In all seriousness, it's widely known that the NSA was (is) spying on most european states, even as far as Merkels cell phone.
The german government doesn't really give a rats rear end about it though. However, to shut up the public they initiated the "NSA inspection committee", mostly for show purposes.

Now the almost comical thing is, just earlier today it leaked out that an employee of the BND (the german intelligence agency) was sending everything that is happening within the NSA inspection committee straight to the NSA.

No one cares though because gently caress that, we're playing the World Cup.
