So how bad of an idea would it be to use an antimagic glaive as a vine? I need a good weapon and found this artifact glaive. I only have 10 mp with it equipped by maybe combined with the magic draining bite I could really gently caress up spell casters with this.

EDIT: I've found like 8 artifacts that could of been fantastic for this character but they all had poo poo stats :geno:

....good point. I was just desperate for a good weapon, but I think I solved that problem. Donald was carry a +2,+5 demon trident of electrocution and a shield of reflection. I need to train up shields to use it but it will solve some problems I'd been having with ranged attackers.

Jazz the species/class/god scores are from when you started the character, not when you complete it. Take your time, don't wreck yourself and collect on that sweet, sweet Gargoyle score if you started it yesterday.

Why did I have to find a lajatang of speed with my DEFE? I'm not responsible enough to make the right decision here.

It's still pretty early in the game, should I enchant this up and start pumping Staves? I'm sporting a buckler and a flail of protection right now, and I'm relying on conjurations for dealing damage. I kind of think I shouldn't switch over at least yet -- Vehumet and starting FE book have been carrying me pretty well.

If I do decide to go with the laj, what should I prioritize defensively?

Not My Leg: Nov 6, 2002; AYN RAND AKBAR!

I just somehow survived a really stupid mistake (well, a combination of several really stupid mistakes really). Before Lair I accidentally wield IDed a Morningstar of Distortion. Oops, but distortion isn't a terrible brand, and a Morningstar isn't a terrible weapon, so I could deal with it. Plan was to use it until I found something worth switching to and found a scroll of vulnerability in case I got contaminated on unwield. Cleared Lair, cleared Orc, cleared the dungeon, and finally found a scroll of vulnerability on Snake:4, right around the same time that I was getting concerned that blinking away Naga Sharpshooters was going to get me killed.

Plan: go back to my stash, pick up a new weapon, unwield the distortion weapon, read scroll of vulnerability if I get contaminated.

What I did: go back to stash, unwield the distortion weapon (by dropping it), get banished to the abyss. Okay, I can probably fight my way to an exit, let me just equip... Wait, I didn't pick up anything: second mistake. I have no weapon. Got down to 4 hp with a no healing transient mutation before I realized that I had a scroll of acquirement. The 4 hp somehow lasted through killing enough enemies that I got to slow healing 2, which allowed me to heal up out of combat and eventually find an exit.

So, my first tournament character is still alive. Now just need to survive teleportitis, berserkitis, and the degeneration 2 mutation long enough to find some cure mutation pots.

E: All mutations cured and nijnaed the decaying rune from the Lernean Hydra.

Rocked my fifth win, a Gargoyle Berserker. Trog gave me a +7, +15 battleaxe of freezing as his very first gift and it was honestly gg from there. I got a few executioner's axes but could never manage to get the right brand I wanted (burning four Brand Weapon scrolls in the process) and even then couldn't get it enchanted high enough to overcome the +15 damage on the battleaxe.

It took me an embarrassing amount of Gargoyle games (14) to finally win with one. I had four Gargoyles who were likely winners get splatted by overconfidence or by being overwhelmed by enemies. This time around I kept Fighting on for the entire game and never turned it off so I could get as much of that sweet, sweet HP as I could. Got Armour/Dodging to 5 before focusing entirely on Axes until mindelay, then turned them back on.

Got Abyssed in Snake and took quite a while before I could get out, and I incurred multiple bad mutations in that trip. Couldn't find any !cMut so I rushed through Vaults, blew up the entire welcoming party with Immolation & rF+++, then got every last consumable from my stash and dashed through Depths and Zot. Is it me or did they ramp up item destruction? I entered Depths with ~50 total scrolls, reached Zot: 5 with roughly 10. I had juuuust enough for what I needed (magic mapping, a couple teleportation, one blink) so that was good.

edit: I mentioned earlier that the game starts bogging down horribly during midgame. Closing Chrome entirely then restarting it seems to solve the issue, but only temporarily. There's some sort of memory issue going on I think.

You'd think so, but most beefy melee dudes can take the Learnean on without much trouble. When you have high AC, a bunch of weaker melee hits aren't actually going to do major damage, even if there's 27 of them.

So where do you go after reaching vaults:4 now? I don't feel like I could take Vaults:5 already, but I'm not sure where else to get exp. I supposed I could go to crypt but I normally ignore it. How difficult is the Depths relative to Vaults:5?

You can probably do Crypt without much hassle, I tend to just check out Depths to see whats up. Depths is just more Vaults but with less Wardens and more Bees. Looks neat tho

E: I'd definitely save V5 till after those others, unless there's some particular combination of assholios in Depths. Depths has a lot of the badguys you'd see in V5 but just not so jampacked together.
