I'm so sad. Cheating, lying, racist fraudster loses his job and will have to scrape by on his banked millions and property portfolio. The humanity!

BJ Penn put it well during the Sean Sherk debacle. Someone who takes steroids in another sport is doing it to run faster or jump higher. In MMA they are doing it so they can do more damage to another person. It's morally reprehensible. (The fact that Chael was doing it while preparing to fight roid-goblins is irrelevant).

I think any time there's someone with talent making money, it's natural for crowds of people to attach themselves like leeches hoping for a cut. Having said that, if a manager can influence the company to the degree that they're paying a fighter in excess of 20% more than they would have if he was unrepresented (or badly represented) then they've earned their money.

I'd imagine a good manager will get you considerably more prize money, sponsorship and more favourable match-ups than a Mike Kogan. I'd be surprised if a dietician is on a percentage rather than a flat fee, and I'd like to see them try to justify it.

The Chael news sucks but as was already posted he'll be fine.

Also people mad at him saying things to hype a fight must have never watched pro wrestling where there is literally a 'hate on everyone who isn't an american' heel character doing the a worse schtick than Chael in 2014 but because it's a pro wrestling character nobody worries about it. Fight hype Chael is completely different than post-fight press conference Chael. It's all an act. It's weird to me when people can't separate characters from the actual people but I guess that means it's working.

It's not about being mad at him. Just because you're trying to sell more tickets for something it doesn't give you carte blanche to say or do whatever you like. If you tell a racist joke, you are by definition a racist. You can say "I'm only joking!" at the end, but that doesn't alter the fact that you are a racist.

It doesn't prey on my mind or keep me up at night, I encounter racism pretty much every day and I couldn't give a poo poo if some guy who lives thousands of miles away from me that I'll never meet is a racist. The only issue I have is that his comments get airtime and there's plenty of impressionable young people out there that see him as a sporting hero, when he normalises that sort of language it has a pretty significant negative impact.

But whatever, it's just an act.

No you aren't. By definition, you're a racist if you believe that one race is inherently superior to another. Telling a racist joke is just telling a racist joke.

Arguments over semantics are dull. Racism can be demonstrated by belief, policy, action or practice. If Chael was being ironic, you might have a case, but he wasn't and you don't.

Did anyone know who he was like 2 years ago except in passing?

He had a piss-poor record as a fighter and got JT Moneyed on the first episode of season 7 of the Ultimate Fighter. But he did put on great fight with Mike Pierce once, a real back and forth battle.

My favourite chael moment was when he was talking about how he kept up his work in real estate. He was like "nobody actually trains full time. You cant train for 8 hours. Everyone else is lying. Im pretty sure". then he got tossed by maia

I was at that one, and it remains one of my favourite cards. Every fight was brilliant and hilarious (except the main event which was just Diego and Joe Stevenson whiffing misses at each other for 15 minutes).
This was the event that gave us 10-1 underdog Paulo Thiago knocking Koscheck out, Nate Marquardt's "ballet of violence", Chael getting trip-tossed, JDS making Struve do the baby giraffe. And I got my tickets half-price.

An epic night.

There's a lot of research about "decision fatigue", where the more difficult decisions you have to make during a given day the more likely you are to make the "wrong" choices. During a training camp fighters are already under a ton of stress and having to do a lot of difficult things in any given day, hiring someone to take everything related to food completely out of your hands so you don't have to think about it is probably a good investment. Dolce just happens to be a guy who's made it his niche.

Yeah, this is true. I also saw one study about willpower, where it was shown that you can quickly exhaust your willpower on one matter, and you won't have anything left for someone else, even if it's a completely different part of your life.

Here's a little interview with Faber.

http://youtu.be/IcgbWLvggc0

Talks about his clash with Bang and maybe fighting Dillashaw. He looks pretty drawn out though, must be a hard cut for him. His chin-hole looks particularly hollow. A little bet on Caceres at +800 perhaps?

Edit: While we're watching videos, here's Embedded ep 3.

The prelims are pretty average, but I've watched every Masvidal fight since he beat the piss out of Kimbo's protégé on some dirty street so I'm looking forward to the Cruickshank fight.

But that main card is pure gold. A very important eliminator as the main event, and every other fight has high potential for terrible violence.

Cowboy put on 19lbs in 7 hours after the weigh-in. Now, I'm no mathematician, but if 1 litre = 1 kg, then 19lbs is about 8.6 litres which is approximately 25 bottles of Budweiser.
Having that sort of weight advantage will surely be negated by the hangover he'll be dealing with, no?
