To Mimsy:<"In days of old I crushed many who came against nature's bounty. Villages, towns, once an entire kingdom. I've fought some of the others of course. In times past even the Troll Father and I got along, he didn't used to be quite so fatherly then."> She blinks away what could be the rocky equivalent of a blush. <"But yes I've fought for nature, fiercely. I've exhausted most of my power over time. But a god like you could empower me. I wouldn't take it. That would be impolite. In exchange for helping me, I could help you. Gods aren't always exactly completely devoted to their domains. In any case if you want to really advance nature's cause you'd free Kwll from his torment. It wasn't his fault what they did to him. He was only protecting his brother...">

She's offering tentatively to help you out. You'd give her something then she does something for you.

Mimsy - The Earth Warden - Mindscape

"I could allocate power to you in the coming year. The worst offenders against nature have been cowed or converted, the other gods are aware of my dislike of the plundering of Nature. There may be conflict yet, but there also might be peace and time for Nature to be allowed to flourish." Mimsy seemed guarded when the conversation turned to Kwll, "What can you tell me of this being? I was aware of it but would like to know more of his tale."

The Earth Warden - Mindscape

To Mimsy:<"Kwll once dwelt roaming this world with his brother Braum. Braum titanic in size and often quarreled with Kwll. Kwll loved the land and Braum the sea. Once one of their arguments ended in battle between them. Kwll stuck one of his brother's eyes from his head and Braum cut off Kwll's right hand. An island society now long dead stole Braum's eye and took Kwll's hand. Braum was not bright and the sorcerer kings of the island quickly tricked him, promising to give him his eye back in return for letting them have some of his power.

Kwll told him not to trust them but Braum dearly wanted it back. Kwll rejected the offer and left Braum, vowing to get back his hand. Soon over hundreds of years Braum found himself growing weaker and ever weaker, until the sorcerer kings killed him. The night of the ritual Kwll rose from the sea to try and stop it. He was too late. The sorcerer kings attacked Kwll with their power and Braum's combined.

In Braum's death and with part of his being used against him in the ritual, Kwll was wounded again and again. However the sorcerer kings couldn't take Kwll's powers without his consent.

And so, binding him under the waves and denying him the sight of land he so loved, the sorcerer kings tortured him every year in every way imaginable. They cast permanent spells of torment upon him using divine power stolen from its rightful owner. Kwll soon went mad with hate and anger. The sorcerer king nation soon faded from memory and there he remained under the waves.">

She blinked tears away.

<"Kwll is a force of nature, of unmaking now. His powers when he was whole were almost unstoppable and are now a shadow of what he once was.">

Mimsy - Speaking to Kwll

“Rise, brother. I am Mimsy, I am sorry for what the sorcerers did to Braum. I am a friend to the Earth Warden, and am here to tell you that the chains that bind you have weakened, it is only habit that now keeps you here. I give you your freedom. All I ask is that, at some point in the future, if I ask you to turn your wrath away from some target, you do so.”

Screw it, lets do this.

Mimsy - Speaking to Earth Warden

“For good or ill, I have awoken Kwll. Beyond destruction of his being, do you know of another way to redeem him and restore the...man, I suppose, he used to be?”

Ignatz the Douter - At Mount Green, to Mimsy

"Treebrother," the mountain wind that is Unnamed whispers to Mimsy, Lord of the Wood, "I question the wisdom of this. With all respect to the Warden, who has in word proven respectful of our wishes, would it not be best if the sleepers be left as they are?" The forest bows to the sighing wind. "But it is too late now, is it not? Such a thing as Kwyll, for a thing it would be after so long in captivity, a prisoner of nightmares, will be a danger to us all. Betrayed, beaten, and tortured for untold eons, does it still possess a mind? If it does brother, offer it my benison. It should know that among us one is willing to ease its burdens. To allow it to forget."

Cipher

"Such activity! The world grows full... maybe overfull. What will come of so many little godlings arising at once?" Cipher's empty eyes seem wistful. "A day may come when we regret dragging all that is old and dark up into the light." She gazes at her cowering brother. "I wonder: when that day comes, will Ignatz be laughing or crying?"

Am I aware of the (former) location of the sorcerer kingdom that killed Braum and took Kwll's hand? If not, I'm going to set about trying to discover it. Those sound like some interesting ruins.

Amrom - The High Seas
Atmosphere: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Y1Zqr4-LuE

I can't beat this story, but you get the picture.

Bone, metal, and stranger materials from beneath the waves combine with all five hulls to produce one grand ship, The Emperor of Night, featuring an astounding combination of magical and industrial technology, with the capacity to sustain itself at sea indefinitely. Secrets of necromancy and technology are carved upon the walls in a strange script, providing great knowledge for the brave and motivated. The beings aboard are revived as undead loyal to Amrom, with knowledge of secrets of industry, sorcery, and undeath from their time in the darkness. As a side effect, they can see perfectly in pitch blackness, and they can use Sorcery to turn their gaze into a weapon. However, they are loyal to the ship, and primarily seek to bring it around the world to spread the knowledge, power, and glory held within; They are capable of running the ship and will not typically go anywhere they are not wanted unless given a sign, but will defend themselves if attacked.

The Emperor of Night is a massive ship holding hundreds of the dead. It has 8 Life and 8 Attack.

(If you forget a name, there are two maps: one with the countries overlay and one with just the city names. I also have them listed and painstakingly hand crafted a list of towns and places at the end of the map post in the OP. :siren: I'm going to come down hard on each and everyone of you after this, you're all going to lose points or actions will go horribly wrong, I'm leaning towards epic levels of bad.:siren: The more stuff I have to look up, the longer these updates will take.)
Music: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JRt-dieB3rs

The Fort commander received the offer via spirits and his men were spooked. Relatives and former retired comrades made them doubt their dedication to their nation. "We must submit to the Dark Lord, pass the word. Should any from the kingdom come, kill them. Prevent them from knowing where are true loyalties lie as long as possible.

The Dark Lord now has possession of Fort Neem. Long live the Dark Lord and his Dark Master

Music: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qyG_mnBS6zg

The dwarves laughed and sang, beer and ale being drunk with wild abandon. Dwarven lasses and men danced and sang together. The king and his advisors even got into the revelry. It was infectious, ambassadors, businessmen from far off lands were soon drawn into it. All from the smell of the enchanted pork of some escaped pigs. Food and drink was had by all in an orgy of drunken decadence. This however differed from what happened below...

