 Been working on a design for a tattoo - of course, I didn't take into account the weird shape that it would need to be for a shoulder piece, so I've got to do some extensive reworking. Still, for an initial design I think it's pretty neat. I'm just lucky I didn't get too much further before I realized how much I'd have to modify it.

You mean pressure hardness, size, and color work, but not opacity? That's pretty weird. Does opacity with a mouse work?

Speaking of opacity though, you think its better to use that to color something or just try to match the color by eye?

Yeah, I have to manually change the opacity, which is a pain in the rear end. And that's the only dynamic I really use. I'm kind of wondering if it could be the stylus itself. Can poo poo get stuck up in that, and need to get cleaned out of it? And scarycave, I'm not really using it for different colors, so much as blending them together. Obviously I gridded this out. I discovered mid-render that I'd lost my middle line, and the reason why was because I let the grid come unaligned from the source image. That particular fuckup notwithstanding, I feel fairly satisfied with the way this came out.

Keeping up with my daily practice. I find it really hard to paint rather than draw, I started with manga, and the urge to give everything clean simple lines is deeply ingrained.

Bit ill, so I thought "Y'know, this is a good time to practice!" First sketch of the day... Practicing light/shade by inking in the style of older comic artists. The (relatively) flat coloured version though, doesn't look grand. But still...  ...No, I didn't follow head proportions amazingly closely, why do you ask? EDIT: On reflection, there are light patches here that are just plain wrong, like the one on the left side of the neck. Sadface. EDIT 2: And a second quick sketch, with a blueline in case anyone wants to point out I've got my proportions wrong (I did... Dammit.)

Hey, long time no post. Here's some stuff from the past few days: Face practice, sketchbook to digital. Some cartoony, some more realistic.  Drawing, thinking about Dwarf Fortress.  Something mechanical! *edit* Forgot to say, aside from the fish and some color tweaking, this was made in Krita. I'm digging it for some stages of production.
