"It is the 41st Millennium. For more than a hundred centuries the Emperor of Mankind has sat immobile on the Golden Throne of Earth. He is the master of mankind by the will of the gods and master of a million worlds by the might of his inexhaustible armies. He is a rotting carcass writhing invisibly with power from the Dark Age of Technology. He is the Carrion Lord of the vast Imperium of Man for whom a thousand souls are sacrificed every day so that he may never truly die. Yet even in his deathless state, the Emperor continues his eternal vigilance. Mighty battlefleets cross the daemon-infested miasma of the Warp, the only route between distant stars, their way lit by the Astronomican, the psychic manifestation of the Emperor's will. Vast armies give battle in His name on uncounted worlds. Greatest amongst his soldiers are the Adeptus Astartes, the Space Marines, bio-engineered super-warriors. Their comrades in arms are legion: the Imperial Guard and countless planetary defence forces, the ever-vigilant Inquisition and the tech-priests of the Adeptus Mechanicus to name only a few. But for all their multitudes, they are barely enough to hold off the ever-present threat to humanity from aliens, heretics, mutants -- and far, far worse. To be a man in such times is to be one amongst untold billions. It is to live in the cruelest and most bloody regime imaginable. These are the tales of those times. Forget the power of technology and science, for so much has been forgotten, never to be relearned. Forget the promise of progress and understanding, for in the grim dark future there is only war. There is no peace amongst the stars, only an eternity of carnage and slaughter, and the laughter of thirsting gods." Setting Details You are part of a Deathwatch contingent deployed to Watch Station Oertha, situated on the planet of the same name in the Canis Salient. Oertha is one of the primary warzones in the region and faces constant attacks from the Tau, who believe the planet to hold a wealth of resources ripe for the taking. 20 Deathwatch and 50 marines of the Storm Wardens are the first and last line of defense for Oertha, launching constant raids against the Tau to prevent their expansion across the planet. Both sides are holding out for reinforcements to turn the tide and only time will tell who will receive aid first and finish this. Character Generation Characteristics: Roll 2 sets of stats on orokos under MANDOZERS DEATHWATCH for the Campaign name. 10#2d10+30 take the highest 9 and put them wherever. I may authorize a 3rd set if you don't like your first 2/I don't like them. Experience: Start at Rank 2 with 18,000 total exp. Including starting exp that means 6,000 exp to spend. Renown: Respected (Renown Rating of 30) Requisition: 100 No Ryuujins. Armor: You can either voluntarily choose Mk.7 Aquila or you can roll for it per the Rite of Battles book. 9-10 gets you errant armor otherwise normal rolling. Books in Use: All of them. I'm looking for 5 players. Recruitment will last for a week, closing on the 19th at 10pm US EST. Play will begin the next day. Viva Miriya fucked around with this message at 20:31 on Jul 13, 2014 |

Sargent Crixis, Raven Guard tactical Marine Nothing made Sargent Crixis wish more for a glorious death in battle than his secondment to the Deathwatch. Okay, that may be a little harsh, no Raven Guard should ever wish for glorious death; no Raven Guard's death is ever glorious. Leave that stupidity to the Ultramarines and Space Wolves. Still, the thought of having to deal with other chapters fills Crixis with nothing but dread. One reason is most chapters cannot grasp basic elements of stealth and hit and run tactics; it is as if once they graduate from scout-hood and get their power armor all those lessons are lost. Just because your armor makes you a giant walking armored vehicle doesn't mean you have to act like it. Second, serving in the Deathwatch might mean Crixis might encounter some old "friends". The Raven guard are known for their unconventional tactics, often concealing their true battle plans or using other Imperial forces as bait. Crixis has led his squad through many engagements with mixed forces, and he has a reputation for even using other astartes forces as distractions, and has had many complaints from other chapters lodged against him. Then the Deathwatch approached the Raven Guard looking specifically for an expert in unconventional warefare. Seems the more Codex