I really liked that besides Captain America we also had three women, and two black supporting characters...and the Terrorists weren't Arab/Brown/Korean!? WHAAAA?

She might not be an ideal widow, but screw it, give Scar Jo her Widow movie. She was great. So was Smulders and Sharon? And Anthony Mackie too. I saw the preview for Lucy and liked it as stupid as the 10% of the brains things is OMG 100% and let's warp reality!

Like, I don't think Hill, Sharon, Natasha and Fury or Sam displayed any sort of stereotypes or poo poo that other movies would do. They felt like solid characters if a bit one note at times. The performances were great.

Incredible Hulk was weak. Regular Hulk was the most bizarrely unique of them all.

Regular Hulk is above and beyond, still the best Marvel Superhero related film to date though it wasn't made under the studio.

I'm really happy with what they did with Iron Man 3, Thor 2, and Captain America 2. This movie was really quite good and I hope the final installment of Thor and Cap will get even better. Guardians though, man if that one kicks rear end...I dunno.

I'm not that optimistic about Avengers 2 but eh.

The pirate leader wasn't wearing a silly costume, so he had no right to be as good as Captain America.

Honestly I think this is a legit and acceptable line of thinking. Maybe the sillier the costume the more gooder you are.

Far from being an uncomplicated ‘good vs. evil’ story, The First Avenger is about an ‘American Hitler’ at war with the (neo)liberal Capitalism of today. It’s borderline left-fascist!

Hahaha this is an awesome viewpoint.

Hundu...you implying a Civil War or sorts? Because I think to a degree SMG has caught onto a thread that can be used and shows the separation in Tony and Steve if not overt.

If there's enough force it can shatter. Like I think Thor's hammer, the Surfer, Thanos with the Gauntlet have all contributed to a broken shield.

Mackie was awesome. And yeah he made the point that he's with Cap and loyal following him in adventure. Good representation of the Falcon.

Peter and MJ ending was a big time sad thing for me. Sigh. Happy that Stan Lee said gently caress that noise and kept it for the newspaper strip. Which is often more magnificent than a lot of things.

Pepper begins in Iron Man 1 as his personal secretary, where she usually ends up doing his laundry and stuff. The characters comment on this directly:

"I don't think you could tie your shoes without me."

"After all these years, Tony still has you picking up the dry cleaning."

"I do anything and everything Mr. Stark requires."

Out of context it sounds like he hired an escort to be his maid and secretary/executive assistant. A very Tony Stark thing to do and exploit the free and open market even if a little black.

And the joke about dry cleaning being she cleans his dirty laundry too I suppose.

Steve Rogers is Cinderella, his shield the glass slippers, the serum the magic to tranform, Erskine and Stark the Fairy Godmothers, and Nick Fury the Prince with SHEILD as the Kingdom and America the ball. The Winter Soldier is an alternate Cinderella that had Malificient as his fairy Godmother and has to fight for what was given to Steve.

Booyah!

SMG, curious...

Context: There is a multi-verse and it is collapsing. Earth is at the center of this. An alternate Earth enters a universe and collides with the other, destroying both universes. The Marvel Illuminati, a secret council of key heroes of Earth, have to deal with these incursions and unravel the mystery behind them. Thus far the only solution has been to push a world back to its universe and away or to destroy the other Earth. There is nothing else they have found will work. The only tool they had to push an Earth back to its own Universe without casualty is destroyed, the Infinity Gems, because they could not handle the strain and they have nothing else. It was one time use. And if the other Earth is inhabited, both sides will fight to save their respective worlds and universes if they must.

This will be right up your alley, you should read the books. New Avengers and Avengers by Jonathon Hickman. Infinity is an event that happens along the way of his run.

You were talking about the divide between Captain America and Stark, or how there should be one, well this is exactly the tone in the comics. They work together but are often at odds.

The Power of God wielded by Man

This reminds me. Captain America is one of the very very few who is worthy enough to lift Thor's hammer. The others being Beta Ray Bill, Superman and Wonder Woman. What does that say, SMG? I suppose you have to consider what makes Thor worthy in the first place and who he is, which gets into the politics and interpretations and motivations of Asgard and Odin. And then extrapolate to Captain America and Superman.

The mechanic's of Thor's hammer is an endorsement of the "Divine Right of Kings". It can only be lifted by those who are inherently superior. Technology cannot elevate one to the stature of royal blood. That's why the Hulk can't lift it: Bruce Banner is a commoner. Thor and Wonderwoman are both literally royalty, Beta Ray Bill is ??, and Cap is the closest thing America could have to royalty.

Nice one. Superman is...well Superman, the ubermensch (who was originally created as a villain) and is hailed as the ultimate hero and loved by the world. Wonder Woman represents the Amazons to the world and has lead the Justice League.

Except that Beta Ray Bill though is a commoner alien whose people were destroyed but was worthy to lift the hammer. Although he was augmented so in a way he was chosen for a greater purpose. Odin orchestrated a fight between Thor and Bill that Bill I believe won and Odin saw fit to forge a hammer specifically for him with similar powers.

Also there's this one.

"As the inscription states, only those the enchantments of Mjolnir deem worthy may even lift the hammer. Some who have been able to wield Mjolnir: Odin, Thor, Captain America, Awesome Andy, Thunderstrike, Beta Ray Bill, Buri, Superman, Wonder Woman, Deadpool, Red Norvell, and Dargo but Thor once stated that Hercules is worthy of wielding Mjolnir though Hercules has never tried. The ability to wield Mjolnir is not necessarily permanent, and may also depend on need. Superman was able to lift Mjolnir for only a short period of time."

And Magni, Thor's son and God of Strength from an alternate timeline. K.

EDIT 2: AH HA! Here's one that's a commoner for the most part.

Alright.

SMG you don't read comics right? Like taking it to BSS. Just curious because you usually have worthwhile interpretations and insight to discuss.