The stones whispered to them. "Come find me." The blackened deep called to them. "Delve into my secrets." The entity beyond the stone cackled madly.

And so the dwarves began to dig, making more progress than ever before. The foremen forsook any safety precautions and the workers worked with a fever none had known before. It may take them weeks to find the treasure they were looking for. With the endless party going on above and the digging down below, there was nothing to stop them from finding the mysteries below.

Maen - The Sea

Music: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NFN0GLAMJ3k

The message was garbled, the direct communication lost. "Greetings singers of underwater songs. I am Maen. I am a goddess from far above, yet your songs have lured me down here. I wish for your beautiful songs to be heard by those above, if they come down here. Let me teach you, singers."
"And know I will safeguard your beautiful song. Those surfacers who hunt you, will feel my anger. But I hope that you will be kind to those who travel your waves in peace."

:smugwizard: Seriously, we discussed in IRC that direct communication was out. I said you could play a song for them to get them to generally act the way you want. Now it looks like I would be giving you favoritism for something I told others they could not do. I'm going to fix this the way it should have went but next time I'm just going to let insanity to take root.

Maen: The song of Maen made the sea mammals curious. Its tunes and tones echoing through the waves in different patterns of thought and meaning. While no direct words were communicated or spoken, feelings were evoked among the intelligent listeners.(or something like this)

Commie's part: The mammals heard Maen's song and soon felt a kinship with surface creatures rather than fear or curiosity. Those who did not hunt and fish for them if found bereft in the waves soon were guided to shores or other vessels. Those mammals that heard the message could feel love and protection emanating from the source. They felt loved, they felt trust, and they soon felt safe.

Soon changes came over those that heard the goddess' message of love. They could form the language and communicate with any land dwellers in the water.

Nearly 1/5 of the ocean dwelling mammals have learned this.

Winner: Platonis

Mood: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qy-Y3HJNU_s---"We'll DO IT LIVE!"

Bil O'Rlyeh suddenly found himself to be gifted with wondrous powers however, his ability to communicate with the masses in their sleep was sorely lacking. In fact he found he couldn't dream at all anymore! "Just what' the deal with this! Have the liberal necromancer agenda yet again committed an act of terrorism against me? Amrom's and Bearded sorcerers here to take the children of our free nation and the jobs with their dead unionized workers. Unions which march towards socialism and have destroyed the working class of the Confederacy?!"

He spoke to a small group of eager listeners but didn't quite catch on as big as he would have liked.

Platonis wins in bidding war so no Noose Network. You also made your man incorrectly. You make him with influence only.
When making an empowered NPC and you're using influence for every 1 point you spend the target gets 1 Life and 1 Attack.
Divinity and Power aren't for non-gods. Unless you players want NPCs being able to cock block you.

Kwll's eyes stared milky white, the orbs rolling wildly. "Brauuuuuuuuuummmmmmmmm!" The chains shattered.

"CRUSH!"

"DEVOUR!"

"KILL!"

"REVENGE!!!"

A wave surged forward, displaced by the titanic being known of Kwll. One hand ending in a stump, the other in six fingers. It stabbed outward and three beams of light destroyed an island. Presumably the former home of the small island nation of sorcerer kings from the past. Burning fever showed in Kwll's eyes and he disappeared in a mist.

Mimsy skimmed the minds of her Elven Elders, searching for any Lore they retained of the Titan Brothers Kwll and Braum. Particularly of the whereabouts of Kwlls hand and Braum's eye.

Seeing if the Elves know where they are at, failing that...

No clues here.

The eye shined under Mimsy's regard. From what she could tell it gave the viewer access into seeing another dimension. It was populated with frozen figures all holding wounds and damage of varying degrees. They weren't alive. They weren't dead. They weren't undead. It was strange. Animals that had existed and didn't exist stood in clusters near almost humanoid figures of many types Mimsy wasn't even sure of. All of them mortally wounded in some way. It went on for almost infinity.

Behold My Magnificence!
Platonis to Magnus

Very well then, I will offer my protection and sponsorship to you on a preliminary basis. For now I ask only that you share your plans with me before enacting them. If I like them, I will give you more power. If I dislike them, I will warn you, and may eventually withdraw my protection.

If you do not have any immediate plans, I have been considering world affairs for some time, and I fear mortals do not yet have the power to defend themselves against beings such as you. There has also been a spread of fear and panic that worries me. I wonder if you have techniques you could share? An order of knights you could gather? I'm a great supporter of schools. A school that teaches defensive techniques, discipline, and good morals would be a wonderful addition to this world.

Mildly suggesting Magnus found a school for chivalry and such.

And the cats in the cradle and the silver spoon
Little boy blue and the man on the moon
"When you coming home, dad?"
"I don't know when
We'll get together then son you know we'll have a good time then."
Amrom, The Dark Lord, West Norn

You see, Dark Lord?
Violence is powerful, but not the only way.
See if you can put our teachings into practice.

"Dark Lord, an emergency arises. If the soldiers at Fort Neem end up killing their former countrymen, this will be terrible for morale and ruin our reputation. We must integrate the surrounding areas before man begins killing man over simple misunderstanding." Amrom gestures to two locations. "First, I suggest that you test the capabilities of the Giants by granting them lordship over the Castle in West Norn, provided they take it. Second, I suggest you seize Cankine and begin developing it as a second industrial and magical center. It is proximal to East Norn, where our enemies have begun to deploy their forces."

"We plan to grant you power in the coming year. The more effectively and efficiently our goals are accomplished, the more power you will be granted. Regardless, we will honor our bargain and protect you from the other Gods and Pretenders."

Suggesting The Dark Lord do the following:
1. Send the Undead Giants (4 Attack/4 Life) to take over the Castle of West Norn, giving the Dead Giants a place to call home once again.

2. Change Cankine into a center of Necromancy, Magic, and Industry loyal to the Dark Lord by demonstrating the unrivaled benefits such things have to offer. Ideally, this will allow the Dark Lord use his armies to carefully scrutinize any adventurers or demagogues coming from the South.

Cipher to Magnus

"Purifier... what all shall be purified by your hand, I wonder? Platonis is wise, but he sees in mortals only his own reflection. He expects them to strive towards his lofty ideals alongside him, but they strive towards other goals too, goals selfish and shortsighted.

