Extradite the terrorist. Also, we should legalise all drugs. Since alcohol is now too expensive to afford, the poor need something to distract them and it may as well be LSD or heroin.

I find it kind of funny that banning creationism in schools is so expensive when that has been a total non-issue in Germany for a really long time. Makes me wonder how much of the starting policy setup of all the different countries is copy and pasted from the US as the default state.

I haven't played around with it a lot, so I'm not sure if you can get some crazy starting situations using it. Commuters like everything that makes their trip to work easier, such as cheap and efficient buses, trains and monorails. They dislike sitting on the bus forever due to traffic congestion. Their interest are often at odds with the motorists, who hate money being spent on transportation modes that don't involve them getting to drive their pretty cars. However, both groups enjoy low traffic congestion, so spending money on road building or other congestion-lowering solutions can end up pleasing both groups somewhat in the long run.

The final tally: Extradite the suspect - 8 Keep him here - 18 Since there was no strong opinion either way, I decided to try out the idea of spending all available each turn. This will mean that small popular changes (and thus cheaper in PC) will be easier to implement. This will hopefully make things slightly more interesting and let us get more done each turn. The move was cheered by the liberal majority, although patriot websites across the country expressed discontent at allowing a foreigner suspected of violent acts of terror to stay in the country. The "Gott Raus!" act finally passes. Liberals celebrate what they call "Germany's long overdue step out of the medieval ages", as religious groups are disgusted by what they feel is an infringement of their rights. At the same time, a less controversial proposal to support startups is snuck through the Bundestag, with the hope of doing something about the poor business climate in the nation. After nine months of Lederhosen rule the state of Germany appears stable. There is much rejoicing as the noted chemist Georg Schadenfreude wins the Nobel prize, bringing a prestige boost and stimulating investments in high-tech biochemical industries. Especially the patriots see this as proof that Germany is, in fact, the greatest country in the world. However, the government's inability to balance the budget has caused the credit rating of Germany to be downgraded. This is worrisome news for the budget, as the interests rates increase steeply. Support for the LFAP remains high, with over three years left until the elections. The popularity increase is largely attributed to the happiness of the liberal majority with most of the recent reforms. The liberal glee over the Gott Raus! act and the asylum granted to the freedom fighter completely counteracts their displeasure with the introduction of police drones. As you can see, one of their other big gripes is the policy of compulsory ID cards. (which helps a lot in fighting crime, however) The Nobel prize is exquisitely timed, as it makes the patriots promptly forget about that dirty terr'ist occupying our precious soil. They are still concerned that our military is too small to properly defend ourselves though. The religious are quickly becoming one of the more unhappy groups, though it is expected that their membership numbers will drop over time with the policy of only teaching evolutionism in the school system. You'll also note that they have gained a bit of cynicism, making them less likely to trust the government in the future. The increases in homelessness and rioting have evened out, and are remaining at a stable high level. We are finally starting to see a decrease in alcohol consumption and thus abuse, due to the high taxes. LEGISLATION TIME No crisis to vote on this turn! 25 PC available. (we are expected to gain 24 next turn) The agenda currently looks like this (note that some PC costs have been changed, in part do to changing political climate and in part due to me correcting earlier mistakes): ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- More prostitution! 12 PC, no budget change. - (9) votes Implement Luxury Goods tax, 14 PC, +3 Bn per quarter - (8) votes Implement Taser Policy, routine level. 25 PC, -1.3 Bn per quarter - (8) votes Legalize all drugs, 27 PC, No budget change - (6) votes (Conflicts with Legalize LSD!)
