He's middle aged, in good shape (lots of expeditions), and has no wife or kids, but several siblings who live all over the place. As a result, he rarely sees them. He's fairly introverted, but, after a few drinks, will happily begin lengthy discussions of geology and the environment to anyone silly enough to feign interest.
