Those stretched polygons at the end are usually a symptom of a failing/overheating video card, not a bug in the game. If it starts happening more frequently or in other games your card is probably about to die. I hope you haven't already been hit by the LP curse.

The time limit on the demo probably kept me from buying the game. I hate hate hate time limits, especially in open games, and I think I had just barely made it to the first town when I was cut off, which immediately killed any desire I had to play the demo or game again.
