full of fanservice and inbetween brutal, bloody battles we got slice-of life episodes, but the worst is the main character who is the only one without superpowers but he is basically a genius with photographic memory and everything. Of course, he is the only positive male character in the show so go figure.

Still I stopped following the manga for a while, since I couldn't be bothered and I'm afraid something horrible will happen later on just for shock value.

In short, if you liked Elfen Lied for some reason, you will love this.

So I'm not sure if this has been brought up yet or not but there seems to be a new LOGH anime in the works and I have no idea how to feel about it since on one hand more LOGH sounds great but then again there's always that chance that it'll be terrible.

So wait, these couple feature length films and the 110 episode long OVA series I'm currently working myself through, DOESN'T cover up the whole story and there's still room for more?

Takeshi "Redline" Koike is directing a feature-film follow-up to Lupin III: The Woman Called Fujiko Mine, called "Lupin III: Daisuke Jigen's Gravestone," which will open in "early summer" and "depict how Lupin and Jigen became partners."

TWCFM was one of my favorite shows of the last decade, and Koike is basically infallible as far as I'm concerned, so.

Sick. I was sad to see that after the show they continued the trend of the really mediocre Lupin specials which, while not a bad watch by any means, are rarely memorable. Glad to see we're getting something worthwhile again.

Should be fine. The current arc has felt like an endgame for a good dozen chapters and pretty much anything that could be possibly viewed as a hanging thread has been resolved.

I actually sort of wish I still had the original Dark Horse books from the late 90s (I think I wound up giving them away when DH went back and re-released them). Sure there were missing chapters and they were unflipped, but it was a part of history or something.

Man Afternoon went from having AMG, Blade of the Immortal, Mushishi, Genshiken 1, YKK, and Blame all in the same magazine at one point of time to...uh, I guess Genshiken 2?

E: The Berlin wall was still up when AMG started its serialization.

If Trigger turns it up a notch and makes it even more over-the-top it has a chance of being good. The guy with the power of DARKNESS:black101: going full Light Yagami (in that Onani Master Kurosawa parody style) could be fun.

Not sure why you're bringing up Guilty Crown as an object of comparison, since they're nothing alike.

Anyway, I read the first of the novels last year, and wrote down my thoughts, so I may as well spam them here for your ridicule.

My light novel impressions posted:

Finished reading Saenai Heroine no Sodatekata vol 1 by Maruto Fumiaki. After all the doomy gloom books, I wanted something more cheerful, and a silly romcom seemed just the ticket.

I didn't know it until I hit the afterword, but this is Maruto's first novel. Instead he's pretty famous as a scenario writer for "erotic games", and I guess someone decided to try to aim those powers of imaginative production at a younger audience. In any case, it explains why the novel starts out with a tedious parade of nerd jokes, mostly focusing on visual novels in the harem genre.

Our protagonist is a nerd's nerd, renowned at school for his passion for all things otaku. He has a part-time job to fund limited edition blu-ray boxes, stands in line to get the latest games, and of course writes a blog about his favourite light novels. One day he has a chance encounter with a pretty girl in a white dress, whose wind-caught beret he helps recover, and while he was too dazzled by the perfection of the moment to remember her face, he's certain it must be destiny. A month later he finally realizes the fated girl is his completely inconspicuous classmate. So shocked is he by her lack of any characteristic traits found in a harem heroine that he decides to make her into one. A proper, full-fledged harem main heroine that any nerd would sperg about!

So yeah. The book is almost as bad as it sounds. Strangely, the conversations start to seem charming at some point, and by the end I had to concede that this is one of the better examples of super-nerdy hyper-dialogue based light novels I've come across. With the caveat that I pretty much hated the others. I don't know if it's the author's background in eroge, but he barely has any descriptive passages at all. Almost every scene is handled as dialogue or internal monologue. Someone kicking the guy in the face is inferred by the way the characters go "Ow, why'd you kick me in the face?!" sort of thing. Not much of a literary masterpiece, but it works as entertainment.

While I'm not going to bother with the rest of this series, it has at least made me curious enough to take a look at the fall anime White Album 2, which is based on the game Maruto wrote. I just hope it has as little to do with the predecessor as Final Fantasy games.

Can't really disagree with that, but Noitamina's reputation has been getting pretty diluted in the past few years. And it's just so harsh to compare anything to Guilty Crown. I mean, it's Guilty Crown.
