One time I was unfortunately in surrey and I was waiting for a gap in traffic to cross this busy six lane road, but then all three lanes on my side of the road stopped for me to cross. I wasn't near a crossing or lights or anything, they are just really that polite.
It's still better to not be in surrey though.