I am no god of light; deep down in the darkened corridors of history is my place. But any who forsake the safety of home and take up arms to do great deeds are my children. If you wish to train them, to show them the path to greatness, then you have my blessing and my support. I ask only that you be careful, for power in the hands of all is power in the hands of fools and tyrants. Train only those worthy of your knowledge, and keep your true strength hidden."

I'll offer to help Magnus so long as he's careful and secretive about using his power, and doesn't let mortals know too much about himself.

"Little by little the old world crumbled, and not once did the king imagine that some of the pieces might fall on him"

Maen - The Seas

She remained in the sea for now, silent, simply enjoying the songs as they spread, ignoring all that went on above the surface. There was a false note however, as the insane presence was loosed. Still, the Goddess of Chaos was never one to dislike some discord. Truly, she barely needed to do anything to advance chaos in the world. She'd simply let things move as they would.

There was but one thing. She knew many mortals on the surface hunt these creatures, and now that they were friendly, some of them might decide they were easy prey. Still, her aspect was kind, right now, so she would provide a warning.

And that month, each men or woman that was involved in hunting whales or dolphins had a recurring nightmare. A vivid vision where they were hunting whales and dolphins. And then, once one of them had harmed it, its blood would pour like an endless fountain. Until the sea itself was the color of blood, and the moon overhead turned red as well. The seas turned violent, smashing the ship they were on, turning into a maw. And as the sea devoured them, they'd hear their own voices screaming endlessly. Only when the jaws shut, would they wake up, a scream still on their lips.

After a month, the dreams would stop. They were not the curse. They were the warning.

Spending Influence to give everyone who's involved in whaling/hunting dolphins some really bad nighmares. All of them exactly the same so people know they didn't just eat some bad fish the night before and the story spreads. Ending my turn there. Next turn, we'll see if there's many people who decided they'd totally ignore that warning.

To Maen: <"I'm not sure how I can be a beacon of hope for people if they know not who I am or what I stand for. If I meet your critera, I welcome the aid. If not, I won't miss it.">

The Dark Lord - Mindscape

To Amrom: <There will be casualties but I figure you know what you're doing, since you are the god here.">

4 soon to be thinned ranked Giants - Castle Norn(West), West Norn

The Dark Lord gives the order. The giants storm the castle, the defenders managed to slay one of the bone constructs before it could unleash death upon them. Enraged the other three ground the defenders to Dust. They now had a castle to call their own, the heads of the West Norn government cut off. It wouldn't take long to roll the rest of the country up like an old blanket.

One giant is destroyed utterly, never to be remade. There are 3 left. 3 Life, 3 Attack.

Maen's dreams and nightmares were filled with dolphins and other sea mammals suffering. The men hunting them could feel the harpoons tearing their own flesh, the nets binding them as they screamed. All other imagery that Maen wanted and more gave them a clear warning. Hunt her protected creatures at their own peril. Many decided to give up whaling and fishing overnight. But the joblessness caused by the collapse of the Confederacy of Merchant Princes affected economies everywhere. Desperate men and women soon found work that was abandoned by more seasoned hands. If anything there were more willing to do the work than before. A warning unheeded coming from retired sailors.

While the numbers of whalers lags in the short term, in the long term it might be a problem. Hope you have a plan!

Red flew to the furthest reaches of his domain, which was not as sizable as he remembered. Angered that these little flesh slugs had forgotten him and his good name, he breathed red fire into the night. Come morning these little flesh slugs would submit or die. His mountain and the village at its summit was mostly destroyed by an unannounced force, but Red could guess it was one of the capricious gods who did it. The smell of the dead Merchant Rulers' caravan was plain. Such a waste. He conquered the village of Four Waters first, then had them send messages to the other towns. They had seen the red fires from his mountain and they obeyed.

Red has taken the people of Port Redban, Sitha, The Four Waters, Tivac, and Whitescar as his possessions. He has spent 10 influence to do so.

Cipher

Cipher gazes across the world, watching the pretenders wreak havoc. "You see? When such monsters walk the world, only Meroth stands to gain." She looks to the town of Narne, safe for now beneath its defensive curtain, and then to Azariah the Great. "I think perhaps it is time they learned whose world this is, don't you?"

Mr. Prokosch
Feb 14, 2012

Behold My Magnificence!
Cipher asks a question, and so the gods hear. "Yes, I agree. It seems some of these newly awakened children must be chastised. They do not think about their actions. They are used to being treated as Gods, when they are merely mortals with a speck of extra power. They must be taught proper behavior, proper respect. I believe it is proper to give a verbal warning first, however. It is only right to give them the chance to reform before they are put down."

Platonis to Magnus

As the great light of Magnus fades, a disappointed and chastising presence enters the pretender's mind.

"Your very first act is to break our covenant? To spite your patron? To forgo my protection? You must think yourself very strong. Rest assured, we are Gods. You are not. Without my power, you would be dust before you even emerged. Against the likes of Meroth, you are an ant.

I would be well within my rights to let Meroth or Amrom tear you apart where you stand. You could not fight them. You could do nothing but die, mighty though you think you are. I am a creature of Law. You have disrespected me, paid no heed to the proper place of men and gods. Do not think I haven't considered it.

I do not disprove of this action. I even expressed worry about this state of affairs to you. I would have given my approval, had you asked, though I think this is an unsubtle and impermanent move, a balm for a man still trapped in an inferno. Because I understand what you did, and why, I maintain my protection. I will still treat an act against you as an attack on my person.

This is your only warning. Act without sharing your plans with me again and I will abandon you. And you will quickly find that you cannot protect anything, including yourself."

Platonis to Earth Warden

As a city is crushed beneath a Titan, a severe voice enters the Earth Warden's mind.

"For the second time this year a lesser being has agreed to a simple request. For the second time this year, a lesser being has broken its word to a God. I asked that you not strike out against a changed world. Do you not see that these buildings you crush are simply a new shape of Earth? That the people who inhabit them have as much right to their way of life as any other creature? Does not the beaver build its Dam? Does not the Hawk kill its prey? I am forgiving, but I have limits. You are reaching them. If you so much as touch another home, I will break you as easily as you broke these poor people. It is only out of respect for Mimsy that I stay my hand now."