bound chapters have been falling prey to Tau forces, and the Deathwatch wanted more minds that are less Codex bound. Either someone in chapter command had a sense of humor, or thought the best way to get Crixis to play nice with others was to, well make him play nice with others. So here he is, on some damned rock, both enduring raids from the tau, and launching raids against them. All Crixis can do is look at the 50 Storm Wardens and wonder how long they would withstand a frontal attack while Crixis and his team flank around to kill a HVT. Some people never learn. pre:Name: Crixis Chapter: Raven Guard Specialty: Tactical marine Special ability: Tactical Expertise Past: Covert Strike Demeanors: Son of Night, Taciturn Characteristics: WS: 41 = 41 BS: 52 = 47+5[advance] S: 40 = 40 T: 40 = 38 Ag: 58 = 48+5[chapter]+5[advance] Int:50 =50 Per:59 = 49+5[chapter]+5[advance] WP: 41 = 41 Fel:54 = 49+5[advance] Wounds: =2423+1 fate points: 3 Skills: Awareness Ciphers (Chapter Runes) Climb Dodge Command Common Lore (Adeptus Astartes, Imperium,War, Deathwatch) Concealment +20 Drive (Ground Vehicles) Forbidden Lore (xenos) Intimidate Literacy Navigation (Surface) Scholastic Lore (Codex Astartes) Silent Move +10 Speak Language (High Gothic, Low Gothic) Tactics (Orbital drop, Recon and stealth) Tracking Talents: Ambidextrous Astartes Weapons Training Bulging Biceps Heightened Senses (Hearing,Sight) Killing Strike Nerves of Steel Quick Draw Resistance(Psychic Powers) True Grit Unarmed Master Guerrilla Training Rapid reload Air of authority Hard Target Signature wargear (power sword) Sound constitution hip shooting Traits: Unnatural strength (x2) Unnatural toughness (x2) Items: -astartes combat knife -bolt pistol -Bolter with fire selector and red dot -one free clip of special issue ammo (Kraken) -one clip of stalker bolt rounds -one clip of metal storm rounds -Helm Picter (chapter traping) -power sword (signature wargear) -melta gun -stalker bolt gun -Harness -cluster mines x4 -screamer -strummer Power armor: Mark 7 "Aquila" History: Mk 5 elements: Mrk 5 helemnt Requisitions: clip of stalker rounds 5 -clip of metal storm rounds 15 -red dot for bolter 10 Harness 4 cluster mines x4 20 Screamer 5 Strummer 5 Melta gun 20 Stalker bolt gun 15 Exp: (5900/6,000) Guerrilla Training 400 Fellowship advance simple 200 BS advance simple 500 agility advance simple 500 Perception advance simple 500 Rapid reload 200 Air of authority 500 Silent move +10 300 Concealment +10 300 Hard Target 500 Tactics (recon and stealth) 200 Signature wargear 500 Sound Constitution 1 500 Hip shooting 500 Concealment +20 300 stat group 2: 10#2d10+30 48 41 47 38 41 49 49 40 50 32 Starting wounds: 1d5+18 23 fate: 1d10 1 power amor mark: 1d10 6 Power armor history: 1d5 5 Roll from Artificer table: 1d10 6 mark 5 elements roll: 1d10 7 Werix fucked around with this message at 21:22 on Jul 13, 2014 |

Kjallak Icefang, Wolf Scout A man of few words and even fewer mercies, Kjallak stands out amongst his fellow Grey Hunters; his pre-battle carousing being limited to only mild overconsumption of Fenrisian ale and the odd punch. He was nominated for the Wolf Scouts a little over a decade after his initiation, and merely two years after his graduation from the ranks of the Blood Claws. He first displayed his talent for sneaking and tracking when, over the period of two months of brutal winter weather he stalked and killed four Fenrisian wolves, and even today he still wears the pelts. When tracking the enemy Kjallak prefers to work alone or with another Marine at most; when alone he disrupts the enemy's movements through short, quick strikes on stragglers and by mining and bombing bottlenecks, forcing them to advance along more circuitous routes and thus buying Kjallak's packmates precious time. With another or in a group, despite frequent complaints that the assistance "slows [him] down" or "is louder than a pit of drunk Kraken", Kjallak appreciates the extra eyes, and usually employs sniper tactics to pick off enemy leadership before charging the remaining confused mass of soldiers. quote:Name: Kjallak Icefang Forums Terrorist fucked around with this message at 04:22 on Jul 20, 2014 |

