The scale is starting to look like something you'd expect from an MMO. I was worried it was just going to be a series of small arenas like in Space Marine.

Starting to look more like planetside which is good but I wonder how they are gonna make melee more viable then just covering a base in heavy bolters and shooting everyone.

Give melee a damage reduction against ranged attacks and tweak the jump pack. Right now it looks like the distance and height that it lets you cover it tuned for small scale battles like in Space Marine instead of giant open battlefields and fortresses. They said in the video that friendly fire is always on. Let's see how far along they get into the beta before they realize what a terrible idea that is.

Hopefully they keep friendly fire on for orks, I thought I'd heard somewhere that regular ork boys would be a free to play race with friendly fire on and a %dmg dealt/dmg taken buff based on how many targets you hit in a given amount of time. Would make perfect sense then for orks to run around in a big clump, hitting each other until they found something more fun to fight. At which point it's a headlong charge with a few swipes to ensure you get to hit it first and keep your buff stacked.

They could just give melee the characteristics usually reserved for video game shotguns, so you've got some kind of leaping/lunge attack (with a short-ish cooldown) to get in from shotgun range. That combined with a jump pack would make it super viable no matter what kind of guns you add.

Also, I finally broke down and bought one of the smaller Founder's packs. It's starting to come together enough that I know I'd end up spending at least some money on it when it comes out. My referral code: EC-3MKA6PVJ2MABV

If you guys are buying packs for yourselves, don't forget to go into your account and Apply them. Your points will show up, and you'll get to make your characters (name/faction/subfaction). Given that I have no idea what the sub-factions are going to have an effect on gameplay wise, I thought it wise to make sure good, Emperor-loving Goons should have a primarch on their side. So my Ultramarine alt is Rowboat Gooeyman. Be sure to read his book.

they need to make it that if you disembark from a tank and get killed, your tank has a small chance of self-activating its machine spirit and killing everybody

I want to believe in this game and I want it to be good. So long as it's not instanced heavily, it probably should be. Massive battles would be amazing.

The marketing and monetization is all anyone needs to know when deciding if this game is in the hands of people who are actually looking to make a good game instead of pleasing investors.

There's no loving way they're not in way too deep on this project. Eternal Crusade is the Wildstar of online shooters. quote:By 2010, the studio's name was reverted back to Behaviour Interactive, partly due to increased production of original titles and thus stronger presence in the gaming community, partly due to the availability of the original name, and partly due to the obscene meaning of the word "A2M" Infeckt posted:They also need to make capturing a fortress meaningful. You didn't even post the best part. quote:So a drive to rebrand itself as a consumer-facing creator of original IP is the message Behaviour wants to deliver; however, there's another ribald reason for the name change. The studio's "A2M" nickname is also shared with a particularly obscene pornographic custom; Google searches for the company (and especially Google Image searches for its logo) would routinely return indecorous results. When asked if that was an impetus for the name change Racine simply, and tersely, replied, "Yes."

Yes the game being fun is obviously the first and foremost priority, kinda goes without saying. What I meant was don't expect Space Marine Chapter LoLGetRekt to care about seizing Goon Fortress and sparking a massive battle without a compelling enough reason. Claiming territory and massive battles being two of the main selling points of the game.

Freakazoid_ posted:Like what, am I going to build my space marine tower here? Or my ork fort? What is meaning of meaningful? More like eve online maybe? From my understanding we wont have the ability to build or place our own tree forts, only capture/control ones constructed by the devs. Meaningful as in some type of bonus for the faction/chapter/whatever that controls the fortress. Or, only that faction gains access to certain PvE instances that are within a fixed distance from said fortress. Pretty much anything other than "We need to go capture that stronghold because we are Space Marines and gently caress Orks".