Make your idle threats elsewhere. Harm me and you harm nature itself, I doubt mortals will find it easy to live in a blighted land.">

Behold My Magnificence!
Platonis to Magnus

You helped no one. You shouted at wounded and frightened children, assuring them that their mother was back to kiss away their wounds. They needed medicine and you gave them comfort. You wasted your power, in no way making the world better, especially if you die right after your grand assurances. Still, I didn't tell you not to do what is "right". I did not even ask for veto power. I asked that you inform me first, so we could coordinate our efforts. You agreed. Are you now going back on your word?

Platonis to Earth Warden

Nature's way? You are not Nature, my dear. No more so than the people you just murdered. You are a part of it, like any other. If you have a link to it, such that your death will harm others, then this is a simple design flaw that must be corrected.

So impatient, your lot is. So eager for your own destruction. You do not understand a world where you are not the greatest inhabitants. I will do what I will, when I will it. I have plans to make.

Platonis to Mimsy

Your companion has acted foolishly. Now she dares me to destroy her. She holds this wonderful place hostage, saying that she is Nature and her death would be a blight. Nature was fine when she slumbered. I would make her sleep and never awaken. What do you say?

Meroth spoke with a neutral tone. “We are gods. If someone breaks their word to us, they should be punished. It would reflect poorly on all of us otherwise. In case of the pretenders it should fall upon their patron god to enact justice.”

Meroth - Magnus, Mindscape

“Magnus, you call yourself a purifier, don't you? Yet you ignore those who are in greatest need. The southern lands are being overrun by the undead. A grave threat to this world that you would do well to not ignore it.”

Meroth - Earth Warden, Mindscape

Magnus is now an enemy of Platonis, his works, and what he's made. You've burned your bridge with him.

To Meroth: <"Thank you for the knowledge, though I doubt your motivations.">

Earth Warden - Mindscape

To Platonis: <"Are you insane? How retarded of a god of knowledge are you? I murdered no one! You're an enemy of nature and now an enemy of purity. You didn't even seek to ask why I did what I did! Mr. Prokosch

Behold My Magnificence!
Platonis - Godspace

It is as I feared. They think themselves Gods, despite beholding us. I am now fully with you in this, Cipher. My initial judgement was correct. They were better left sleeping. Perhaps that is a patron's duty Meroth, but Magnus has rejected my patronage without reason soon after agreeing to it. This seems like a silly act to me, but he can do what he wills. And you or Amrom can do as you will. He has not displeased me unduly yet, though he has shown himself to be a liar. I can accept liars and heretics living in my world, so long as they don't hold back more useful individuals.

To Magnus

"Nor did I ask for a slave. I asked for a warning, nothing else. When you did not give it, I expressed disappointment and pointed out the importance of patronage and cooperation. Do you really find that an undue burden? So much that you would name me evil? Fascinating. I may have misunderstood your nature. Perhaps Maen is a better sponsor for you. Very well. Find a new Patron to ignore. I wish you well, though you are a peculiar fellow. I do not know why you threaten me and my works, when you have so much "good" to do without me. I am not your enemy, though you would make me one by responding to mild appraisals with insults. I hope you manage to gather more power and do some more permanent good later then. You have my 'simple blessing' even if you reject my aid."

The Earth Warden

There is a flare of anger, then it is overwhelmed with curiosity.... "Yes, yes, you threaten what I love, after destroying some of it already, I threaten your existence. This exchange is no longer fruitful. I had a similar conversation with Mimsy once before. She was less insufferable than you, and after rash action and initial anger, we managed to come to an understanding. Still, there is wisdom in all places. You have made me angry, but I am not a creature of anger. Educate me. What is the motivation behind your actions? My nature is not to know everything, far from it. A being who knows all is without curiosity. My nature is to be both teacher and student, and to refine all, even myself. If you wanted to explain, why did you not explain first? Why destroy without elaboration?"

Mimsy - Mindscape - Magnus

"I feared Platonis might be too careful for your tastes. If you want to align yourself with someone unafraid to make positive changes to the world, look no further than myself."

Mimsy - Minscape - Platonis

"How dare you threaten the Earth Warden in that manner! If you had taken this tone with me back during our first conflict one of us would no longer be active in the world."

Mr. Prokosch
Feb 14, 2012

Platonis to Mimsy

I did not take this tone with you, dear sibling, first because I respect you far more. She claims to be Nature when she is not. It upsets me. Second, we made no agreement that was later broken. This also upsets me. But you are right. A spark of anger at the wanton destruction of something created in peace, nothing more. If you still offer her protection then I will respect that. As I said, I have plans, and my first ones have already been refined past the point of violence.

Platonis withdraws from the Earth Warden's mindscape, shutting out whatever she was saying, if anything.

Gohdog - Amrom

"Amrom, what do you seek by having Azriah overthrow the Troll Father? What is to be gained from this act of murder? What grievances does he have that may easily be soothed with words instead of blades?"

Gohdog - Pretenders

"Magnus, you have proven with action that you are a just and kind individual. Do not allow anger to sway you from the path you have already set foot upon, for to indulge in such things without careful contemplation is to weaken yourself and empower those who wish to undo you. Know your convictions, and do not allow yourself to be distracted by them. I would gladly grant patronage to you for what you have already done, and would hope that you walk with an olive branch in the future."

"Troll Father, you have yet to prove yourself to me through action, but your history speaks kindly of you to your children. I will protect you, for you have done no wrong that I have seen. He's noticed it too.
We haven't found the answer.
The prophet may be out of control.

The bones of Amrom's bodies twitch nervously at the question. "Azariah has grown different, and we have come to question this destiny for him. Perhaps the death of the Troll Father at his hands is not an inevitability, perhaps Azariah's journey will take him elsewhere. We are unsure of how it will end, and doubtful that the destruction required to end the Troll Father's long life is worthwhile, even if he is a staunch opponent of Necromancy."

"Do not tell him this. If he knows we doubt him, he will abandon all reason and seek more power from below. The point has been to create a democracy, not tyranny, and it is of course our own responsibility to handle this in the long run."

This is intended as direct telepathy to Gohdog. I definitely do not want Azariah to overhear this, and if he can, I would rather retcon Amrom to be completely unresponsive.

Beginning of Year 4 [4GR]

The Oceans
The sea mammals seemed to have among them those able to speak to morals. They tried to warn swimming mortals of the dangers of hunting their kind, that they too were people but of a different sort. Dreams and nightmares affected hunters of these creatures but there were always more to come.

Kwll, The Dark Lord, and Red the Dragon all have all nations in the grip of fear. The only good word is of Magnus.

