Nothing like diving in from a very short distance above a bomber, riddling him with your over-wing guns, and then realizing that your control surfaces just tore themselves off because you went faster than 200kmh :black101:

More than anything right now I want to figure out how to adjust your view orientation in the gunner view.

Half the time the sights end up in a random corner of the screen and are barely usable, and the normal view controls don't seem to do anything.

Shine posted:

"T" to man the turret, and shift-T (or maybe it's control-T) to align the gunsights to your view.

That's the thing, it wouldn't align to the center of my view, rather to some corner of the screen. Occasionally the view axis for the gunners might be at some sort of skewed angle, too.

That said that might've been my game being weird. I've been trying to get screenshots and I can't seem to get it to happen again.

edit: and is it just me or is there a pig in the main menu ambient sound?

So in regards to the Indiegala thing, seems like it might be a good idea to just wait until that last gift is revealed before spending money on one of the DLCs?

Not having most of the British lineup is a little bit annoying as far as trying to fly an early-war career goes, especially since furious wings gives you access to almost all of the French planes, and a varied assortment of German ones.

The Nieuport and Halberstadt come with Furious Wings, Birth of Warbirds gets you the Roland C. II and R.E.8.

The Albatross II has an overwing 20mm :stare:

It works about as poorly as you would think but it made for an amusing minute or two trying to shoot down a Type O.

God, I'm just having this one cursed escort mission that I just can't get through.

We take off, get close to the front and then a DFW C. enters the picture.

No matter how hard I try I can't get through that encounter without some sort of catastrophic damage.

At best the gunner manages to ruin my engine, occasionally from a ridiculous distance away.

Or I shoot him down and get a chunk of wing for my troubles if I wasn't already crippled.

Or just this last one where my squadron managed to get into a three-camel pileup like a group of WT pubbies.

Maneuvering is so silky smooth compared to everything else, too.

Playing around with PWCG, I'm wondering what's up with the 10x rate of fire on the flak is all about?

I feel like I'd be more forgiving of the base career mode's faults if the timeline moved faster.

You're flying at least a mission a day, which just makes for a glacial pace if you're waiting on stuff like aerodrome transfers or equipment upgrades or whatever change in the status-quo.

Basically, there's a F2P version, which comes with the western front map, and I think the Spad XIII and Albatross D.Va and their upgrades, and then the paid Iron Cross edition, which expands the roster with a bunch of planes. Other than the selection of planes, all of the functionality is the same. The developers have a store tied into their account system, on which they sell you various planes piecemeal for about $5-$12 a pop, plus their upgrade kits for about $2-$5.

The Steam version is the Channel Battles Edition for $50, which comes with all of the above, plus the channel map, but none of the plane upgrades for some reason. The DLC scheme for that is a bunch of planes and their upgrades get bundled and sold as $25 packs. As far as this goes, unless you have a specific favorite plane you're going for, I believe that Furious Wings (which was in the indiegala thing) and Bloody April are the suggested purchases if you just want to flesh out the plane rosters, but gets expensive.
