Ignoarints posted:until about 2 years ago I was pretty independent from things like my email accoutn you should probably download it all using like a client like thunderbird so you have it on backup. i recently did this because sometimes im travelling and need to access stuff since i also use it like notepad for random passwords and notes. gmail's not going anywhere but better safe than sorry

For passwords do yourself a favor and use keypass. It will store your passwords (in an encrypted database). It will even generate them for you. You already have a single password (your email password) might as well move it to a database that is more secure. You can even email a backup copy of your keypass database to yourself in case you lose it. You can attach things in keypass and probably use it as a notepad too, but you'd likely be better off with some txt files on a thumbdrive or something designed for it then trying to mess around with it for notepad usage.

I wipe everything in all my mailboxes at least on an annual basis. Helps me not get too attached to any one thing. It's fuckin strings of characters. I can always make new ones.

I have several email accounts. Most are redundantly stored either on my home computer or the servers at school. The only things I would lose would be my big pile of spam at yahoo and all my SCP Foundation voicemail reports. So nothing mission critical, but only mildly amusing rants by paranoid tinfoil hat wearers.

All accounts and passwords are securely backed up on a redundant server in the form of a spiral notepad I keep in my desk. Buried under doodads and stale gum...very safe I'd say.

Real post, all my passwords are physically written down in a notepad on my desk too. someone would have to break into my house, steal my computer, my notepad AND my phone to get my gmail account.