Bakhan

Bakhan's king after months of mulling over things in committee and seeking signs from the gods and finding them good and on the side of peace had to finally concede that peace would be the final evolution of all things. Messengers were sent to Drune and Drukhan. The king of Bakhan would abdicate his throne in exchange for merging nations with the other two. The only concession that Bakhan would ask is that they run the bureaucracy of a new nation. A place the hatreds of the past were forgotten and they could manage things in peace.

Baron Kar Nor's Lands

The Baron and his lovely Baroness soon had a new focus in love. Making their people feel passion again. Several more incursions by the Nation of Beld were thwarted and they tired of the game. Massing all of their capable people they soon heralded the call to war against Beld's aggression. It would seem they were on the path to conflict, passions rode high and soon the conflict would commence.

Beld

Education at the Platonic university was at an all time high, though the government seemed only interested in those it produced that could be of immediate use to the nation, it tolerated the academy for it did bring forth new ideas. Alchemy and science were soon replacing superstition and sorcery in Beld. Everyone could use science and it was extremely accessible to learn more at the Academy. Several incidents of Ignatz's followers attempting to break into the library were met with failure, their bodies broken by a raging monster of some kind. Beld's army seemed to press evermore into Baron Kar-Nor's territory, trying to annex their old lands.

Caruqosa

The King in yellow sung a song. It penetrated deep into the earth. The things buried there twisted in dreams, on the other side of the world they could hear the sounds of hammers and pickaxes. The King tilted its head to the side, listening. DOOM.

Conclave of the Magi

An emergency council was convened. The most powerful ectomancers, soulmagi, and extradimensional artificers met. The news was dire. The New Gods had awoken the pretenders. Shook the attention of dread beings best left to sleep and had prodded the MorningStar out of apathy. They could sense the goddess Cipher's agents, the magical elementals creating doomsday bunkers. What were these gods planning? Steps would need to be taken. Steps.

Cult of the Dragon

When the dragon came, first the people despaired over their fate, but now they realized the dragon was a powerful patron. Greed, Hate, and sadistic individuals enforced the dragon's edicts and soon found themselves favored. They got better food and riches than the others if they did his will, a prison with a reward system under the dragon's shadow. The people, even the most down troden defended the dragon's lands with zeal and enacted high tolls and robbery on any who crossed the borders of his land.

Darklord's Domain

The Armies of the Tower as they called themselves began to sweep the world under their dominion, the Dark Lord planning in his tower while his forges churned out weapons and beings of war. It was what he did best after all. For Amrom of course.

Defae
:siren:

Alarm, alack! The Dark one was coming but they could do nothing. The Dragon had been awoken and he had murdered or cowed his way across their lands. They would need to raise an army of heroes but could not get word to their other holdings to do so. The converted towns feverishly defended the dragon's holdings out of fear of what he would do to them if they should slack. Eventually fear turned into cruelty and perverse pleasure. Though they were beneath the dragon and suffering, others could be pushed below them.

Drukhan

Emissaries from Drune and Bakahn approached Drukhan. It seemed both nations wished to merge with their own fledgling one. In peace! Amazing.

Drune

Quickly reacting to emissaries from Bakhan, the people of Drune too enacted their own plan of abdication with a catch, that they would be the army of the newfound nation and react to crises. Drukhan would be the center and capital of this nation. If they accepted the offer of course.

Dwarf hold

The party stopped and soon the dwarves above joined the ones below. Digging. Digging deep. Noxious gasses came from some of the veins they were cracking into. Masks were worn and workers falling out. They had to rotate in shifts but they knew they had to reach the treasure. At any cost.

East Norn

East Norn was taking steps to stave off invasion. With the Dragon and Dark Lord coming, all they could do was evacuate the citizens and try to fortify their towns.

Elven Retreat

The elves were curious about their western neighbors. Mimsy had made them elven yes, but they weren't true elves in birth. While cordial, there was a distance between the two nations.

Empire of Marek

Emperor Marek prayed to the gods. Prayed hard. Magnus the Purifier was walking the land. If he found out what he'd done to take over, he was a dead man. Magnus soon became a household name and synonymous with good and right. The people loved him and his compassion for the innocent and unbreaking resolve in punishing the wicked and evil. Word began to circulate around the world that some gods weren't pleased with him. Desecration of more than a few altars of Platonis became common, though none dared move against his priesthood or pet projects.

Erigon

Erigon was in an uproar about the Earth Warden, Mimsy, and nature in general. Men went into the woods slaughtering animal and plant alike, setting fire to that which they couldn't kill. It was ignorant and stupid. But the only way they felt they could strike back against nature. Even when the government tried to step in and maintain order knowing those acts would drat them all, people snuck out at night to do their dirty deeds.

Florn

Florn was seemingly unaffected by the gods and pretenders at large and treated most rumors as just that. Rumors.

Isle of the Freebooters

The Pirate clans once held a bleeding edge on having advanced ships. Then they had water priests. But now everyone had them. Piracy was still doing well since most nations were either destroyed or getting stomped on by the gods. All the better to steal. There were rumors of men receiving horrible nightmares for eating fish. Dolphin and whale fish especially. Dumb fish.

Kesk

Public works and medicine were breaking down. The university didn't produce anyone worth anything anymore. Other lands would start feeling it too. Just wait.

New Elven Empire

The city elves looked down upon their backwoods cousins at best as a joke behind doors and at worst as an impediment against progress. They could build a shining new Empire and crush the world under their feet. Having the Dark Lord as a neighbor was doing nothing to make them less apt to fight. Indeed they looked to Mimsy or Meroth to guide them into their next course of action. No one wanted to live as a corpse...

Turlac

The Red Mages of Turlac found that the world was moving swiftly. The troubles on their western borders would bear watching...

Valk

Since the fall of the confederacy of merchant princes, Valk has fallen on hard times. Since they now have lost their biggest exporter of goods the economy is failing. It is only a matter of time before the government falls into a state of unrest.

Vernak

Vernak caught and executed agents of the Dark Lord attempting to bribe high government officials. His tendrils seemed to be everywhere. Vernak has issued a public statement that should any more such incursions occur that they will go to war.

West Norn

Most of west norn has fallen into shadow. The last holdouts can do nothing but wait and pray for a miracle.

