No. It's like that through all five seasons. It's incredibly overrated. There are some good characters. But that's really it.

It's a really good T.V. show and I can't really think of many T.V. series that ran for 5 seasons that were all rock solid. I guess the goon follow up response to that is Battlestar Galactica but I can't honestly say every single season was a knock out. There's just too much what the hell that was never figured out and I do remember a few really big story line yawns. The number of shows that were "nearly perfect" from start to finish is pretty small. Most examples have a huge crap season. If Dexter ended at season 4 or 5 maybe it'd be a candidate. I know someone mentioned this already but Season 5 "rock solid"? Come on, man. The Wire is awesome but 5 can gently caress right off. EDIT: also gently caress the OP

Season five was the weakest by far but when compared to most other television it was still really good and they wrapped up the series nicely at the end

It takes a bit to get into it but god drat is The Wire da fuggin best. After marathoning that poo poo in a weekend long session of fist pumping and hooting, every other show felt like cartoons

The Wire isn't a bad show. That's the best thing I can say about it. It's not particularly memorable. It's slow. Not much happens. There aren't any winners. There are losers, though. Those people who call it the greatest show of all time? Yeah, them... they are the losers.
