Nice to see this LP back on track, and I'm glad I wasn't the only one bothered by the level design compared to the size of the frigate.
Also I'm sure that the book KalonZombie was talking about is "Death Troopers*": it's one of those books that are inevitably brought up when talking about the Expanded Universe. :v:

This is a Nebulon-B frigate, the same ship type as the Salvation. As I said in the uncut video, I don't really like the beginning of the level, when Kota and Starkiller are talking on their space platform, because it shows a severe lack of caring for the physical aspects of the ship they're on, especially the scaling.

As seen in the intro cutscene, the Rogue Shadow was definitely going towards the fore part of the ship, possibly even a docking bay in the area of the Surgery Suite.
Then there's the 45 second platform ride at high speeds through a ship that has a total length of about 300 meters, stopping basically right outside the bridge which should be several decks below their starting point.
After that Starkiller only goes down more and more on failing elevators, and somehow ends up in a reactor room basically right next to a hangar deck.

I really wish that LucasArts and Aspyr would have had the sense to at least get some stuff about one of the more iconic ships in the Star Wars universe more fitting.

Oh well, next time (hopefully not another 2 months away) there will be even more of the same corridors, enemies, and space battles!

This is less on issue in the Wii version, as the Salvation is an Assault Frigate, which is 600 meters long.

They switched the Salvation, which in the book is a Nebulon-B2 and in the PC/360/PS3 versions is a Nebulon-B escort frigate to an assault frigate in the Wii game? WHY?

That boss makes absolutely no sense. Aren't you on an allied ship? How did they hook this Terror Walker into the ship's systems to make a shield show up around it? Why does powering things back up take the shield down?

They could have had your radio shouting about all those things, but I guess they only had enough budget to get "It's got a shield, lower it!"

And hey, that quip's plenty reusable too!

Thanks for LPing this! I've never played TFU/TFU2 before, but I was curious about both the plot and the gameplay. Calling it a God of War clone seems appropriate. I'm glad they gave the nod to Guybrush (even though he totally looked stoned). Did anyone else think this?

Since the thread is reportedly not dead: From what I gathered, what Starkiller('s clone) disabled at the start of the fight was some sort of containment field around the reactor. Without it, the reactor interfered with the Terror Walker's shield generators. The reactor goes offline when those cells eject from their sockets, and putting them back into place restarts the reactor and brings the Walker's shields down again.

And yeah, the story's totally stupid. I was a huge Star Wars fan as a young man, but there's very little of it I actually like these days. The Thrawn trilogy is always worth mentioning, as Kalon said... and I do like Timothy Zahn's more recent books that take place between Star Wars and ESB. Beyond that, the series is too much of a clusterfuck to bother with anymore.

Still can't believe they had the nerve to charge $60 for TFU2, when it's like half the length of the first game, which was already short.

The design of that Nebulon-B Frigate keeps getting more and more dumb.
Not to mention that it has a cannon that is capable of cutting a Star Destroyer in half. :psyduck:

At least we had using the Force to have some fun with those two helpless stormtroopers on that platform, which was a lot more memorable than the rest of the level. :v:

Why is Kota yelling all the time? I thought Jedi were supposed to be serene.

"Hey Starkiller! I need you to drop whatever you're doing and do something tedious."

This game basically exists solely to justify the amazing DLC.

The first game has a better plot and better levels and generally better bosses, although it was also a bit harder in that regards.

Yeah, I love the "locking the exits" thing; they don't even TRY to justify it as anything other than Kota saying "gently caress you" to Starkiller actually going where he's supposed to. Though in regards to how the QTE on the incinerator droid works, when you pull the arm off it starts leaking fuel all over; Starkiller stabs the ground to light said fuel. Don't ask me WHY a flamethrower droid can burn up, but there it is.

In more positive news, my new computer runs fine, the next video will be in glorious 720p30 (didn't want to change resolution mid-LP, and sadly the game only runs at 30fps) once I manage to schedule the commentary team. So just as always!

I really want them to return to this concept again, but with the same team or director as the first game. A God-of-War style brawler in the Star Wars universe has SO much potential, and I'd love it if they wouldn't marry it so closely to the films, but kind of let it go off in a new direction.

Keep Starkiller dead and instead give us a new character. Maybe a former Imperial Bodyguard (those red dudes) who is fleeing the Rebels/New Republic in the aftermath of the Emperor's death. Flee to Dagobah, find some Jedi temple or relic or some poo poo, go on a journey to gather power across a number of cool worlds and locations, then end with a huge fight against the New Republic and end with you as the New Emperor of some Sith world, slowly awakening an army of battle droids.

It writes its drat self!

Yeah, Arkham combat wouldn't fit well when most enemies have guns, but Rising would work. Anything you can't deflect you can slice up.

Don't imagine a 1:1 translation of Arkham combat, just the basics of the system. Stylish, lots of timing required, and an emphasis on counters and parries. Besides, even assuming lots of enemies have ranged weapons, your character is carrying a weapon that deflects shots. I wouldn't mind seeing the cutting system from Rising either, but I just feel that game's combat is so fast compared to how a Star Wars game should feel.

Well, I don't know how Lucasarts managed it, but they managed to make the sequence where Starkiller is throwing around Star Destroyers and HALO-jumping into a planet's atmosphere incredibly boring. Then followed it with repetitive fight sequences and tedious platforming.

I'm just glad the commentators are interesting and fun. Thank you for suffering through this game so we don't have to.