New Year Beginning. Points will be forthcoming in PMs.
:smugwizard: In world happenings are all listed in the 4 OPs. The Map / Locations OP specifically. Ignorance is no longer an excuse. If you don't pay attention you're going to pay and I'm going to assume you didn't read any of this or the other 10 times I've stated it. Also: If you don't post locations correctly (there is a listing in that OP I just told everyone about) your actions will autofail. This will get more expensive the more it happens. Typos are ok if they don't keep occurring over and over. You guys are doing great though, keep up the good work.
pre:
God who's actions have snow-hilled for greatest gain: Cipher
God gained the most points from Pretender acts: Platonis (from Magnus)
God who put the largest mark on the world: Amrom
God whose actions affected the world the least: Meroth

Gods spend their year generally not doing: Blocking with Power
Players most frequently: Interacted with Pretenders.
GM Advice: Everyone this year is doing better and are getting the hang of the game. Use Power to block others to damage their domains a lot more. Working with others on projects can net greater gains. Clashing with others and coming out on top nets greater gains. Don’t be timid and don’t be afraid to ruffle a few feathers to get the job done.

Rule change to using attack on mortal targets is posted in OOC Dicussion/Recruit Thread. All players have agreed. If there are any issues ask me.

"Little by little the old world crumbled, and not once did the king imagine that some of the pieces might fall on him"

Maen - The Oceans

One year.

One year the mercurial goddess had waited. Each blood of whale and dolphin blood, each silenced song, each insult to her meticulously tracked in her feverish mind. Some might have repented, some might only have heard of the rumour after they made themselves the target of her wrath. Even those who had knowingly cooked eaten the flesh of dolphins and whales. She was implacable.

She even used Platonis' calendar to measure it. One year. Exactly. And then, she whispered in the moon's ear, whispered her a song to sing. A song of madness and doom. A song that called one to the waves. And the mood did sing. Most could not hear it, for it was not meant for their ears, fortunate them. No, this song was for those who had sinned against her.As the moon rose, they would hear it, and they would rise from their beds, their cots, their refuge under the bridge. And deaf to all other things, they would make for the sea, paying anything to get their faster. All other things forgotten but the desire to go into the sea and meet their fate.

Only when day would break would the song fade, and their minds return to feel the exhaustion of the mad dash for the shore. Many would seek aid. Would flee back in land. Would seek cures or to do penance for their crimes. Yet each night the moon would call them again. And they would beg and fight and sneak and run to get closer to the call of the sea.

All it took was one touch with the ocean. Water from a glass wouldn't do. They had to stand in the sea. Then would the curse show its true horror. Skin would turn cold to the touch, greyish, soon to be fish-scales. As water enveloped them, arms and legs would shrink away, the legs fusing together in a fish's tail, and the arms replaced by stubby little fins. Their whole body would warp and twist in a nightmarish vision, sure to haunt the nighmares of those who watched it. Their internal organs would shift and change to make them fit for their new life under the sea. But some things wouldn't change. They would keep faces, recognizably human, an expression of horror on their face. And they would keep lungs and vocal chords.

So they could scream and scream, and scream. From the moment their change started, they would let out tormented cries. And they would swim out to sea, never to touch land again. Some of them were hunted by the dolphins and whales they once hunted. Feeding those that one day had fed them. Others, in desperation, for their minds were not given the reprieve of madness, remaining fully conscious of their state, would try to make for ships, and each time they would leap above water, like a flying fish, their mouths would let out desperate screams for aid.

Few sailors assisted them. The curse of Maen would soon be well known, and who would risk to join their fate? No, many sailors would turn away from them, considering them ill omens. Others killed them. Sometimes out of kindness, to put them out of their misery. Others, because of the last twist that Maen had given in the curse to these Screaming Fish.

They were delicious.

All right, some fuckers apparently felt Maen's warning was something to gently caress with. Everyone who hunted whales or dolphins, who knowingly cooked them or ate them will be overcome with a desire to go to the sea when the moon is out. Once they step into the sea, they are changed into Screaming Fish. Large, human sized fish with human faces that trend to jump over the sea and scream for help, especially near ships. They are delicious.

Meroth - Castle Norn, Fort Kelten, Gartten, GNARM, Port Fold, Port Selino in East Norn

Meroth took delight in the state the world was in. Terror and destruction were spreading faster each day. It wouldn't take long for the scales to completely tip into his favor. Only a few more pushes were needed.

One of these pushes was to happen in East Norn. The people thought that their walls could stop the wrath of the gods. Meroth would show them that they were gravely mistaken. A high wall might keep monsters out, but the wind could not be stopped by it and the winds would carry Meroth's wrath.

From his bronze throne he whispered dark words and blew them over the lands. A thick miasma touched all the cities in the realm, but spared Narne and the Seers. Everyone who was in the way of it would fall ill within days. Pus filled boils would cover their skin and they would be plagued by a whooping cough. People affected by the disease wouldn't die directly from it, but they would bear Meroth's mark. Everyone who saw them would know that they offended the gods.

Using influence to spread a disease in East Norn. It's not deadly, but it does make life miserable for the people affected by it.

Sometimes you reach a stalemate. Sometimes you get magic horses.
Gohdog - Castle Norn, Fort Kelten, Gartten, GNARM, Port Fold, Port Selino in East Norn

The pig-god's pervasive chops move swiftly to the site, where his great nostrils inhale the miasma- each breath sounded off by a mighty snort. With each great exhale the same virulence and infectiousness is maintained, though the nature of the disease is changed utterly. Those infected show no ill physical symptoms, nor do they even recognize the change at hand. It is something much more intrinsic and soft-

The people are infected with happiness, compassion, and courage. The disease knows no bounds between living and undead, smart or dumb. Enthralled or free. It is pervasive and contagious, and utterly difficult to cure. Those that this ailment takes, instead of being quarantined away and contained from society, are left with wide open doors and their true capacity for goodness unlocked.

Throwing a power bid down on Meroth's action to twist it. The disease is going to make people happy, loving of others, and confident in the face of adversity!

Gohdog - Amrom

"You needn't work with Meroth nor his agents of the material. From sorcery may come wonderful things. From undeath may come a release from the suffering of an ill body or the grasp of time. From industry may come the prosperity of many working for many more. From darkness may come comfort to those whom the light does not look upon. None of these must mark a mortal for suffering, as the Dark Lord has done with your tools. With you.