Codicier Elyas When Elyas arrived at the Watch Fortress, some of his new brothers were suspicious of someone from a chapter so far away being sent to the Jericho Reach. Elyas explained this as being due to an attempt by his chapter master and the watch commander to facilitate the exchange of information between the notoriously scholastic chapter and the Deathwatch. Those more trusting of their fellow astartes or familiar with the Guardians' reputation accepted this explanation, while those more sceptical whispered of it being a part of some grand conspiracy carried out by the Dark Angels and their successors. In reality, both were right. While Elyas would serve the Deathwatch with pride, and do his best to share his chapter's knowledge with the Deathwatch and to take some of theirs back with him in return, he had also been tasked with something that the Unforgiven considered to be very strictly an internal affair. Elyas had known of the Dark Angel's dark secret for some time, and in that time his psychic abilities had proven very useful. Quickly after his initiation into the inner circle of the Unforgiven, he had become one of his chapters interrogators, using his powers to assist the chaplains in extracting a confession and a declaration of repentance form the Fallen, and occasionally performing the task in their place when a chaplain was not available. When he was sent to the Deathwatch, he was told with great pomp and circumstance to fulfil the chapter's obligation to the organization and to share information both ways to the best of his ability. He was then, much more discreetly, taken to the side and given an entirely different mission, in addition to the previous. To watch for signs of the Fallen, either among the ranks of the enemy or the Deathwatch's Black Shields, and either share with the legion what he had found, or apprehend the traitor to either bring him to face judgement or to administer it himself. pre:Name: Elyas Demeanour: Sons of Lion, Studious Chapter: Guardians of the Covenant Speciality: Librarian WS:50=45+5 BS:51=41+5+5 S:36 T:41 Ag:40 Int:55=45+5+5 Per:48=43+5 Wil:54=46+3+5 Fel:36 Wounds: 22 Fate: 4 IP: CP: Renown: 30 Skills: Forbidden Lore (Xenos, Adeptus Astartes, Warp, Psykers, Traitor Legions, Inquisition, Daemonology) Ciphers (Chapter Runes) Concealment Common Lore (Deathwatch, Adeptus Astartes, Imperium, War Dodge Awareness +10 Drive (Ground) Climb Intimidate Literacy Navigate (Surface) Tracking Tactics (Recon and Stealth) Silent Move Scholastic Lore (Codex Astartes) Speak Language (High Gothic, Low Gothic) Psyniscience Deceive Interrogation Invocation Talents: Deathwatch Training Ambidextrous Astartes Weapon Training Bulging Biceps Heightened Senses (Hearing, Sight) Killing Strike Nerves of Steel Quick Draw Resistance (Psychic Powers) Unarmed Master True Grit Infused Knowledge Rival (Inquisition) Talented (Drive Groud Vehicle) Warp Sense Rite of Sanctioning Foresight Traits: Unnatural Strength (x2) Unnatural Toughness (x2) Psy Rating 3 Psychic Powers: Weaken Resolve Compel Gear: Mark 8 Armour -A Hero's Shame (+5 BS, +5 WS) Bolt Pistol Bolter (Fire Selector) 3 Frag Grenades 3 Krak Grenades Combat Knife Repair Cement Force Staff Chapter Trapping (Robe of Secrets (FL xenos +3)) XP (Spent): 18000 (18000) Initiate of Secrets -300 Interrogation -200 Rite of Sanctioning -400 Foresight -600 Warp Sense -500 Invocation -400 Simple Intelligence -200 Simple Willpower -200 Simple Perception -200 Forbidden Lore (Inquisition) -400 Forbidden Lore (Psykers) -400 Forbidden Lore (Warp) -400 Compel -1000 Forbidden Lore (Daemonology) -400 Forbidden Lore (Traitor Legions) -400

The Raptor space marine chapter is well known for it's "flexible" interpretation of the Codex Astrates. However even by the standards of the Raptors Battle Brother Ramius considered eccentric. Favouring direct melee assault where most would prefer the chapter's more traditional sniping techniques he stands out amongst the ranks of the Raptors. While most Raptors are grim and pragmatic he is open and friendly. Some unfriendly fellow marines whisper that he was accidentally implanted with another chapters gene-seed but despite his unconventional approach his strange tactics have won many victories for the Raptors. One of the most notable of these victories was during the Sulasid Campaign against a Heretic cult that had overthrew imperial authority and began preaching nonsense ideas about progress, freedom and democracy within a sub-sector of the segementum solar. On one planet Ramius and his fellow Assault marines engaged a group of the elite Aku-rn guard that server the leaders of the cult as their primary strike force. However little did Ramius know until he engaged the enemy that this was no ordinary host but instead on led by one of the ferocious leaders of the cult a dreaded Cena'ture while his battle brothers fought valiantly with the corrupted guard. Ramius duelled the dread Cena'ture who obviously embracing his vile perversions proved a strong foe. For hours they duelled unti finally only the Cena'ture remained of his foul cult. Eventually the servant of evil could do naught but fall before the doughty blade of one of the emperors marines. Ramius and his squad had proven victorious and eliminated the yoke of democracy and freedom from the oppressed peoples of the planet. code:

