Like the mods will go through your posting history to make sure you're not posting in the "wrong subreddits" and if you decide to stop posting in SRS, you can't just up and leave, you get interviewed on why you're leaving. von Daniken's stuff is amazing if you want to get an idea of what it's like to be certifiably insane. I used to lap his books up in junior high, it was like this weird alternate history science fiction. David Childress was another one I loved. Then I found out they meant it, and to these wackos it wasn't just science fiction. I haven't picked up one of those books in years. I should go see if I can find my copy of Chariots of the Gods, I could use a chuckle this weekend.

That doesn't mean that either of those things have anything to do with whatever she's going on about. Anyway. Here's an adult woman who makes $350,000 a year complaining because a nurse wouldn't give her a sandwich.

I know a lot of doctors, and a lot of nurses (and I'm biased as all hell as I was raised by one and my mom is awesome ) and I can tell you flat out that nurses work a hell of a lot harder and put up with a hell of a lot more poo poo than doctors. They're in the rooms dealing directly with patients and families every day, and I've only met a few doctors that refer to patients as anything more than a list of symptoms.

You must only know fantastically lovely doctors. Like that lady's terrible and nurses deserve plenty of praise, but good doctors are just as invested in patient health and care. Though to be fair this is based off experience with clinic doctors, if hospital doctors are super lovely I wouldnt know.

If you're making three times the salary of your co-workers, you don't need them to pat you on the drat back and give you one of their sandwiches.

If you're making three times the salary of your co-workers, you don't need them to pat you on the drat back and give you one of their sandwiches. In addition to awesome pay, doctors traditionally have also been allowed to treat nurses and everyone else below them like poo poo without any reprimand. This is changing, but very very slowly. Not all of them treat people like poo poo, of course, but those that do end up with a bad reputation and not much else in the way of consequences. And I love that she brings up nurses being mean to residents as some sort of evidence, because no one treats residents worse than the doctors themselves. And in the hospital I worked at, nurse's didn't have a swanky 'nurse's lounge'. They had the lovely room that everyone else in the hospital ate at. But if she wants to switch that pay and benefits for 6 more days of empty gestures, I'm sure the nurses would be happy to oblige.

It's not like xe's actually wrong, but I'd very much like to see a list of movies of which xe does approve. That said, there's some kind of pathology going around the Internet where people lay claim to membership in as many minority/oppressed groups as possible, apparently so they can feel special. It's like a type of hypochondria, and it definitely doesn't do anything to actually address the real problems of social inequality.

OK, Suey Park is an idiot, but I feel compelled to point out that the offending tweet was posted after the episode it goes with was taped...but before the episode itself had aired. That is a joke that REALLY needs context - when read just by itself with absolutely no idea what it is referencing, it can come off as a bit shocking. The real problem is that someone at Colbert Report had an itchy trigger finger. The whole thing was dumb but it becomes a bit more understandable once you understand the timeline of it all. It was mostly just a huge misunderstanding because, again, bad timing. Context is king. Of course, once it came out what happened and that the tweet was supposed to go along with, a sane person should go 'ooooh yeaaah, I got it now', but Suey just kept going because of stubborn pride. Man, the way things are going on the Internet, you absolutely cannot enjoy anything to do with another culture unless you're a part of it, and you especially can't if you're someone with European heritage. Food, style, whatever, it's all being touted as appropriation now. I got incredibly pissed the other day because SJWs were flipping their poo poo about Cinco de Mayo and DON'T WEAR SOMBREROS YOU RACIST CISHET WHITE SCUM, then comparing sombreros to wearing a head dress! A sombrero is a hat! A head dress is not! Basically, the tier for how easily gets offended over the slightest, from mildest to wildest is as follows: Buzzfeed Tumblr XoJane XoJane comment sections are my new favourite.

Segmentation Fault posted:Park joined forces with Michelle Malkin over the #cancelcolbert thing. No, she didn't. Malkin piggy backed onto Park's #cancelcolbert campaign because a lot of the right loving hates him and wanted to play on the left "in-fighting." Park just failed to distance herself afterward. The Colbert tweet made more sense with context, but I've always kind of disliked the stupid Ching Chong character. It comes up with little prompting sometimes, and though the joke is that casual racists are assholes, I think the punchline for a lot of people is the racist voice itself.