The being Magnus has set himself at odds against you because of your association with the Dark Lord and what he has personally attached so tightly to the idea of industry, sorcery, and undeath. Will you allow him to shape who you are and what you do? You hold the position as my fellow God, and I must speak against the fact that the wondrous gifts that you may give have been used as tools of suffering, domination, and tyranny. These are not the facets that I see in you, but instead the facets of a pretender who seeks to manipulate you and meld you into a patron of his own making.

Tell me, Amrom. Would you work with me to make paradise on earth instead of what it may become should we continue on this road?"

Gohdog - Magnus

"As I have granted you power it is my responsibility to dispense upon you my words. You are an agent of justice far beyond myself, this much is clear. I know not if you are hard or soft in your judgement, and I have left it to my luck and the benevolent graces that you will do more good than harm to our wards.

Every action that you take is vested with power. Defeat the closed fist with an open palm, Great Paladin. Let your blade only be raised in the defense of the innocent, but do not fight the persecution of innocence with the persecution of guilt. Acts such as these will only lead to empowering those who seek your demise.

Instead let these men know that they may seek mercy, and reform them to your side in the great duty of protection. Let them know that their existence is a precious thing, and that even those with a soiled past may redeem themselves with golden hearts."

Gohdog - Trollfather

"I must ask of you to consider something, vaunted Trollfather. Seek to mend the wound that has separated your people from that of the elves. Tell the people of the earth and mountains to flourish and feel happiness, and do not sacrifice this happiness for their safety. Know that I will not so easily allow harm upon your people unless it is first needlessly brought upon others, nor will I ever stop you from protecting your children."

And the cats in the cradle and the silver spoon
Little boy blue and the man on the moon
"When you coming home, dad?"
"I don't know when
We'll get together then son you know we'll have a good time then."
Amrom, Gohdog's Mindscape

The pig remains wise.
We must not let things spiral out of control.
More work is needed to demonstrate the true path.

Amrom appears before Gohdog in the Heavens, the Liches now equipped with a Scythe and Orb. "And even for there to be Death, there must first be Life. The road to extinction is not one we wish to travel. You are correct that we must assert our authority and demonstrate that our gifts are not terrifying or destructive, but are instead infinite creative power!" With a mighty explosion of darkness, Amrom vanishes, off to set things right.

Amrom, Azariah+Kesk, Humanitarian Initiatives

The Dark Lord at least understands the concept of diplomacy.
Azariah's path must be changed, or we may lose him to the Morningstar.
It is time to begin his re-education.

Azariah dreams once again, and Amrom appears. "Prophet! There are things you must understand. You will never become a true leader if you are only hated and feared." The liches gesture to the high mountains. "The Trollfather is strong because he is admired, because he provides things that are desired. Trolls look to him with admiration. You have learned how to fight and kill, but you must learn how to be loved."

"Look to Kesk. Their infrastructure suffers, they lack the sorcerous or industrial knowledge to improve it, and Death comes too early and too often to them. All of us together with provide them with what they need so that they desire to become our allies."
Now, Amrom gestures to the Wraiths and the Dreadnoughts. "You have the professors Ignatz killed and the mightiest construction machines in the entire world. The academy of MAGOS is our ally already. Together, we will rebuild Kesk and build it even greater and more wonderous that it has ever been."

As more detailed instructions flow into Azariah's dreams, Amrom disappears and makes a brief visit to Gohdog's mindscape. "Is this what you had in mind? We believe it will turn out nicely. The value of our gifts will be given a chance to speak for itself."

IAC NOTE:This action is tentative, and I will need to discuss some of the finer points with you.
1. Send Azariah on a mission to peacefully convince the Leadership of Kesk that their Nation's decline can be halted through a peaceful union with the Northern Confederacy.

2. Have the Wraith-Professors and the Mages of MAGOS teach the secrets of Dreadnought-building to allow for more efficient infrastructure, construction, and maintenance through Necromancy, Sorcery, and Undeath, and use Necromancy and Sorcery to train Healers and Resurrectors to combat the decline in trained medical professionals.

3. Set aside Mifel, Omette, and the two Small Towns adjacent to Omette as a refuge for followers of Ignatz and other malcontents.

Ignatz the Douter

A whisper, the suggestion of being, an immaterial presence, of a word given form, travels upon the winds to find the lord of Paladins, Magnus. The whisper is unbound by the petty tyrannies of distance, and is heard as if spoken into the ear of the knight-errant. "Magnus, do you know me? It matters not. You know Amrom. You know Meroth. You know Platonis. I know how you feel about the paths they tread, the paths they drag the mortals by their necks, the skin of their feet and legs flayed on the stones. They marshal their forces, preparing to cloak whole nations in night, to darken the world with dangerous arts. Do you know of Azariah? Of who he speaks to? He breaches the veil, Magnus, and I fear that my friend. That fear is a blade that cuts me more deeply than a thousand legions of the Anathema. Who is the Morningstar? When I consider the question, I chill my very soul in knowing with a deadly certainty that it will soon be answered. But I must ask you, Magnus, with the dead rising to devour the living and mortals peering into the darkling abyss, would you not agree that they need help? The free people of this world need protectors. Those like us, willing to stand against the darkness. If you would take my hand, we could save them, my friend."

Trying to convince Magnus to be my zombie-killing buddy. Of course, if he agrees, I'll sweeten the deal with points.

-Narne, East Norn-

They see the smoke long before the sails. Thick and white, the weary people of Norn fear it is some sort of new threat spawned by the terrible sorceries of the Dark Lord. But as it draws close, a sailor laughs with relief. A well-traveled man with sharp eyes, he spies the chains of gourds hanging from the netting of the ship, the yard arm, the mast, the bow, and just about anywhere that one could conceivably hang a gourd. "No need to worry," he cries out with a laugh. "They're only monks!" And indeed they were monks. They had traveled a for months over land and harsh seas from the Green Mountain Monastery. At times, they feared that they might run out of their sacred herb, but luckily, before leaving port, they managed to convince a Kushent to join them. After their acolytes arranged passage, the masters went through the arduous task of sanctifying the ship--by getting ripped on Sacred Herb and carving out hundreds of Sacred Gourds. Initially, the captain of the vessel objected to the holy objects, but Kushents are renowned for being the oil of diplomacy, and soon he was carving along with the monks, even helping to rename the ship--formerly the Madden Pike--to Gourd Almighty.