Iscin Seediq, Rainbow Warrior Apothecary A stranger fighting in an even stranger war The Rainbow Warriors are a proud and ancient Chapter, lauded by all, and their deeds are the stuff of legends. On the other side of the Imperium, anyway. Out here, most people just assume they're legends. The Chapter homeworld of Prism is about as far away from, well, anywhere as it is possible to be inside the Imperium. Apothecary Iscin was proud to continue his Chapter's long tradition of sending Marines to join the Deathwatch. However, rather than being assigned to one of the local Watch Stations, he was transferred to Watch Station Oertha, on the other side of the galaxy. Privately, he suspects a paperwork mixup, but the Imperium calls, and he answers. He is extremely friendly, but can be unnerving; his accent, his mannerisms, and his upbeat attitude mark him as wildly foreign. Oh, and his armor is absolutely stained with blood. That's...yeah, that's kinda loving scary. It was a very eventful voyage. To get along with his new battle brothers, he's been practicing his High Gothic by memorizing and reciting the Codex Astartes; the standard manual of Space Marines, yes? He's had a very, very, long journey to go over it, and knows it back to front. He should fit right in. After a long and dangerous journey across the galaxy, he's finally arrived for service with the Deathwatch, to fight alongside strange allies against a strange foe. pre:Name: Iscin Seediq Prism Chapter: Rainbow Warriors (Ultramarines Descendent) Speciality: Apothecary Personal Demeanour: Gregarious Chapter Demeanour: Sons of the Codex Past Experience: Travelled across the Galaxy Experience: 18,000 [Rank 2] Characteristics: WS: 56 (41)+5+10(Armor) BS: 39 (39) ST: 41 (41) TO: 40 (40) AG: 42 (42) IN: 61 (46)+5(Chapter)+5+5 PE: 44 (39)+5 WP: 43 (43) FE: 50 (45)+5(Chapter) Wounds: 22 Fate: 5/5 Insanity: 0 Corruption: 0 Skills: Awareness Ciphers (Chapter Runes, Deathwatch, Inquisition, Xenos Markings) Charm Chem-Use Climb Common Lore (Adeptus Astartes, Deathwatch, Imperial Navy, Imperium, War) Dodge Forbidden Lore (Xenos) Interrogation Intimidate Literacy Medicae+10 Navigation (Surface) Scholastic Lore (Codex Astartes+10) Silent Move Speak Language (High Gothic, Low Gothic) Survival Tactics (Chemical Warfare) Tracking Talents Ambidextrous Astartes Weapon Training Autosanguine Bulging Biceps Deathwatch Training Hardy Heightened Senses (Hearing, Sight) Hunter of Xenos Killing Strike Nerves of Steel Polyglot Quick Draw Resistance (Psychic Powers) Signature Wargear (Diagnosticator Helmet) Talented (Command) True Grit Unarmed Master Unarmed Warrior Traits: Unnatural Strength (x2) Unnatural Toughness (x2) Abilities: Create Toxins Keeper of Ways (backup squad leader) Gear: Astartes Bolter (w/ Fire Selector) Astartes Bolt Pistol Diagnostor Helmet Reductor Narthecium 3x Astartes Frag Grenades 3x Astartes Krak Grenades Astartes Combat Knife Repair Cement Chapter Trapping (Cingulum: Marks of Leadership) Astartes Power Armor (Mark IV "Maximus") 9 AP Body, 8 AP Helmet & Legs, 7 AP Arms +20 to Strength, +15 to Awareness Life Sustainer: Yes; Pain Suppressant Doses: 6 Vox Link: Yes; Magnetised Boot Soles: Yes; Nutrient Recycling: 2 weeks Recoil Suppression: Yes; Manual Dexterity: -10 +1 Fear +15 Fellowship with Space Marines +5 Fellowship with Imperials +10 WS History: Cannibalized Legs: Aquila Greaves Head: Corvus Helm Gauntlets of Xirion +10 WS, +5 Fellowship with people loyal to the Imperium of Man Advances: 5900/6000 Keeper of Ways [300][Deed] 12500 Autosanguine [500][Apothecary I] 13000 Signature Wargear (Diagnostor Helmet) [500][General I] 13300 Survival [300][General I] 13500 WS Simple [200] 13700 IN Simple [200] 13900 PE Simple [200] 14300 Chem-Use [400][Apothecary I] 14500 Cipers (Deathwatch) [200][Deathwatch I] 14700 Cipers (Inquisition) [200][Deathwatch I] 14900 Cipers (Xenos Markings) [200][Deathwatch I] 15900 Hunter of Xenos [1000][Deathwatch I] 16100 Interrogation [200][Apothecary I] 16500 Charm [400][Chapter] 17000 IN Intermediate [500] RANK 2 17500 Polyglot [500][General II] 17900 Medicae+10 [400][Apothecary II] Stats 1: 10#2d10+30 41 40 41 42 46 39 39 45 WELP Armor Mark: 1d10 1 Maximus Armor! *+15 Fellowship with Fellow Space Marines Armor History Table Rolls: 3#1d5 1 3 3 Armor History Rolls: 3#1d10 1 1 8 *-20 to Silent Move and Concealment, +10 to Command +1 Table: Changed to Blood of the Enemy *+10 Corruption, +10 to Fear Tests +1 Table, +1 Result: Changed to Cannibalized. Brother Varen, Ultramarine Devastator When the ork warboss Gutshredda declared Waaagh! in the Forgoil system, the Ultramarines answered the call. Marneus Calgar took his own 1st company along with the 4th and 5th to augment Imperial forces in defense. In the final battles, the chapter master took his terminators to assault the warboss's ship directly, while the 4th and 5th were sent to destroy the last of the Stompa factories. Heavy anti-air fire damaged Varen's jump pack and sent him careening wildly off course. Steering as best he could, Varen crash landed inside a forward Imperial firebase. The captain in charge, though surprised considered it guidance from the Emperor. After explaining to Varen that a large ork counteroffensive was en route to the base, Varen wasted no time in preparing the men for the assault to come. Morale bolstered by one of the Emperor's chosen among them, the previously downtrodden men steeled themselves for a brutal battle. When the ork mob slammed into the walls, Varen and the Imperial soldiers stacked them up in droves (though Varen accounting for the lion's share of the bodies). When Varen personally and explosively decapitated the Nob leading them, the orks faltered and broke. Through the heroism of the Imperial soldiers and an Ultramarine, the ork counteroffensive was blunted. It's retreating elements were utterly annihilated when the 5th company swept them up from behind. 5th company was delighted to learn of Varen's efforts and survival. Though Varen was glad to see his battle brothers alive and successful, it was with some apprehension that he reported to his company commander, Captain Idaeus. For a space marine, losing your weapons is a sin worthy of penance and the motley assortment of gear that Varen laid down carefully in front of his Captain could hardly be called weapons anymore. "Brother-Captain, after learning the situation from the local commander, I then deployed his men in a standard defensive formation to maximize overlapping fields of fire as per the Co..." Varen went silent as Captain Idaeus waved away his words. "Yes Brother-Varen, the troopers out there are firmly extolling your heroism and I can plainly see your victory was due to excellent deployment of Codex tactics." Idaeus paused and reached out to touch the remnants on the table, a heavy bolter with warped barrels and the stock broken off and half of a chainsword. He arched his brow and looked back at Varen. "I want to know how this happened." Varen sighed, "After continuous clearing fire, I noticed the barrels were overheating so I yanked out what was left of the belt. This pause in fire gave the xenos time to surround me on the wall and I was forced to...improvise." Captain Idaeus pursed his lips in amusement. "And by improvise, you mean you proceeded to bludgeon the xenos to death with your gun." Varen hesitantly nodded and continued. "After that I saw a way to the xenos leader and leapt from the wall to engage him. I used my sidearm to clear a path until I could engage the creature up close. When my sword became lodged in the creature's chest, I got behind it and began strangling it with the leftover belt of shells. It threw me from it's back and began trying to remove the belt. I was able to free my sword and detonate the shells." Idaeus frowned at Varen. "Why not just use your sidearm to do so?" Varen cleared his throat and shifted his weight slightly. "While clearing a path I ran out of ammunition and was again forced to...improvise." Captain Idaeus stared at Varen. "Improvise." Varen nodded slowly, his face impassive. "Yes Brother-Captain. I killed the last xenos in my way when...I threw my sidearm at it's head." He glanced outside towards the battle, where heaps of ork corpses were already being moved for disposal. Captain Idaeus slowly followed his gaze and