When the Gourd Almighty sailed into port, its namesakes rattled mightily, every breeze beating a staccato against aged wood and sail. Its occupants stumble out, eager to stretch their legs and get a bit to eat--not waiting for the gangplank and thus unintentionally displaying one of the higher Arts of the Empty Mind. Though, in truth, the Arts can only be employed without conscious intent. After eating their fill and getting the Kushent lodged at a respectable orchard, the acolytes set about to beginning the Holy Endeavor. The contacts in Narne were resistant at first--O'Rlyeh hires personalities, not ascetics, after all--but once they heard the ultimate goal, resistance against the Anathema, they were eager to help. Especially once they sweetened the deal with an exclusive interview with the Masters. The Acolytes did not think it would be any trouble; if the Noose Network could get anything out of them, they deserved their 'scoop'. They worked closely with the Great Demagog himself, trying to get the word out--hope had arrived. They could only pray that it was not too late.

Moving a group of highly-trained monks to aid in the defense of Narne and introducing a newly developed art to the people there--Somnotheurgy. Certain individuals throughout East Norn, found, contacted, and trained by Tomas and Bil O'R'lyeh in their dreams, gain the ability to affect the world in their sleeping hours. As of now, it's not terribly useful for offense. They can heal, create things, change bits of the world to their liking, all so long as they believe in their heart that it is right and just to do so. The heart is key--cold logic cannot make this art work. You must believe that you can--and must--heal this person or move that mountain, because every part of your heart wants it, demands it, needs it, and because it is right. This is part of the reason why attack is difficult. Many people can kill, given the chance or if forced to, but the wrongness of it is so deep in our being that most cannot use this art to murder.

Also, these new Dreamers will be directed to come to Narne, where the monks and Acolytes will teach them a bit about how to relax with the Unnamed God.

Behold My Magnificence!
Platonis – Dwarfhold
I will begin with a few gifts, then we will move on to politics. The dwarves dig deeply, looking for a prize. Well then, I will give it to them. Gold is an excellent material, but it is nothing next to knowledge. They need dig no deeper into the earth.

The gold falls away under the Dwarven miners, and they find something far greater than what they expected. A door, marked with the sign of Platonis. The door opens once uncovered, leading the explorers into a Great Vault. Within they find a treasure trove of gifts. Each one is beautiful, useful, powerful. But best of all, with enough knowledge each one is reproducible. The design comes from a god, but it they can all be copied with mortal hands.

First, they are greeted by the Guide. A construct of circuitry, electricity, a machine intelligence. The guide explains everything in the vault, and the scientific principals behind it. It lives to serve and teach whoever will listen. The Guide is built from a new alloy and equipped with an energy weapon to protect itself and others.
Then they are shown the Cornucopia Machine. This molecular factory can break down whatever is put inside to the most basic materials, then re-assemble those materials into something new. The Guide assures visitors that this miraculous device may be beyond their current understanding. But it is possible, without magic, without the intervention of a God. For now they can put it to whatever use they want. Someday they will build their own.
The third gift powers the first two. Clean, nearly boundless energy, sustained with only the tiniest source of fuel. A miniature sun, a perfect fusion reactor. It has limitless uses, the Guide will explain. Light, heat, automation. Platonis designed it and put it here, but it can be copied and built anywhere with enough understanding.

The fourth and final gift is not immediately apparent. But then the Guide puts its own design in the Cornucopia Machine. The Dwarves can make whatever they wish with the device. But first it miraculously produces enough guides to teach and protect a nation. Some stay in Dwarfhold. Some go to the Platonic Academy. Some go farther afield. The guides are smart, strong, fast, and equipped with weapons of devastating power. They will teach, and they will protect.

The Fundamental Laws of the Guides
1. The Guide will obey the will of Platonis.
2. The Guide may not injure one of the Chosen People or, through inaction, allow one of the Chosen People to come to harm, unless it will conflict with the first law.
3. The Guide will accumulate, protect, and share knowledge except where it will conflict with the first two laws.
4. The Guide will obey the orders given to it by the Chosen People, except where it would conflict with the first three laws.
5. The Guide will protect its own existence, except where it would conflict with the first three laws.

The Chosen People: Humans, Dwarves, Elves

Putting fantastic gifts in the way of the Dwarves’ inadvisable digging. The Cornucopia Machine is a molecular assembler that can produce almost anything physical, given time and materials. Think Star Trek Replicators.

The Fusion Reactor will provide abundant energy for the Dwarves to figure out how to use.

The Guides are an Army. In times of peace they will teach and serve. In times of war they will zap the ever increasing population of monsters.

Platonis - Beld
Back on the surface, Platonis takes note of the continued war between Beld and the Baron. There is an easy solution to this, but he gets the sense that Maen does not want her romance touched. And so he must walk a more difficult path.

The god peers deeply into the mind of the most troublesome king of Beld. He is trying to do right, in his fashion. But he is also a tyrant, and he has not obeyed the Social Contract perfectly. His ambition is too great, and he is too obsessed with his own importance. But these traits can be directed towards a more noble goal.

The King is struck with a sudden realization. His mind expands under the blessing of Platonis, and he can see so much that was blind to him before. Why does he struggle so bitterly over a few plots of land, when he could become the greatest Ruler ever known? Not using his soldiers, no. That was how other fools wasted their ambitions. He would use different tools. He would use cunning, and invention, and… love. With the new inventions produced each day in his land, and with the reforms outlined in the Holy Book, he could transform his nation into something everyone will admire for all time. Nations will beg to live under his rule. Where will he start? Yes, Valk, of course. They are suffering without the Merchant Princes. Their government is growing unstable. He will conquer them… with kindness. His merchant fleets will come with spectacular inventions and purchase techno-magical wonders in exchange. His government will be generous with aid. His reforms will be heralded as genius. Old hatreds will be set aside. And soon enough there will be an election… political marriages are so complicated, as are election by-laws. Who knows who can get on the ballet with enough generosity and legal maneuvering?

Making the King of Beld smarter, and showing him how his goals can be better reached through invention, reforms, generosity, and lawful maneuvers instead of violence and punishment.

Platonis to Godheg
See how, without a trading partner, the people of Valk become desperate? Beld has plenty of wealth, even if some is being squandered in a pointless war. I would channel the king of Beld’s ambition toward a more peaceful goal and show him how to become truly great. While I work from the top, will you work from the bottom? Will you help these two peoples set aside old hatreds, and become more generous towards each other?