sighed. "Very well Brother-Varen. I shall inform Lord Calgar that you have graciously volunteered to serve in the Deathwatch while you will report to Brother Invictus for replacement wargear." Varen let out a deep breath and nodded quickly. He saluted his captain and turned to leave. "Brother-Varen?" He paused and looked back. "Yes Brother-Captain?" Captain Idaeus smiled wryly. "I suggest you retrieve your sidearm before reporting." pre:Name: Varen Chapter: Ultramarine Specialty: Devastator Special ability: Favored Son Past: Endured the Waaaagh! I realized after you'd closed out applications that I'd managed to edit out the background for my character. So, if that was the reason for rejection, I'd like to reapply, with background. Techmarine Torcadall Ulraig Torcadall was the third in his direct ancestral line to pass the the trials on Sacris, and the second to be sent to Mars straight out of basic training. Like most initiated into the Cult of Mars, Torcadall is obsessed with technology, and on his return to the Calixis Sector, he began to settle in to a routine (or, at least, as routine as life in service to the Emperor gets), communing with the machine spirits of the myriad heavy engines of death. The cleansing of Vigil brought an end to that. Vigil was a long, hard slog, that put many of the things Torcadall loved about being a marine in the back seat. Long, narrow tunnels with a lot of waiting, ambushes instead of direct engagements, and the Slaugth had neutralized the greatest advantage the Storm Wardens had: their vehicles. Shortly after the cleansing, Torcadall requested to be transferred to the Deathwatch. His purpose was twofold: both to escape the too-familiar sights of new faces where old friends had once been--including his great-great-grandfather, who had been in the vanguard--and because it would allow him to find the greatest opportunity to sift through old and Xeno technology. Torcadall wanted to do what he could to solve the Vigil problem for the chapter: he wanted to find a way to put heavy armor into narrow tunnels, whether through digging or simply building something narrow enough to fit. In combat, Torcadall prefers to work with a group, and his favored tactic is leaping off the back of a Predator and charging the enemy in a line with his brothers. Subtlety is not his strong point, though he has been known to be a good distraction for his less-vocal brethren, and he can usually resist his tribal instincts to engage in single-combat with ranking members of the enemy… usually. pre:Name: Torcadall Ulraig Career: Techmarine Chapter: Storm Wardens Demeanor: Aspire to Glory, Studious History: Omnissiah’s Calling Stats: 47, 46, 45, 43, 42, 40, 39, 38, 37 WS: 46 51 +5 (Adv) BS: 37 37 STR: 43 80 (90 with arm) (+14 bonus, +15 with arm) +5 (Chapter) +10 (Advance) +2 (Amulet of Might) +20 (Armour, post-US) +10 (bionic arm, post-US) TGH: 45 50 (+10 bonus), +5 (Adv), +20 (v. Apothecary Kadai "Ironheart" of the Salamanders "Thank you for for seeing me, Father. The Burning Walk has done little to ward the chill seeping into my bones, and I am in dire need of your counsel. *ahem* I am Kadai. I am an Apothecary, a good one. I am a Space Marine, a Salamander. We endure, and are tempered on the Anvil of Life. But I tell you, I am sorely tested. When I lost my arm, and my heart, I endured. I persevered, and retrived the geneseed of my killteam. The aches in my arm and my chest, hah, nothing. I endure. I am tempered by it. But this...I fear this will unmake me. It is a wound I know not how to heal. The death of He'stan, my apprentice, my nephew, his geneseed lost, it grieves me to no end. I feel...hollow, as if all my strength has drained away. I remember all the brothers I've given the Emperor's Mercy, all the brothers we have cremated, and it weighs on my heart. And I feel old. And weary. I remember when he was but a boy, and I was preparing him for the trials. I remember Captain Agatone, whose geneseed he bore. Helping him forge his armor, teaching him the art of the Apothecary. I was so proud of him when he was chosen to join the Deathwatch, and follow in my footsteps. And now? Ashes. These are fell times, old friend. That the old must bury the young, and I live to see the last days of my house... ...Father, I must return to the Deathwatch, to complete He'stan's term. Before I depart, tell me of our Primarch. How he presevered in the dark days after Istvaan. How did he have the strength to go on?
